I went to a Mother Hubbard's for the first time when I visited Shrewsbury last year, fantastic fish and chips and some of the best batter I've ever tasted.

It might be the first time you have had yorkshire fish and chips done in beef dripping darren. A completely different and superior meal to london fish and chips like poppies etc. The batter finishes and taste are common in yorkshire. Finally london can sample them with the excellent mother hubbards chain. You should venture up north and the two best are 1) Blakeleys in brighouse 2) Magpie cafe whitby.

My nan used to put custard powder in her batter when I was a child. She made us fish and chips every Saturday.RIP Nanny fish.

Yeah, Cornflour is essentially custard powder & vanilla. Use a quarter in weight of cornflour (or Rice flour) & guarantee crispy !.

The original was (and is) in Bradford. I didn't think they would be charging Northern prices in that there London. Most chippies in Bradford use beef tallow to fry but I think these guys use veg oil.

LOOKS SUPERB. Need to visit. Worth trying Happy Days in Aldgate too, very good fish & chips!

Apparently the actors who played Jack and Vera Duckworth on Corrie invested in, and promoted, this company soon after it started up. Don't know how successful it was at the outset, but it's still going strong. Great value for London.

It must be 10, it's the batter that is being used by many top chefs, question is what are they putting in it ?Sheila & Patrick.

Wow those fish and chips looked gorgeous Dazzla.Can Remember a Mother Hubbards in the 70s in Bradford which was I'm pretty sure started as a restaurant and not a takeaway.Sure it was the first one.Now like you say lots of Mother Hubbards fish and chip shops all over the country . Thanks for sharing! I prefer my fish n’ chips deep fried in beef dripping and the fish to be coated in beer batter. The last time I went to a Mother Hubbards, my fish and chips (like yours) looked amazing. Unfortunately they were fried in vegetable oil and tasted ok ish. On the-other hand, Murgatroyds (Yeadon - Leeds) do AMAZING fish n’ chips! If you ever find yourself up in West Yorkshire I highly recommend that you give them a visit.

Did not expect to see you in Eastham just down the road from where I Live next time try their fiery fish and chips it’s a Indian type masala fish banging you’ll love it !!

I'm a Brit retired and living in Cyprus . If you ever come to Cyprus you must try Lambros fish and chips , it's located inside the dekhelia British base and it is fantastic .

Love this place when I come to Bradford , def one of the best fish and chips I have ever had!

Mmmh 😋....never seen such a large portion of fish served, & plenty chips. I love onion vinegar on my chips. A great price too👌 My local fish & chip shops in the Harrow area would charge approx £15 for that & would not be as big! Thanks for sharing... Lizzie 👌🤗🥰

You’d think you’re eating in that they would supply proper knifes and forks. I couldn’t cope with plastic or wooden utensils. But it did look like a nice bit of fish and chips.

Try Something Fishy in Lewisham mate , it is old school proper and the fish n chips is the dogs 🐕

That looked absolutely superb and it was great value. I knew they had a few shops Yorkshire way but didn't realise they had spread to London. Great vlog DJ and as you said OTC's.

They're a Yorky mob, started in Bradford, about 5 mins from where i used to live. Always been a bit over the odds, with all the fancy packaging n stuff, but a constant mediocrity. Esp now, that they do'nt use beef dripping !!

The Old fryer in Hastings. Lovely fish and chips

its the only go to place in Birmingham. The one i go to is on Stratford Rd. I was shocked the 1st time! its the norm now!! bit pissed off you got a pound off!! lol i had to pay 11.95. mind you i regret ordering it as it was far too much food for me. When i go again i´ll shall it with the mrs!! Well its good to see a chain with good standards!!!

The fish and chips looked absolutely fantastic for me it's "Off the Charts ". Great vlog Darren keep them coming.

Been there, is more East Ham that Canning Town, but it's great to be a chain. My wife's best friend used to live in Poplar and we went there from time to time. Always great quality. Keep up the fabulous work, Darren!! 😊

That fish and chips was massive. When you changed views, the fish looked like a t bone steak. I can't get get fish and chips for the life of me over here. :( Top class place mate.

That looked good. from someone that lives close to the famous Pilot at Dungeness. Went to the local chippy the other week (that used to be rated very highly but has changed hands)) for the first time in about 5 years got charged £28.00 for Haddock & chips twice and was so dissapointed. I've never has such a wet piece of fish in fact we (the SO) seriously doubted it was Haddock! But that looked proper.

Get a car and travel the uk. We have a mother hubbards in Worcestershire. It’s ok👌 Come and try this one 🥰

Looked good my only picky point would be the chips although looked well cooked they where a bit small and bitty.

Upton Park Home of West Ham United and always will be in my eyes. I always prefer Ercans couple of doors up from there on the corner just behind youand we use it 1-2 times a week 😂 I miss match day, you would see the queue half way up the road out of Ercans and the Pie n Mash Shop 😢 a sea of claret and blue and kids with there big bag of chips, too big for them to hold lol and their scarfs on, ready for a game or going home.

I still stand by here in Yorkshire we have the best fish and chips by far. I have a Mother Hubbards a mile down the road from me and for what is now a big chain, the quality is brilliant. Thanks for the video.

I've been going to Mother's Hubbards since I was a kid. It started in Bradford then came to Oldham where I was born and bread and just out of interest Roy Barraclough was a regular there, I saw him a couple of times in the restaurant area 😃 Top fish n chips top man. Loving these vlogs 👍

One in Shrewsbury. Sometimes the batter looks as though it has exploded and has left some of the fish uncovered so you get some that's dry. Chips are good, nicely cooked. All in all good value for money.

That looks absolutely awesome, shame they don't have a franchise here in the west country, I would be there at least once a week!!
