Why are you exibiting "russian orphan" knowing the fact that thousands of Ukrainian orphans right now at this very moment suffer due to russian war in Ukraine. Do you want to make it to russia instead of Ukraine ? Is it an artist position to exibiti this work with "culture outside of politics" statemement in mind?

Dear Andrii, Thank you for sharing your concern. We believe our unwavering support for Ukraine has been evident for a long time, especially when considering the numerous past projects - whether they were exhibitions, educational initiatives, or rising significant funds for humanitarian efforts in collaboration with other institutions - these projects have reflected on the war, provided direct support for Ukrainians and helped raise awareness of the issue since 2014. We deeply respect the importance of Ukraine's situation and have consistently shown our support over the years. Please know that the inclusion of "Russian orphan" in the exhibition is in no way intended to diminish the struggles of the Ukrainian people. The work you are referring to is showcased in a room alongside pieces from the Morgue and Clan series, confronting the themes of death and hatred directly. It's not about a Russian child but children in general. Art often aims to highlight various aspects of humanity without being bound by political lines. At the same time, we take seriously our independence and a commitment to not subject ourselves to any form of censorship. Nevertheless, many of our projects and exhibitions have provided a critical reflection of authoritarian regimes even in the face of threats. You can be therefore sure we will continue to support Ukraine, as our liberal values are firmly rooted in the foundations upon which DOX is built.
