    I have the original m2r warrior copper. Love it but like all mag switch olights, big issues with steel filings getting into the tail switch causing it to come on turbo in the pocket. I have a load of olights but think I'm done with them over the tail switches

    I wish they’d fix that! I use these as everyday carry lights so haven’t had too many issues with metal filings. Out in my shop I use a wall mounted stream light for that reason, I do a fair amount of grinding & stuff out there so do like anything with magnets out there.

    this might be the best EDC light on the market. Smart UI. Adding the tail switch modes. Most of the time you'd be using Low or MED anyway. Nice to have quick acces to L via the side switch and M with the tail switch...and of course quick acces to turbo from using either button....only wished they had raised the candel a on the Turbo mode to 40k or 60k...or the same as the Javalot Mini at 88k...why not? Turbo mode would be used a long distances anyway.... Interested o see what Olight does witw the 4s. Odd they haven't announced it yet...

    It would be nice if it produced more candela. But actually… it’s good they didn’t increase the lumen output and I’ll tell you why. When you increase the lumen output, naturally the light is going to heat up quicker. The battery is going to have voltage sag… which if there’s too much at 1 time can actually damage the battery and its chemistry. Next the LED (light emitting diode) will heat up either at the substrate (material it’s affixed to) or burnout. This has happened with some models of thrunite lights. Feel free to google that. Lastly, IF Olight decided to increase the Lumen output… from 2,300 even to another “modest” extra 1,000 lumens to 3,300 lumens…. You’re going to have LESS runtime available on turbo mode. Like 30 seconds at MAX. That’s it and both the battery and LED need time to recover from heat and power drain. This is why the Nitecore MH12 Pro with the new UHI LED only lasts 30 seconds on turbo before an aggressive thermal shutdown. Your light will have better overall performance metrics and longevity the way Olight purposely engineered it. 2.5 minutes of turbo is engineering in the longevity of the light. Olight did it that way so as not to destroy any part of the light. I digress. The lumen war is almost at end because a flashlight in a compact form cannot harness and control inherent heat build up from newer and more powerful leds.

    Actually the Warrior 3S beam has plenty spill. And the center spot of the beam is like a spot light.

    How would you compare it to Warrior Mini 2 ? Also what model of pressure plate is compatible with it ?

  • @gearsNtools

    @gearsNtools

    Жыл бұрын

    The Warrior 3S uses the larger 21700 Battery while the Warrior mini 2 uses the smaller 18650 cell. This gives the warrior 3S better runtimes at higher outputs! Warrior 3S is also a little bit bigger. The comparable tactical pressure switch is: remote pressure switch sROD-7 Here is a link if you want to check it out: amzn.to/3L8dqry

    if its for a rifle or police duty etc get the 3s, if its for civilian EDC and self defense i think id rather have the warrior mini 2 (unless you insanely huge hands). If its small and light, odds are higher you'll actually carry it. I have the warrior mini 2 myself. For a light for example for having beside your bed at night beside your fighting knife or revolver, i think the warrior x 3 is best.

    A person buys this light for the 2300lm Turbo Mode but here is the deal breaker.. Turbo only last 2.5 minutes then ramps down to 800lm High Mode. You can reactivate Turbo a second time but it only last 1 additional minute. You have to recharge the light before turbo will work again? Deal breaker 2: Once you use Turbo for 3.5 minutes total and attempt to recharge, the battery will not recharge because the overall battery life is still too charged to enter charge mode? You have to drain off additional battery before the charge circuit will engage. Deal breaker 3: 800lm High Mode (or Medium or Low) have a greenish tint emitter combined with a poor beam pattern (too little spill) so essentially you end up with the vast majority of the runtime spent with an unpleasant green tint under-performing beam. I literally have 15 year old 18650 lights that outperform this Warrior 3S once you burn off the 3.5 minutes of turbo. Very nice light if it wasn’t for these deal breakers..

    Olight mmc does not charge at 100% and also dont recharge if its only a little used. Thats why i use a NitecoreCi4 to charge all Olights from 16350 to 21700.

    I as well EDC the Warrior 3S and it is deep pocket clip carry able. Meaning it will fit all the way down your pocket and is also concealable. I am just guessing here… if your a shorter person, smaller pockets might make this light harder to edc. I’m 6 1 and it fits great in my pants pocket

  • @aquasound-escapes898

    No… you don’t. Let the heat build up dissipate/ internal temp of the light as well as give the battery a BREAK because of the voltage sag you just generated. These lights aren’t meant to do turbo over and over. Really all you need is 10 a 30 seconds at MAX using it. I use turbo intermittently 10 - 20 at most and it works great throughout the life of the battery. Naturally when the battery/ voltage gets too low (30% and below) I don’t use it.
