I just purchased that exact watch in memory of my dad because of the color orange was his favorite, with that white he would have loved it. It looks so much better in person. Videos and photos don't show true beauty of the color setup. This design and color setup is so unique. It gets many compliments. FYI I also have the exact 300M in the same color set up (Grey/Blue) as yours for My US Airforce retirement. That Planet Ocean and 300M are a great contrasting pair to have.

The 8900 Planet Ocean is the best watch I’ve ever owned. I don’t think Omega will change the formula very much but it’s going to be updated eventually. The Ultra Deep design is probably going to be close to how the next 600 meter version will look. I don’t see Omega discontinuing a 600 meter version in favour of the Ultra Deep. The middle market is worth more money to them.

I love the planet ocean but still think if it was 3mm thinner and had 2mm less diameter it would be the best diver overall out there - yes better than the sub imho. I agree about this color pairing, Omega should not discontinue this stand out option.

Bruce, I am a huge Omega fan. You left out one detail about the design of this beautiful watch- namely that the arrow hands match! The Aqua Terra don’t, and it looks like a person wearing 2 different socks! I bet if James Bond wore the Planet Ocean in a movie that sales would spike instantly!

They may discontinue the color scheme, but the Planet Ocean is here to stay. It's one of their best and most popular line. The Ultra Deep is amazing but far too large for daily usage for most people and is not a substitute for the standard Planet Ocean.

I own one of these, and it’s a great watch - comfortable for everyday wear, and with a really nice, substantial feel on wrist. I’ve got my eye on the BSOM next. Of course, these are not watches intended for everyone, any more than the original Panerai Luminors were. But if the PO design speaks to you in pictures/video, then you’ve really got to try one of these on and see/feel it in person. You won’t be disappointed!

The only thing that I would 'update' on the PO would be a shift of the date to the six position, otherwise leave it alone. I guess Omega will take stock of the sales compared to the SMP300 and the new >600M watches and do the numbers to see if it makes financial sense to update or possibly drop the current model. As for other Omega watches that may be due an update? A new Globemaster with the new spirate caliber would be good but keep the current dial and fluted bezel.

I was looking for a white dial diver's watch . DIVER 300M and I was worried about Planet Ocean 600M. The conclusion is Planet Ocean with an orange bezel. The reason is that the orange bezel gives it a more holiday feel than the black bezel.

I don't know if this color combination is going to be axed but I'm sure there will always be a Planet Ocean with an orange bezel. When I bought my orange PO Chronograph back in 2009 I had some doubts if my love for it would stand the test of time but I realized that it just grew over the years. Orange might be the perfect color for a summer watch but it is perfectly wearable during the rest of the year as well.

Hi Bruce. For me the PO is the real deal in Omega's catalogue and in the sport watches world in general. As you say, despite the thickness it's very comfortable and more wearable than the SMP 300 due to the shorter lugs. It doesn't have the "brick thick" feel of Tudors because of the way the mid case is constructed and has several layers. Great finishing, movement, bracelet... I love it.

I agree if you have many luxury watches, yes it would be nice to have something like this. However, for people that save up their money and spend that 5 to 7k on a watch and that is their only luxury watch, or 1 of maybe 2 watches, most people would want something more neutral that they can wear every day. I like it, but again, if I have a 1 or 2 piece watch collection, this is definitely not going to be in it
