I grew up with funk and rock in the 70s so George has always had a special place in my musical heart. A big influence on my music as well.

BACK IN THE DAY THAT WAS A JAM ,PLAY IT TODAY AND EVERYONE HAS TO MOVE THEIR BODY
"Make my funk the P-Funk, I want my funk uncut!" Saw George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic four times over the years, including the Mothership Reunion Concert in Central park, NYC in 1996, one of the best musical events of my life. "Bootsy, We Want Bootsy, Bootsy, We Want Bootsy!" That's Mr. William "Bootsy" Collins on the Bass now.
How in the hell have they never heard this song before????????
Shawn & Mel, you'll love Parliament's "Tear the Roof off the Sucker (Give Up the Funk)" and Funkadelic's "One Nation Under a Groove"!!! George was part of both groups! Atomic Dog was the Parliament-Funkadelic collectives' last to reach #1 on the U.S. R&B Chart 1982.

We've been jamming to this since the 80s. Goodness we've had some great times

Indeed!
You bet Snoop sampled it. George Clinton along with Parliament-Funkadelic (P-Funk) started bringing the funk in the decades ago. They could still play the house down when we last saw them in the early 2000’s. Great stuff - Go down THIS rabbit hole!

The King of Funk!
The 80’s at the clubs was 🔥 I was a new nurse in the military and danced my stress away with all my Army friends. Great times in San Antonio.
George Clinton is the lead singer of Parliament which is the band an old 70s late 70s I had a lot of hits one of them is flash light by parliament you should listen to that one that’s awesome studio version
Yes yes yes. I've been waiting for years for another generation to discover George. Amazing multi-layered production and pure fun. My favorite dance song of all time.
was a huge hit in the early 80s… Really good dance tune.
This song was played at every bar and club in the 80’s! Within seconds the dance floor was full!! Every race and color would dance to this song! Especially the dogs! 😉
The way this song was made, the whole Grove of it was being played Backwards and George didn't know
You will hear this at every house function, party, wedding reception, GUARANTEED!!!!!
This is the song that gets The Party started!!
This song filled the dance floor
Guaranteed to get them on the floor back in the day! You may wanna listen to "One Nation Under a Groove" or "Not Just Knee Deep" Funkadelic
One of my all-time favorite rollerskating JAMS! I used to jam to this at local roller rinks in the Twin Cities area including the Roller Garden, which sadly closed in 2021 after a 52-year run! 😊👏🏾♬🎤🎶💯🛼
COME ON PEOPLE Snoop Dogg wasn't even around back then this song was back in the eighties you can still take this great song and music to any disco club's and people will get up and dance 💃 let's go back to the eighties we had great music and styles and songs to dance to 💃💃💃💃💃💃💃🤘🤘🤘🤘🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼

I’m 28 year old white guy, so I wasn’t even aware of the existence of P-Funk until a few years ago. And now I seriously don’t think I’ve ever heard anything that comes even remotely close to brilliance of George/P-Funk. Absolutely incredible music!
I was a teenager when this song was out. We used to have a ball dancing to this, One Way's - Cutie Pie, Frankie Smith's - Double Dutch Bus, AND last but surely not least, Afrika Bambaataa's - Planet Rock I used to be in a teen dance group and this was our favorite song to dance to (Planet Rock)! I love watching ya'll's reactions to oldies songs. I grew up on hip-hop & it just amazes me to see younger people say "I've never heard this before." (I forget I'm as old as I am until ya'll young'uns remind me) lol
Rule of thumb is that "If it's music, rappers NEVER came up with it. They stole it and called the theft sampling" Rappers are not known for creating music, only stealing music (sampling). So, if you hear the original, there is NO chance that the musician stole it from the rapper.
1983. The only song they played twice at my senior prom!!
Loved this song back in the day! Pure funk! This song was released in 1982, and was before Snoop Dog. Snoop did sample from this song. Thank you for a great reaction! 💙✌
Funnest concerts ever !!!!!! Its a never miss
George, fantastic. You may also like Tom Browne, "Funkin For Jamaica"
Straight up, "OG" gangster Jam!
I grew up with Parliament / GC....The father of FUNK!! So many artists sampled Georges work decades later.
I remember when this dropped. A friend of mine threw it on his massive stereo and cranked it. My jaw hit the floor.
You should see this live. I did right before Covid shutdown. The backup ladies slay it. PFunk never gets old
Masters of FUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hallelujah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was at a house party and this song had just come out and when they played it the wood floor was shaking with everybody gettin' down so hard. I'll never forget it💃💃💃
The great thing about this song is what it's really saying . But it's tastefully done . Only George could come up with this .
Thank You!!!!! I've been waiting forever for someone to do a reaction to this song. You guys are awesome, love almost all songs you guys do.
That was awesome guys! Takes me back to my childhood. Now can you please react to Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue and Gap Band -You dropped a Bomb on Me. Thanks Shawn and Mel❤️😎🙂

