In the video, his mother died and his father started drinking, and he needed someone to help him get through it all. So he created this alter ego that was braver and more irreverent to help him through everything, imagining the brother he wished he had, the family who could protect him when the rest of his family couldn't.

Yes! It’s easy to miss what happened to mom and dad at the beginning the first viewing. It all fell apart in his family and he had no one to turn to. He created an imaginary brother as a coping mechanism.

I think he wrote this song for the fans, but I relate so much to this song with my brother that's been through hell with mental problems and other challenges for the last 2 years, and I'm honestly lucky he's still alive. This is my theme song for him

This was for Tyler's relative. But the video has got a fictional story of it's own. Tyler plays the bass track himself. Yeah, their music is creative and deep.

It's one of my fav videos of them.

So excited you're checking out more of their music, loved your suprise at the end! like you said tyler wrote this song after his first niece was born and he was feeling super proud of his family and he also said at a show that the verse about people in your driveway was inspired by a story about his cousins where one of them knew karate and defended their brother against a rival school football team that turned up at their house after he mouthed them off. He said he knows his hands are to soft to punch anyone so he would need a bat to defend his family 🤣

All their songs sound different because Tyler is truly creative and writes the songs himself from the beats to the lyrics to the harmonies and bass lines. The songs aren’t being assembled like fast food sandwiches by a committee of industry pawns that know “the formula” for success.

such a great video - this is the only video they've done so far that features actors more than them - you'll notice Tyler and Josh make a small appearance at the Halloween party, but other than that they aren't in the video at all
