Amazing the kid was able to fly solo and do barrel rolls in this aircraft with no formal training except flight simulator. AUG 2018, Tacoma Washington.

Very cool, flying on an Alaskan Airlines one day after tomorrow

Man the sound of a Turboprop spooling up is just majestic

His last hour he was free, he lived...that's a lot more than most of us can say. I wish I could of tried to help this young man. This is very sad. You don't diagnose yourself. He was just going through something that would of passed it sounded like. He could of had a long career as a pilot. RIP Rich :(

I’m surprised how many Q400 vids now have flooding comments about rich.

RIP Skyking, this was the view that he had before his glorious life had been ended, in fashion.

Rich was free man. These guys have thousands of hours in a Dash 8 and will cont flying it fore years, yet they will never know the joys of doing barrel roll right off the deck in one.

Love the after takeoff flow! Flaps up > Bleeds ON/NORM > A/F OFF > Stby Hyd, PTU OFF > Prop 900

It's rare to find cockpit videos of this high quality, sensible camera focus and without the excess moving and shaking on KZread, especially with the Dash8-400. I really enjoyed watching this.

Jeff Beach I am guessing, but it’s possible that it was a bit windy/gusty. In such weather it’s better to be a bit firm than smooth

Pretty interesting stuff. I’m sure this channel will be busy over the next few days so everyone can figure out how “Rich” did it. He seemed to have a pretty good handle on flying ? However unorthodox his skills were we’ll never know I guess.

My flight instructor flies a Q400 for horizon air. I am very proud.

Looks like the pilots had chicken Parmesan for lunch. I watched this video at 3:00 am and when I saw that, I got hungry, so I paused the video and made me a sandwich. These guys they are working in the best office in the world, an aircraft cockpit! I love these checklists!

Ammazing Check List.

I have just been on a return trip to Scotland from Southampton with Flybe on one of these. I was amazed at the power of the engines on takeoff. A bit noisy but that adds to the character. Very good aircraft in my opinion.

Yeah, that is quite the odd contraption they've got there for checklists.

I flew in a Dash 8 Q400 for my first plane ride a few months back! I flew from DPO to YMML. I sat just behind the engine! Beautiful video

Nice video...thanks for making this. Me like sitting in the cockpit too. Very convenient checklist box on dashboard by manufacturer default. I would like to buy q400 sometime in future.....excellent plane for regional purposes!

I will film the next time I fly on a Dash 8 ... I think they're great. Should be in September, fly down to Southampton.

Melbourne R16 down to Launceston and up the Tamar River! - Done that flight many times, but in jets.

Cameraman lost consciousness during touchdown and regained it soon after.

i was an electrical installer at bombardier aerospace back in 2000. i know the wiring involved in the 400. most of the wiring runs right under the floor boards and behind the overhead bins..

Ha ha. But that's not what happened. I was a bit jerky with the camera plus just wanted the tape to fit in with the music version so I shortened the clip a little. Then someone wanted the "no music" version so hence this upload but I had already edited it so the missing full touch down is a little missing. Sorry ! ...... (◕︿◕✿)

Ah cool, thanks for the reply. Yeah the touchdown's always a bit shaky, and for some reason everyone loves to complain about the music choice. I think it would be awesome to somehow plug into the ICS from the jumpseat and record the audio because you can never hear what they are saying.

Thank you....... ☆☆☆☆☆ The only time one can really show how the aircraft felt when the wheels touch the ground is to have the camera mounted to a solid base. Hand held techniques will always exaggerate the movement and most people will miss interpret that as a rough landing which is not the case at all. Many happy greetings ......... (っ◕‿◕)っ Nara Oh ! This is the link to Sydney Tower but as to getting the audio of intercom between pilots and pilots to ground etc then one would have to put the headset ear piece over the mic recorder of the camera. Camera vibration on touching the ground and I was watching the landing, not at the camera, so had to take out a split second bit .......... (っ◕‿◕)っ

What a badass

Just love the twin jet-props and enjoy watching them fly over our house on approach to CYYJ Victoria BC. I have always wondered just what the props are doing during taxi when they periodically produce a very distinctive 'growl'. Is it from adjusting the pitch angle to produce more or less thrust when assisting a turn? And the camera cut out....sounded like a carrier type landing..100......50....40...30..20.10!🙈😂 Thanks for this fantastic video!

Many many thanks and happy greetings to everyone in Toronto ......... (っ◕‿◕)っ The propellers make a loud sound when the blades start beating the air (as they feather) rather than pulling the air. I like that sound too and if we sit at a window seat right next to where the propeller is then it is really noticeable - the pitch angle of the blades changing. So glad that you enjoyed the clip.