You Dropped a Bomb on Me, by Gap Band is EPIC! A MUST LISTEN TO!
Such an influential song. It's from George's computer games album from 1982 and it was a huge number one song on the r'n'b charts! The sound forms the template for G funk. Even Teddy Riley utilised the line "why must I feel like that" in the Blackstreet song booti call.

I spent much of the late 80s at clubs in Tijuana. This was my jam
When I was in the Army we did a cadence to this song. It made marching fun. Came out in early 80s
Parliament Funkadelic with George Clinton is an amazing collaboration of musical styles. If you like guitar solos, check out the Funkadelic song "Maggot Brain" featuring in my opinion one of the best & longest guitar solos in history. Performed by the late great Eddie Hazel. I was lucky enough to see PFunk live before Eddie passed. That song is mind-blowing live. And of course they did the full 10min version of Atomic Dog. Great concert.
Saw George LIVE about 10 years ago. Great fun! Huge band!
George was first in the chair without the wig and again near the end in the blond wig in the control room.
Been waiting on this one for a while.
Have you listened to George Clinton with Funkadelic song "Flash Light"? Check it out it was Truly a Jam!! I was at that concert! Also check out Funkadelic's Make my Funky P-Funk!!! Yes this was definately a dance song
Any Time this song came on, the dance floor got crowded! So much fun. It was played at my 25th high school reunion and everyone yelled and hit the dance floor immediately!
George actually utters the line, "nothin but the dog in me, baby" in the movie PCU.
Heyyyy sis & bro . I see y’all still hanging in there . So damn proud of y’all 🥰💪🏾 good energy always , good music always . Got me over dancing with you Mel . Y’all know how that goes , most of these songs get re made . . . I actually like this song too lol
I'm glad you guys caught on!
This is real one! This jams, back in the 80!!
Meshell Ndegeocello covered this for her 2018 album Ventriloquism. I love the original and I love her take as well.
You are right it is George Clinton, the one with the colorful hair !
Master of the funk Mister George Clinton!
This was and still is a great party song.
Next: Parliament’s “FLASHLIGHT” and Funkadelic’s “One Nation Under A Groove” 🔥🔥🔥
This song gets everyone out on the dance floor!🤣💃🏻
This is my uncle's favorite song. He be jammin'!
THIS IS A CLASSIC ❤❤
Sometimes they were Parliament, sometimes they were Funkadelic. And most of the time they were Parliament Funkadelic. But they were always led by George Clinton with his çolorful dréd's. So Shawn you were right. And Mel, Snoop sampled.,😍😍😍
Lyn Collins (The female preacher) - Think (About it). another familiar original.
Atomic Dog 1982 such a cool song to skate to by George Clinton!
Beautiful Black Couple✊🏾❤️
no doubt about it George Clinton Bootsy Collins Bernie Worrell / Parliament Funkadelic affectionately shortened to P-Funk were a big influence on music
Thank you ! We (here in Houston Texas USA) Love George Clinton...Parliament...Funkadelic...Bootsy's Rubber Band...Parlet...and Brides of Funkenstein
Your Omega Psi Phi uncle and his line brothers step to this.
The Funk King! Funkadelic
Yep. Back in the day you could always depend on this song (and other P-funk) to get folk on the dance floor.
Can you do "Tom Tom Club, Genius of Love". Utter Sampling Genius!
"Nasty Dogs" man this takes me back for sure!! Back in late 80's early 90's we would go 'downtown' when I was in college and there was a bar called 'The Dog' and they played the hell outta this song and when they played this song the dance floor was packed. Good times!! Thanks for taking me back.
People used to say - George Clinton for President.
The early 80s we partied like crazy. I am in Los Angles and the place was the 'Carolina West' near LAX and when they played this song the floor was packed. It was wild, some of the women would bend over and back into their guys dancing with them as if they were having...... , oh damn, I said to much.
