I’ve got an older 300 SMP, Hesalite Moon Watch, older Aqua Terra, and restored father’s 60’s era Seamaster DeVille. Now, I NEED that World Timer….

For me, Omega is the King of Movements in the brands that have offerings under 10 or 15K, over that of course, PFs, Pateks and A. Lange of the worlds start kicking with their incredible decorations and (barely practical but for the fun of it) complications. Spec wise, Omega is so god damn well engineered, it screams reliability. I remember one of their CEOs once answering to the point why Omegas are tuned to 0 to +5 seconds instead of the standard +- deviation. He stated that Swiss Trains are always on time and this reflects something quite intelligent, I want to look at my watch when I am running to catch a train or a meeting, I might as well reach earlier than missing them. The new Spirate system makes them the most accurate pure mechanical movement (Spring Drive uses piezoelectric effect). They made column wheel movements the norm, they focussed heavily on antimagnetic movements in a world full of electronics. Truly, Kings of reliable movements … There’s a reason why they passed NASA’s brutal tests over 50 years ago :) PS Also, very well priced and convenient to purchase

One huge plus for Omega is the weight of the watch. It looks & feels like a piece of fine jewelry, which it is.

Great 👍 vid! I’ve never understood why the Aqua Terra is under the Seamaster line-it says Aqua Terra on the dial. I like Omega but I think reducing some of the dozens of variations in their catalog would be beneficial.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. 👍🙌 I tend to agree. There's no doubt that one of the reasons Rolex is so profitable is that they have a far more lean collection. I mean - cerachrome is the only bezel type they do pretty much. Omega? Ceramic, titanium, steel, carbon. It drives up production costs. That and a lot of the watches are "samey"....

Wow you nailed it. Every model there’s an issue, whether it’s the Bezel, hour hands, hour markers, bracelet, no quick change bracelet, etc. Wanted an Omega this year but I can’t decide which one, too many options and variations.

I would like them to go back to offering quartz models, top notch eta quartz movements but next time with no compromise in build and finishing. Of course it'd be slimmer in its quartz version. I'd appreciate a Planet Ocean like that.
