Everyone should have a proper understanding of confession and of what a correct spiritual father is. Bp. Athanasios, as always, is on point with this significant subject.

Bishop Athanasios was an Athonite monk who was a spiritual grandchild to Elder Joseph the Hesychast. He was a spiritual child of Elder Joseph of Vatopaidi. He came to know many Holy people and had a close relationship with St. Paisios the Athonite, with whom he experienced many incredible things. He is also mentioned in the book "The Gurus the young man and Elder Paisios." and in the book Mountain of Silence, although he goes by the name "Maximos." in that book.

Not likely without the church
I have one questions. He says that The Church is not religion. In religion people do everything to God not destroy them. In the Old Testament we see these kind of things a lot of time. So, Jesus Christ said that i didnt come to change everything, i came to complish it. As bishop tells two another pray type. How we can say that praying style which in Old Testament is false? It was not made by God?

The Orthodox Church is not a religion but it is religious. What people like Father John Romanides and Bishop Athanasius mean when they speak against "religion" is the tendency of pietism or Pharisee-ism, getting hung up on the religious rites themselves and not understanding the deeper meanings those rites signify

It was on the way to the true way but it wasn't itself it. God made a point that he needed nothing man could give him and that he wanted from men rightousness far above animal sacrifices.
