I bought the Warrior 3S in Regal Blue and it just arrived today! It took 8 hours for the initial charge (something that's always worth mentioning) and this thing is **gorgeous**! Amazing UI and I love the beam profile!! I just switched from the original Warrior Mini, which was - and still is - a great EDC. But the 3S is stunning! Thanks for your fantastic review!

The initial charges take a very long time on these light's because it kicks into a trickle charge mode after the battery is almost full constantly fully charging it decreases the life span of the battery.

I have always found those type of hotspots appealing... Well focused, with even spread but large enough for close-up use. Very much fits the "tactical" definition in my mind, but way more useful than one would think. I don't have it any more, but there used to be a small Inova light that had an optic which produced a very similar hotspot with virtually NO spill. It was weird, not very useful and quite dim... This is a big improvement upon that.

I am a tiny snob like you. And at one time I would agree with you that a cool white low CRI LED would have its place. But I just don’t think it does anymore. You proved it in the video where you modified the same model as this. You only lost 200 lm which a person can’t see that but gained so much. There are some really good efficient high CRI LEDs now. I know I don’t have to tell you this you know more about the stuff than I ever will. I just got a Noctagon dm11. With the XHP 50.3. Hi in 4000 K. Mine came out quite neutral as well. Hardly any green. And it’s fantastic. I just don’t feel that using efficiency as an excuse is true anymore. That being said, most people do prefer cool white. And regular people is who they market to not people like us.

Its an amazing light and i have a few Olights but they really lose a lot of sales because people want to use non-proprietary batteries and not have to use a special charging cord. Although the cord is nice i would rather have usb type-C. If Olight made these two changes I honestly think their sales would be 30-50% more! They should have two versions of the same light. 1- proprietary battery + magnetic charging cord 2- one with a normal battery and usb-c charging. The sales would show what customers want. Take a look at the Fenix Tk20r V2.0

Agreed on both points. I got into flashlights about the same time you wrote this comment, five months ago. I've now got over $1500 in lights, and none are Olight. The battery charging / thing was the issue always. All my lights can take generic 18650/21700 cells and all take basic type C charging. There is nothing wrong with the magnetic charger. It's neat, works well and seems durable. I just want one charger for all my toys, makes being away from the house even easier with one charger that always works. Also, Olight will likely stop making that battery before most of those lights die. That seems like planned obsolescence at worst and annoying for me at the least. I love how I can grab whatever batteries are charged up and grab whatever charger and just go! I often trade cool and trendy for simpler and convenient.

I bought the baton 3 pro as my first ever Olight. A few months after I got it the sensor failed causing the light to auto dim in any setting….. had to return it. And since they disabled it on all new baton 3 pro models. First impressions are lasting. I almost outright swore off olight permanently. But their customer service was so good I decided to give them a second chance. I returned the baton 3 pro and am waiting on the warrior 3s as its replacement. I decided on this one because u can disable the sensor. I personally think adding a point of failure to a edc item is just not logical and wish the light didn’t have the sensor at all. But being able to disable it gives me hope. But if this light is a dud they will get no more chances from me. I have my fingers crossed tho. I loved that baton3pro.

If the light worked as good as the box.. A consumer buys this light for the 2300lm Turbo Mode but turbo only last 2.5 minutes, you can reset turbo one-time and it will last 1 additional minute the second time for a total of 3.5 minutes of turbo? After turbo is spent the light ramps down to 800lm High Mode which has an unpleasant greenish tint and poor beam pattern. The magnetic charging is a nice feature but if you plan to recharge between short Turbo uses so turbo will continue, nope! After 3.5 minutes of Turbo is used up, the light won’t charge because too much charge remains in the battery to activate the charge cycle, you can’t top-off the battery? The only way to get the light to recharge is to drain additional battery power using a lower output setting (high, med, low) until the charge circuit recognizes the battery requires recharging at about 3 bars of charge. So this is a beautifully made flashlight with a great user interface that last 3.5 minutes, after that your left with an oversized underpowered light with a green tint emitter and poor beam pattern? The Warrior Mini 3 outperforms the Warrior 3S and truthfully I’ve got 15 year old 18650 lights that are smaller, brighter with better runtime..

  • @cheule

    @cheule

    Жыл бұрын

This is a valuable insight. Only solutions I can think of: 1) remove the clip altogether 2) purchase spare clips 3) try to locate a 3rd party press on clip that is one way The last point is probably the best option for you, and flashlight forums are usually filled with replacement clip suggestions when a clip is bad on a light, but unfortunately in this case the clip is pretty darned good. So you might have to solo hunting to do! Report back if you find something better and I’ll sticky your comment.

I've demonstrated turbo to many people and they're like "wow that's bright" then I show them strobe and they can't even stand to look in the direction of the light, so it can be more effective than just turbo. Maybe it's just me, but when I watch a review as in depth as yours tend to be, I enjoy seeing all of the features and functions, even if I already know all of them. I thought I knew all the Warrior 3S had to offer, but I actually learned something from your review. Some folks don't know and many don't read the manual. As an EDC light I'd prefer NW (as I have on my B3 Pro). I don't truly need that slightly more illuminating power from CW for "EDC". Wonder what they're going to do with the 2023 version :) And how soon will they announce it (I'm assuming they will....).....hope they up the lumens in the L/M/H range....if they put an extra 1000 lumens on Turbo....great. If not....no big deal....never use Turbo anyway. :) So far.... Like to see a new I5r eOS with a M mode of maybe 120-150....up L to 30 lumens....then I might get one on a sale. :) Like to get a AA powered EDC about 4" in length with 3 useable lumens modes....or 2 plus the "H"...O and I'd love to see Olight lengthen the 2023 w3s "Max" to somewhere between 5.5-6"....prefer lights that extend pastt the edge of my hand...for a more comfortable underhnd grip.

