I think you have to know the person so obviously Olivia knows her sister's history. When my sister got married, my boyfriend (future spouse) met my family for the first time at her wedding. We don't live near my family and we had only been dating for a year and a half by the wedding date, but my sister knows me and my history, so she was fine with me bringing him as my date.

But to say something so catty about your sister in public is so unnecessary. She could have gave a much more diplomatic response but instead she threw her sister under the bus.
