That's an amazing system! Congratulations to both of you for all your work. I have been trying to mod 5e into something more to my liking for years, but I guess I am too lazy to actually create a book and have it properly compiled somewhere. I first heard of Olde Swords Reign a few weeks ago, and when I saw it's "5e old-school" with a free pdf, I immediately went to check it out. An hour or so reading through it + the incredibly affordable price convinced me to buy it for myself and my group. I cannot state how much I relate to these rules. It is as if someone read my mind and changed exactly what bothered me in 5e and said "Here we go. Have this incredible Christmas present". OSR is lean, dramatic and character progression is dreamy. The system makes me fear danger and have to actually focus on the game. It allows me to create characters that are meaningful and make hard choices. Man, it made me excited to level up again! I will stop here since I feel I already went overboard. I guess all that matters is this: thank you. :)

I've just discovered Olde Swords Reign last week through another video by you and Adventures With Dice! (Huzzah! to you sir!) and I am looking forward to diving into this system as a replacement for 5 e. I've played 5 ed since 2016, bought most of the hardbound adventures, but never ran a single one of them. I've homebrewed my own campaign world, ran Goodman Games' Fifth Edition Fantasy series adventures, and their "Into the Borderlands" OAR; all of which are on so many levels above the official 5 ed dreck that I'm considering selling off my old 5 ed books. For a few years now, I've wished for a condensed version of 5 ed to run, without the inherent glut of classes & baked-in superhero abilities, and O.S. Reign seems to have done everything for me. I'm so impressed with Olde Swords Reign, that I am on my way to the Amazon store this afternoon to purchase the hardback rules, paperback rules & 2 player's handbooks! (I'll get the PDFs too now, since it helps you out...) Looking forward to future videos to see what you and others come up with! Cheers!

I just wanted to say thank you for the work you did on this. I genuinely believe that by resolving some of the crunch issues in classic D&D you've broadened the appeal so much. I'm bringing 3 old school guys and 2 total rookies into a game, and the simplification and streamlining make it so much more accessible to them and easier for me. I'm going on here, but i really just wanted to say thank you! Your hard work makes our beloved game more accessible to new players, and that's brilliant! All the best to you, and thanks!!! 👽👍🏼

@@fumbletablethat's amazing! I'm working on a system agnostic campaign setting and if it looked like something up to scratch, I'd happily hand it over for use in OSR. giving back matters to me. Like you, I'm not interested in money, just love of the game.

@@DamienFegan Right on! I just think it would be ridiculously cool to make something other people may dig and play. Is there a discord or something like that that I can join? I'll keep working on lore, etc., and once you're in a spot where contributors may become a thing, I can send it your way.

Hey found your book about 4 months ago. Really nice approach to old school feel with some more clean modern mechanics. Love the zine idea - maybe like Carcass Crawler for OSE or Cursed Scroll for Shadowdark. Keep plugging away. Best of luck.

Really amazing approach to playing ttrgps - making everything be about guided emergent gameplay - I don't get to play face to face -so it's been online only for me, but my play experiences have been best when the DM is open to what the group wants to do - maybe it doesn't cover all the beats of what they prepared but they were focused on the group at the time and finding fun out the player's full engagement. Thanks for your efforts with this channel - I wish you well with your game and it's future.

Thank you. For my it's the same as a DM. When the game is lead by the players I feel like I'm playing a well. I know where they are going to start but after that all bets are off

Hey There. Sorry, the discord link keeps timing out. discord.gg/bxgvq8KSA . Advanced is no longer available, the current version is essentially the baby of advanced and the original. The aim was to give the flexibility to play either closer to the original or add layers to create almost any class.

I think an advanced companion book would be the simplest way to achieve this balance (I hope) Just a second book, probably comparable to the size of the players guide, with more options and expanded mechanics, all player centric information. I understand why you wouldn't want to sell a second GM's and players guide, but this might allow you to bridge the gap in a more affordable and practical way.

I've a feeling the decision will make itself as we build content. Maybe that and a separate monster and loot type book. It will take a while to build but I think the quantity of content will probably swing it one way or the other.

You probably have the right vision. A companion book for both the player and GM. That'd probably also keep it more reasonable in terms of page count. As much as I like having more and bigger books, it doesn't really make sense for where you're at with the property to replace your core-books every year.@@fumbletable