So many negatives to be considered a good light. Proprietary battery and only one option of a specific cable to charge it is a huge no. Huge for edc, non magnetic tailcap to mount it on metal surfaces. Not able to tailstand. Maybe it is prone to accidental switch ons on the front button, if you need to lock it every time it's a no no for edc. I can't seem to grasp the idea of why this is a good edc light. And it's also expensive. The only good thing i see here is the color lol. Thanks but pretty much any offering from sofirn, wurkkos and the likes beats this light in all the above parameters that I've mentioned. Sofirn's sc31pro with a magnetic tailcap is a far better edc light than this thing. I mean what do you do when you're in your car and you need to charge it? Bring with you the olight cable each and everytime? That alone beats the edc purpose. Olight has lost their way in my opinion. They should follow what other companies do and if they want the can keep their prices up. But for god's sake, bring a type c charging port like everyone else in this world. Make it a 18650 so it can fit in jeans pocket without protruding much. Give the option of a magnetic tailcap, and if you want to insist in the tactical form with tailbutton then at least add an attack bezel on it. Just do what everyone else does and keep the prices up due to higher quality, nicer finishes, better packaging etc. But don't try and sell me something that is inferior to the competion and costs 4 times as much. People will notice

You've posted quite the comment! Allow me to correct a few things you've said, and also offer a different perspective. The tail of the Warrior 3S is magnetic. It sticks to metal fine. It tail-stands as well. Seems like you haven’t used one; you should! My iPhone 13 pro has a non-removable battery and a proprietary magsafe charging cable. I love it, because the magnetic cable just snaps into place. No fumbling in the dark when I go to bed to plug in a cable. Same is true for the Warrior 3S. I’ve never had to charge in the car, but if I wanted to, carrying the magnet cable is about the same as carrying a USB cable (because again I don’t have one in my car, iPhone here). As far as the price, $109 for the aluminum version is really a good price when you consider the fact that it has a boost driver, optical bounce sensor, and really wonderful UI LED setup. These are feature you just don't get on the $40-50 range of lights. You’re entitled to your opinion, but I think that in practice these issues you bring up are more diminutive that you believe.

@@cheule The thing is and i don't know about you and where you live but here in europe everyone is using type c for almost every device imaginable. So there are type c charging cables everywhere, in your house, your car, your business, your friends business, your friend's house everywhere. I don't know about the cost of the proprietary Olight cable but a European would need at least 3 or 4 laying around in order not to have to bring the one coming with the light everywhere. That's another added cost, beats the edc purpose, plus buying an extra battery for when you need immediate refill. Olight just does things wrong. Look at all these comments people make about them about the proprietary batteries and charging cables. There is a reason so many people aren't buying this hype Olight tryna sell. It's a pity a fc12 excels in so many levels and comes at 1/5th of the cost. And it's not about money either. I own lights that cost as much as that one, but these are 10 times more capable too(Convoy L8, also a type c chargeable light). For 110$ id rather have 5 fc12's laying around in different colors and know i have a better light in hand than this anytime. Heck even a non rechargeable light that accepts any other cells seems like a better option than this one. Hank's lights come to mind, even some Convoys. The truth is that this light isn't the one you'd edc. I don't know why you try and defend this company so much about that. You act like you would try and convince us that a thrower without any means to make it's beam floodier is a great choice to edc. No it isn't. And a light this big and with so many proprietary stuff going on also isn't. But I'll give you this, it's a beautiful looking light. I just don't see the positives of owning such a light like you for some reason do. And it's fine. I'll leave it here. You've stated your reasons for owning one and I've stated mine for not buying one. People can make up their own mind

The Thrunite TT20 beats this Olight by far. Just bought the titanium Olight, same color as his, the "fire" unit. Removed the pocket clip to change its position, scratched the anodizing right off. What a fucking joke. And the choices for lumen adjustment just seem stupid. The Thrunite has infinite up and down just by holding the button. Superior all the way.

Your opinions are valid of course. However, my Fire Ti ano never scratched with the clip removal, and in fact I’ve had quite the opposite experience-my ThruNite clips often get chipped on the first day of use. I tend not to worry too much about it, because any flashlight you use enough will show wear eventually. Lastly, between the moonlight and low the Warrior 3S has, I’m never wanting for finer grain control over output. I used to really like ramping UIs like Anduril, but over time I now prefer stepped clicky UIs, for 1) speed and 2) knowing precisely what output I’m at, and consequently what runtime and heat I’ll get.

I understand what you mean, but since it comes with a battery, and honestly I lose or break flashlights far before I have to replace the battery-it hasn’t bothered me at all.

I don't like Olight flashlights because its 21700 batteries can't be charge by Universal battery chargers and not fully water proof even you tide it very tight.

Only 2000 lumens, with low CRI? No thanks for that kind of price. Id rather chose Astrolux, Sofirn,Emisar etc. Much better flashlights

Good luck finding a light with the same quality machining, 2 stage tailswitch, and also a dual switch setup all at once. Olight is overpriced but this thing truly is one of a kind.

Also most people aren't using 2000lumens, maintaining 1k lumens is rare even for a 21700 form light.