you must see George Clinton live to have an opinion, this man is a genius !!!
This song came out in 1982. I thought it was a 70s song myself.
OMG! Man, the 80s were awesome! House parties were legit, whites, blacks, hispanics asians..., we ALL had so much fun together. NO VIOLENCE! The music played at these house parties was a mixture of OG Rap (think Sugarhill Gang, Grand Master Flash, Whodini and so many more you've yet to hear of.) New Wave, Funk and some classic rock. Atomic Dog echoed across SoCal!
instruments used on this song is reverse roland tr77 drum machine prophet 5 synthesizer bass, percussion revers percussion, melody, and lead minimoog synthesizer bass handclaps drum set george clinton, gary shider and the Pfunk allstars some of the brides of funkenstein PS George clinton ( guy with the color hair) was in the vid, without the colorful hair but a hat on, he was sitting in the chair
Dogs of the world unite...Greatest line ever!😆😅
Bow wow wow yippy yo yippy yeah!! 1982. Snoop was 11 years old when this dropped. It undoubtedly made a big impression on him. And why wouldn't it? It's so funky, it's ultra funky! Yowsah! George Clinton is there in the video -- wearing a black skipper's cap and a long blond wig with white make up around his eyes -- around the five minute mark in your video.
George Clinton did a cameo almost toward the end. He had the blond wig on.
Ohhh I got to see this they never heard Atomic Dog ohhhh! It’s da future Funk from 1982!!!! This put George back on the Funk map!!!
'FLASHLIGHT'
That was George Clinton minus the colorful wig / braids at the beginning of the video sitting in the chair throwing up the coins in the game room p funk 4 life baby💯👍👍🤟
Its like when Warren G sampled Michael Mcdonalds---I Keep Forgettin' in the song Regulate...
Next one - One Nation under a Groove !! 🤘
I always loved the Funkadelics.
One of my all time favorite songs,Nice Reaction Guy's
Atomic Dog is the official theme song for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity AKA The Ques.
Check out Swing Down Sweet Chariot, Undisco Kidd, Give Up The Funk, Cosmic Slop. The Live versions from 1976 and 1977 and some of the older Parliament songs Testify and All Your Goodies Are Gone. The last two from back when Parliament was a doo-wop band. Actually started out in the late 50's as The Parliaments. Testify was a hit in 1967.
George was the guy with the blond-ish wig sticking his tongue out toward the end of the video. You are right he normally has a feather and colors in his hair. Snoop loves music and is a fan of P-Funk.

Check out Flashlight by Parliament, number one R&B song of 1977 or One Nation Under a Groove
I saw George Clinton in concert in Stuttgart 2004. It was a smallish venue, so it was a great intimate atmosphere. It was one of the best nights ever. I still have the photos!
A real party starter 🕺💃
This song was released December 1982 from the album Computer Games, hence the computer game in the video.
Recommended songs Boo Gun , Do Fries go with that shake , Knee deep,,One Nation under a groove , Freak of the week , Body Slam by Bootsy Collins !
I’m mainly a metal head but I actually miss music like this
Mem-o-ries! so much fun to dance too! I think I won a pitcher of beer dancing to this back in the day,,,,,
fraternity would use this song in there step shows
Big like
The Atomic Dog was pure uncut funk from George Clinton 1982 . long before Snoop or any others sampled this Jam, let alone were making there own music. This Jam unseated MJ's Billy Jean from the number one spot on the R&NB charts. The Dog
I saw him with P-Funk (Parliament), Denver Colorado... changed my life☺ much love to you guys! You're one of my favorite reactors
i was a stupid 12 year old kid when this came out in 82---I was lucky enough to have a local public access music video show play this ALL THE TIME!!!!>>>loved it!!!!
