Omdurman - How They Used To Deal With Jihadists

Фильм және анимация

A classic scene from the movie Young Winston. A good demonstration of how the British and Egyptian militaries dealt with the victorian Isis!!!!!
Some people writing comments seem to be very misinformed about the history of this conflict.
The British did not have control of the Sudan. It was under Egyptian control. The Mahdi called a jihad to destroy all muslims that opposed his self proposed righteousness. He believed himself to be the reborn prophet Mohammed. He intended to invade the whole of northern Africa, the middle east and the Ottoman empire. He would slowly purge everyone who did not worship him.
Upon completion of this task, he intended to purge europe, asia and the world of all the non islam heathens as well.
All ready facing invasion by the Mahdi and his literally millions of sycophantic followers. Egypt asked for Great Britain's help to stop the Mahdi's horde before it could threaten southern Egypt and Cairo itself. Realizing that the Jihadist horde taking Cairo would cost Britain it's most vital trade root through the Suez Canal and the potential threat to the stability of the region as a whole, the British government agreed to send military assistance.
And so a MUSLIM nation & a CHRISTIAN nation defeated the hardline, bloodthirsty and barbaric horde of the Mahdi TOGETHER.

This video was not uploaded to promote colonialism just as it wasn't supposed to encourage anti islamic sentiment ok. Can the morons who keep saying this battle was about poor tribes fighting against evil oppressive european invaders read a friggin book! This was battle was Egypt being invaded by a horde of blood thirsty religious fanatics who wanted to take the entire islamic world and force everyone to worship the Mahdi as Mohammed reborn. Egypt asked the British for aid in stopping them and the British did so as it protected Egypt in exchange for Egypt protecting the Suez canal. So please kindly all you self hating white arsehole snowflakes and you all you non white Britain hating wankers please just shut the hell up or fuck off somewhere else!

@@Shyhab yeah well the Nazis began becuz their economy collapsed and their country was emptied to the last cent and taken of all of half its land with no room for negotiation, but does that excuse them? NO. Half the goddamn world was colonised by the British and no doubt its horrid and evil, but so were the Mahdists for innocent slaughter and wanting to purge all infidels and reestablish slavery. An eye for an eye does not make the world better, however appealing it may seem. The Zulu's response to encroaching and conquering Brits did not help them in the long run either. We can all argue this a 100x times over and god knows if we'd get anywhere but all people are choosing for is what they think is the lesser of two evils in their opinion. Nobody who experienced it is still alive so we can't reach any proper agreement over it with all the conflicting narratives.

As Lord Kitchener well knew what damage massed ranks of natives had done at Isandlwana, he took few chances at Omdurman. He constructed his own line of supply, which included a railway to base depots, and brought up to the battlefield 57 breech loading artilliery pieces (not the Napoleonic era muzzle loaders we see in this film) with the latest "Shrapnel" shells which opened a fearsome barrage when the charge began, and then, when it got closer the Maxim belt-fed machine guns they took with them let rip, as well as the volley fire of the massed ranks of the infantry. Various sources from the time state how the men had to recycle their rifles as the got so hot from constant firing!

Napoleon said that. Stalin was a communist, they are atheists, they deny the existence of God, therefore he could not have said that, Stalin was never recorded saying that, because the communist don't believe there is a God. Napoleon said that, he believed there is a God, but he liked to stay out of religious subjects most of the time, he was record saying this to one of his field Marshalls before engaging a superior number of enemies, but he could beat them with his artillery, this would help him even the odds in the battle, so I am very sure that if Stalin ever said that, which has no historical support, then he must have used some other way of using this saying, but since this us not true, then the only one we can truly believe, ever ever said that was Napoelon Bonaparte, emperor of France, not Joseph Stalin, atheists and communist leader of the soviet union. And if this is not clear than read a book, this is how people never get the facts straight, little by little losing focus on what really happened, and wishing that such things might have happened, but alas, I reiterate for the last time, STALIN NEVER SAID THAT.

I think the reason the Charge of the Light Brigade would be considered more heroic is the fact Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions, a task for which the light cavalry were well-suited. There was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a frontal assault against a different artillery battery, one well-prepared with excellent fields of defensive fire.

Most of their conquests were made with armies formed mainly by mexican natives and gave the native elites a lot of privileges, obviously it never benefited the mayority of people, so also there were the rebel armies formed by native people the ones who kicked the spaniards out in the independence wars.
