this song is a masterpiece but i feel like the backround noise in the original of the sicadas/crickets adds an extra depth to the song also it feels like your whole soul is in the other version IMO.

Yep. This version is great, as is the rest of the album. But this specific song seems to hit much harder with the slower and more raw version.

I recorded the original version the same day I wrote it, high, drunk and defeated. It will always be the official version.

the fact that he changed the words from the liquor and the bowl been saving my soul. To the liquor and the bowl been numbing my soul shows his evolution in such a small amount of time. This man is saving so many of us. I truly thank you. I really needed this tonight as a man of faith who is kicking the habbit. Sure hope to see you live some day soon

First time i heard this song and Oliver Anthony in general it was my third day in rehab I was defeated I put my hands up and surrendered and this song hit me on a different level. Today I’m 45 days clean and his music brings me peace. Thank you brother keep doing you’re thing this is the music people need to hear. ❤

In my life the difficulties have always been when I give my problem to the Lord. Then I take it back instead of leaving it there. The victories come when I leave it in His hands and stop taking it back.

This is a great song, it needed to be re recorded... I've been sober for almost 30 years. It was not worth it. I can't go back to drinking and here in Reno, NV ... there aint chit for sober people. AA here is a dictatorship of bleeding deacons who deliberately obfuscated the Big Book for their own money, property and prestige. Sobriety is isolation and extremely pointless. Great song tho, I love the crickets in the other version too.

I REALLY love this. For obvious reasons, the original will always be 'the favorite' for most... but I really appreciate having a new 'Oliver Anthony Studio Version' album to be able to get a record when it comes out, and I appreciate the subtle changes you made here and there (like numbing vs. saving in this song) that really tie together the theme of having the great snippets of scripture throughout. It's just a great work man. Everyone playing and the people mixing it deserves kudos. Great blending.

The song actually made me tear up not like balling but a tear definitely came down my face I used to have a severe drug problem and I don't know what it is about this song it gets to me I can't explain it I just felt it I know something helped me give me exactly what I needed when I needed it now I pay attention I'm always given exactly what I need and I'm never given more than I can handle I'm giving exactly the tests I need to make me better

I like this version a little more than the original. Both are very good. We all need some help and love and guidance!

Dear Chris, You must always remember your story only has two ways of ending. They will either corrupt you, our they will crucify you.

Should of left saving, maybe not polktically or socially correct, but those who live it get it. It ain't great but thats why this song calms the soul and provides respit, not numbing.

Listen to the album "Shadows Collide with People" by John Frusciante, and compare it to the acoustic demo version of the album. To me there's no comparison, the raw acoustic version hits so much harder. I have a buddy that's the same way, the best thing he ever recorded was just him and an acoustic guitar. Some guys are just like that. Would love to see the band for a live show, but don't stop recording songs in the woods brother!

Thankful for original raw music with instruments and no autotune. I don’t want perfect songs written safely by a politically correct sheep. I want this. The real deal.
