Experience the high-spirited adventures of Oliver Twist in this Oscar®-winning musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic tale! Young Oliver (Mark Lester) is an orphan who escapes the cheerless life of the workhouse and takes to the streets of 19th-Century London. He's immediately taken in by a band of street urchins, headed by the lovable villain, Fagin (Ron Moody), his fiendish henchman, Bill Sikes (Oliver Reed), and his loyal apprentice, The Artful Dodger (Jack Wild). Through his education in the fine points of pick-pocketing, Oliver makes away with an unexpected treasure... a home and a family of his own. Set to a heartfelt score that includes such favorites as "Consider Yourself," "Where Is Love?" and "As Long As He Needs Me," OLIVER! leads us on a journey in search of love, belonging and honor among thieves. Winner of six Academy Awards® (1968), including Best Picture and Best Score, OLIVER! will steal your heart!

I love how Fagin is more of a family friendly character compared to the book and other adaptations. Obviously Fagin is still a villain but it is implied he does care about his boys in contrast to the book where he doesn't care what happens to others, as long as he gets away with his crimes
Just a fantastic scene from the last greatest musical film of all time, Winner of 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture of 1968 !!!!!
Oliver's solo line... Than Fagin's "Awe!" Look.
1:51 the way he walks 😭
Some of the scenes in this movie are just incredible. The ending sequence with Oom Pah, the way it transitions into the tune. How Nancy is looking for a distraction, how Bill gets hyper zoom vision on Nancy and Oliver. Not of this scene but amazing. We'll never see the likes of it again
Learning the dance to this for my school musical - I'm auditioning as the Artful Dodger, wish me luck!

Good luck! It was a role I would have killed for as a kid… now I’m older I would love to be Fagin… but I’m not that old yet 😂😂
I like this scene because of how Dodger and Fagin's relationship is portrayed. While Fagin is a villain, it seems like he's got Dodger as someone he'll leave his legacy to. Like he's coaching him to be like him. I see myself in this relationship via the parking team at my church and my mentors. They aren't villains but same premise! Specifically 1:17, he's speaking to Dodger and Dodger is listening very clearly, even making eye contact. He doesn't speak to any of the other boys in that way. Also how Fagin has trust in Dodger to not mess up or get caught by the police, which means he and Dodger have a relationship. Dodger probably has a lot of trust in Fagin and I imagine he sees him as a father figure.

I think he does and appears to be Fagin’s favourite among the kid thieves or like a second in command and to Fagin, Dodger is gonna be a right little Bill Sykes (whom he taught) when he grows up. Dodger also brings Fagin new girls and boys (like Oliver) as he appears to have done it before. Dodger is even dressed similar to Sykes as Sykes was thought to be a role model.

We were gonna do this musical at my elementary school. Was looking forward to it. Don’t know why we didn’t do it
i feel like this song is in the same category as Heigh Ho or We're Off To See The Wizard
How old are these boys and how old would they be now?

Mark Lester, who played Oliver is 65 now, unfortunately most of the boys have most likely passed on. Jack Wild, who played Dodger, died at the age of 53 in 2006 after a battle to mouth cancer, Ron Moody, who portrayed Fagin, died in 2015 at 91. As for the others, you'd need to do a bit more research

@@EllieSchuyler is Mark still acting or is he retired? That is what I heard about Jack Wild poor kid I was he got treated. And Ron Moody died in 2015 the year before my father did I had no ideas he lived that long so he was alive when Roman Polanski did his version of Oliver Twist I wonder if he made a cameo scene in that version. Or even The actors who played the kids like Mark and Jack? And I found out one of the child actors was in that Hallmark Entertainment version about The Lusitania.

@chrismaccool9097 No, Mark stopped acting in 1977 unfortunately. Also, I'm so sorry for your loss, hope everybody is alright. I cant find anything about any of the other child actors in this scene though.
