For everyone talking about blade play…. Mine locks up perfectly. Very very minimal blade play. No more or less than a bugout

Agreed and mine has no play or alignment issues. Unfortunately, now that this has become a narrative, folks will be looking for issues. I'm not saying there can't be some real production errors too but I've see videos where people talk about just loosening the pivot to get a drop shut action and then being disappointed with all of the blade play. It's a brand new knife, don't loosen the pivot, tighten it until you have the lockup you want, and then break-in the washers for smoother action. People are even wiggling from the tip, if you wiggle any axis lock blade from the tip, it will find some type of movement. I always wiggle from the thumb studs when adjusting, if there's movement there, then you have a problem. Hell, if you wiggle a Sebenza from the tip, you'll find some level of play, these aren't fixed blades, they're folders.

@@AverageBrosI certainly agree with the idea here, but I will say that out of 6 different Sebenzas, I cannot get any of them to present play even applying force from the tip. Maybe I could if I put an entirely unrealistic amount of pressure on it, but who knows. That is true of the 21, 25, and 31. I am not really trying to argue with you on this, just saying that particular example doesn’t really hold true from anything that I have seen. At the same time, the Sebenza has always been a more expensive knife than this, and is now nearly or quite literally double what this costs depending on options, and specializes in precision machine work that is taken frankly to a level that few if any other production knife companies can rival. Given that, I would kind of expect an essential and obvious difference between the 2. I have yet to get my Maverick, so I am holding judgment overall until I have that chance, but people are presenting their issues with it as they experience them. While I am sure some people are exaggerating the issue, as always happens, but where there is smoke, there is some amount of fire. I would expect a new release to have issues in QC. Hopefully they are overall minor, few and far between, and taken care of in an appropriate way by the people with Tactile.

@@charredhusk That's fair, I have two Sebenza's both small Insingo, one 21 and one 31 and I probably shouldn't have used the Sebenza as a comparison since they're framelocks and the level of "play" isn't really comparable to an axis-style lock. The point was more about, finding what you look for. A better and more realistic comparable would've been for me to just say in comparison to a Benchmade 940, Bugout, or Mini-Grip, even the newer Hogue comparables, that even perfect examples of those knives will present similar play from tip wiggle.

@@AverageBros Absolutely, in that instance I agree for sure. I think Tactile has a great design, good general machine work, but there is a chance they might need to dial in their QC, or acceptable tolerance to their work at worst. People bringing the issue up is part of the process, as I have seen a few accounts that appear to be genuine concerns. Benchmade had a similar problem for a long time that most people have kind of forgotten, and even now like you said, I would not be entirely upset if I got one of their standard models with a tiny amount of play in it, because it is normalized, and there are not functional problems with the product for the most part. I think there are 2 different categories of complaint here: 1 is people who are not used to Axis style locks or knives on washers, as those have largely been replaced by bearings in this price category lately, and do not know about the break-in period that is needed for them, so they are loosening their pivot too much or complaining about blade play when it is either very minor, or just the washers needing to be worked in a bit to get the right action. 2 is people that have a genuine QC issue on the knife, which seems to be mostly caused by some slightly undersized pivot tubes causing play in both directions, which Tactile will probably need to work out as that might be a bit more of an actual issue, and can’t be resolved easily by the end user. The problem is these groups can’t distinguish each other, and generally neither can anyone else, and there might even be other groups in the conversation as well. And you have everyone who is thrilled with their example of the knife just genuinely trying to enjoy it, and share it with other people so they can as well. Those people are just confused because they are likely aware of the minor play that sometimes comes with the lock, and know how to deal with it, or have no play at all. I am just looking forward to when my name comes up (a bit over 2500 down this list right now 😂), and hoping I get a good example that I can enjoy, and more than anything I just want a reasonable knife in Magnacut with a well-ground blade. I have several Sebenzas, but I kind of wanted to have a knife that I don’t feel bad retrofitting and really using when I want to so I can see how this stuff performs when its really used! Edit: sorry for writing a book there. I just kind of got on a role…

I just bought this blade last week and it is absolutely beautiful. The action is very tight though. Zero blade play but I can't flick it closed holding the lock. That's not exactly a really bad thing though because doing that actually shortens the lifespan of the blade. This thing absolutely blows the Benchmade bug-out out of the water in my opinion. Hope you all enjoy yours as much as I'm loving it.

I received my first production one today, bought it second hand. The previous owner seem to have crossthreaded the screws so I have contacted Tactile for buying replacement hardware. For anyone interested, they will launch/start selling lanyard posts for this knife soon, and add it as an option when buying it.

I just got mine yesterday 5/16, and it’s perfect. Almost drop shut out of the box, centered blade, and no blade play. I’m wondering if they were hearing about the issues, and corrected the problems before they dropped their second batch. This knife will dominate my pocket, along with my modified Manix 2.

I would totally agree with it being knife of the year had I not had 2 with significant vertical and horizontal blade play, and tightening the pivot took away horizontal play, but not vertical, and it made it so tight the blade would not deploy. So this is a redo for Tactile Unfortunately, if they are able to trouble shoot this, I will be buying one asap.

I had blade play with where it needed to be so the blade could be forcibly flicked closed. If I tightened to stop blade play, it became 2 handed knife to be able to close it. TKC needs to iron the kinks out before I will try it again.

From what I've seen so far, some of these have some serious blade play issues. You have to tighten the pivot to the point where the action is too tight.

As a plus to anyone who may have gotten one of these and was not happy with the spring and lock tension (detent), there are multiple holes for the omega springs to go into within the knife. I saw a few people talking about this, so if you are comfortable with taking it apart, you can increase the tension on the lock and therefore the detent when opening. Not sure how needed it really is, but hey, might be useful to someone.
