Welcome to mirrorless buddy. The IS with olympus is terrific. No real complaints from me after 5 years of working with it...and I won't be going back to a DSLR either.

I actually got a mk3 too 😁. I tried the star af with the moon and it didn't work, maybe its only useable with stars

Just bought my EM1x and had my first shoot with it yesterday. Shooting my 300mm F4 and 40-150 F2.8. Impressions coming from the EM1.2. The EM1X is so much faster too focus and the bird tracking was incredible. Just a killer wildlife camera.

I was a Nikon shooter and made the switch to Olympus in 2016 with the purchase of the EM1 Mark II, now have the Mark III. I have the 12-40mm, 40-150 mm, 25mm Pro and 60mm Macro lenses. I love the micro 4/3 system, will never go back to FF!!

I am slowly catching up on your KZread video. Fantastic work shall I say, video, still and the background music. I respect that you didn't go all the way to disturb those bald eagles and chose to work from the distance. Many people would do it differently without thinking of the impact it will have on the animal. Well done!!

I switched from FF DSLR to Olympus in 2017 and haven't regretted it one bit. There's nothing the DSLR did that the olympus won't do but there is a lot that the olympus will do that the DSLR won't. In my opinion the FF mirrorless camers are only starting on the journey to the features the Olympus already has. Oh and the weather sealing with PRO lenses is awesome. Great video. Cant wait to see you do some astro work with it.

James the only thing I’ve noticed is the DOF is rough. I haven’t been able to get that buttery bokeh... we’ll keep trying

There is a fantastic function that you can assign to a fn button, I have it beside the lensmount. The digital teleconverter. In Video it´s fantastic! The camera will do a 2x crop into the sensor effectively doubling the reach and giving you a 2 times zoom when shooting video. It does crop from 20 mpixel to native 4K resolution. That means that you loose no quality in your 4K video at all using this feature. It works with all lenses but I enjoy it the most when shooting 4K video with my 300 mm Pro.

Great video and shots. I would like how you use your new camera shooting stars. I am waiting the arrive my own MSM star tracker to use it with my Oly Em1 mark 2 that has the same sensor than Em1 X.

The eagles looked fine. The 300 mm lens's in-lens image stabilization makes a huge difference. If you accidentally turn it off, the results are obvious. I've wondered about acquiring something like a Nikon Z7 to get large images of close objects. As an amateur who uses cameras for travel (my O-MD E-M1 II had a crazy travel year in 2019 with the 12-100 mm lens), I'm best off with a camera that's easy to carry around. For still photos of still objects, you can get somewhat larger images with panoramas and hand-held high resolution shots (with the E-M1X) or tripod. By the way, the lens focuses close, so might be perfect for watching hummingbirds. I haven't found one yet, despite a hummingbird-magnet bush outside the window.

BlueRusso I did notice how close it focuses. That was crazy. And the 2x converter seemed to help it to even a macro level of focus.

E-M1m3 also has hand-held hi-res mode.

I finally got an Em1x and I have to say that it almost makes me regret getting the Em1 Mk3 instead of the X. However I needed the Starry Sky af. I hear rumors that Starry Sky AF is coming to the Em1X via Firmware soon. Hence I purchased one. For video and wildlife its a beast though. Viewfinder is so much better too. Biggest viewfinder you can get with the exception of maybe two other cameras all priced over 4000$. The tracking and AI detection is really nice too. Could be better but that is because of the sensor. Cannot wait to see what a Mk2 Em1X will do. I will probably buy two as soon as they come out based on my experience with this camera.

Shoot... I just got the vert grip battery pack for my 3 to make it like the x..... I can't live without that starry AF! If it's on the x2 I might get my credit card out

Glad to hear you're loving your experience with Oly... love mine, although I shoot with the EM1mk2 and use a Pana Leica 100-400 for wildlife. Oly have a 150-400mm f4.5 with built in 1.2TC and IS due Fall 2020 that can also be used with the 2.0TC, so we're talking 1980mm of reach! I notice you mentioned nothing about Pro Capture, so if you haven't used it yet then I suggest you check it out - you'll love it for wildlife photography. And sooo jealous you have that sort of wildlife on your doorstep!

Just picked up a em1x with 1500 shuter actions I have panasonic lenses

I'd go with the Olympus all day! The Canon is a waste of money and not needed specs! Ps: I used to own everything Canon...

I can't believe there is only one comment about this, photos are really bad, not even close to FF quality

If you're shooting video at 1200mm, if you haven't already, try setting the image stabilizer mode to M-IS [1] and Video IS level to +1. Menu --> [Video] Icon --> [Video] AF/IS Settings --> [Video] Image Stabilizer --> M-IS [1] and Menu --> [Video] Icon --> [Video] AF/IS Settings --> [Video] IS Level --> +1
