Omega Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Limited Edition Review

In this video I review the Omega Planet Ocean in perhaps its most lusted after reference, the Liquidmetal Limited Edition ref: 222.30.42.20.01.001
The Planet Ocean is Omega's flagship luxury diver and today I'll be going over the features of this very modern dive watch whose design has little nods to the Omega dive watches of the 1960's. Does it live up to the hype?

    I have a 42mm PO (blue, titanium) and love it! In my collection I have several Rolex (including a Sub), JLC, Patek, etc. But I keep wearing my PO. Simply an amazing piece. Beautiful, robust, accurate, and different than the “standard” Rolex everyone gravitates to. Highly recommended!

    A beautiful watch. I would have one if it weren't for this one. Wears so nice, especially on that blue rubber strap with white stitching.

    I got the 37.5 titanium PO and I couldn't agree more it has a design pulled from omegas great history that differentiates it from the sub. Absolutely love mine.

    I own an older PO. I love it. Had it for 12 years, now gone in for it's first service. I like the review, I watch these all the time. I could not help noticing immediately that the font used on these numerals is close to IDENTICAL to that used by Glasshutte on their SeaQ Panorama date, as well as the smaller SeaQ!

    Well done, Dan!! I can see a marked improvement over your first video. Both the video quality and your commentary have improved immensely. You sound a lot more calm and confident. It's like your sitting in the pub telling your mate about the PO over a beer. It makes it very easy to listen to you. Thanks for the great review and, as usual, looking forward to seeing what you have for us next time.

    Your video just made my day. Bought the exact same watch not long after it was released and is my 2nd longest owned watch after a 2007 Seamaster Diver 300. Only changed to the rubber strap recently as I had lost 35 kg and the bracelet was just to hefty for my slimmer wrist. Your assessment is spot on. While the helium valve is more of a novelty for most of us, to me it does balance the overall symetry. The slightly wider right side would look to pronounce without the helium escape valve on the left side IMHO.

    You. aren't the first owner of this watch that I've come across whose owned it for many years. It has a certain something that helps it remain in a collection. I was a bracelet wearer too until I slimmed down. Love it on OEM rubber though. So comfy and looks very good too. I get the symmetry point, but I prefer watches without them :-)

    I bought this same watch new and still have it in my collection. It's a great watch and highly sought after on the second-hand market. There isn't a time when I'm wearing it, that I don't get an offer to sell it. I alternate on different straps, but I mainly wear it on a crocodile leather strap and it looks FANTASTIC!!

    Excellent review man I have the titanium liquid metal 37.5mm and wears like a dream on a OEM rubber strap bracelet is a little too thin. But the premium feel of the planet ocean is amazing. Like you said it pulls from the 1957 300 and I think that was the peak of sports watch design. Love how they have dresses them up now as well a building up the tool watch side with the new ultra deep. Omega is hitting both dressy and sports crowd but I think this is an excellent in between 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    Nice review, your PO 2500 liquid metal is beautiful and more rarely seen, I have the 42mm PO 2500C from 2009 with matte black dial/black bezel and white tri arabics " love the open 6 and 9 font" and I've only grown to appreciate this design more over the years as I feel it has a more elegant and understated toolish look compared to the newer shinier 8500/8900 models, now I know the newer version are technically superior and they are awesome watches but to me the 2500 has so much more of a direct design lineage from the classic Seamasters of the late 60's while still being a modern built dive watch, it's a timeless design that I'm happy to own, it'll always be in my possession.

    I’ve owned mine for almost 10 years now - and worn it almost daily. Pictures/videos don’t do this piece justice - you just can’t capture the vividness of the black gloss. I can tell you, this watch draws more eyes than many much more expensive watches - and that applies to both people in the know and laymen.

    Gday very nice review. I do beg to differ that the thickness is attributed to the 600m water resistance. I have the first gen PO and it is a pretty slim piece given its 600m water resistance. Not sure why your LE is thicker as it still has the 2500c movement in it!

  • @TheSurreyWatchGuy

    @TheSurreyWatchGuy

    Thanks for the comments. It has the same case as a regular 2500 PO. It is slim for 600m WR, but I find them a thick watch regardless. Still a great watch though.
