I'm 72, and on the day that I was born, our neighbor gave us a half Timber wolf/half Border Collie puppy. We named him Amigo. He saved my life 3 times. Once when a pet raccoon almost drown me when the boat we were in sank, and the racoon kept climbing on to my head. Amigo pulled it off of me and they had a big fight. He saved me again when a wild cow, with a new calf, charged me and was stomping me. Amigo came between the cow and me. He kept biting it until she ran off. The 3rd time was when Amigo and I were walking in deep woods, and a mountain lion started stalking us. It jumped at me, Amigo bit it in the stomach. And kept fighting it while I ran to safety. Amigo had to have a lot of stitches and spent a while in the vet hospital. But, he healed and lived 19 years. My hero always.

19 years? that's remarkable! It seems, we also have a wolve dog, from Romania, but in former generations (2-4)... she looks a lot like a wolve, and acts like (she shreddered the whole console of my car, when I left her for 10 min), ...and her communication with other dogs was, from the beginning, special. But she's very loyal and her job, to protect me, she enjoys. So, where I walk with her, I feel very save! now she is an old lady (12), and she gets a lot calmer. we love her so much!

Awesome to have such a great caregiver and in return faithfulness from the dogs (wolves).

Grew up with a elderly lady in the village raised wolves, she would walk through the village with them and everyone would cross the street to other side, she was a sweetheart and the wolves never hurt anyone ever.

This was in a little village where I grew up in Ontario Canada called Eden Mills. In the 60s-70s.

Been in love with wolves going on about 40 years now. They are remarkable animals. And I am never surprised at how loyal they are.

I don't think they see her as part of the pack. Just as another animal who helped them. Many animals can show gratitude for being helped. They're not mindless bots, they just aren't as smart as us

Over my years, I’ve seen animals do amazing things for each other, including humans. This woman raised them, they view her as mother. Animals you raise, look at you like no other person. Some can turn on you but wolves, for example, look you in a different light. They should never be kept in captivity, but have a different family-oriented social mindset. They saved that woman because they saw an immediate threat to not only them but her and proved that they protect the territory, just as in a wild setting.

I had a little Schipperke, a small black Nordic breed, extremely faithfull, she would run to put herself between me & my husband, even snarled at other kin , actually ripped a visitors pants cuff ( we forgot to tell a male friend of my husbands we had a new dog). I still cry about her , since she died over 10 yrs ago. Best dog ever!

I had a Rottweiler for 13 years and when I got him the gentleman said you know they only live 8 years...I was so busted up about it...!!! I prayed GOD please let me find him dead when I get home from work because I did not want to be the one to put him down...Unfortunately GOD said you loved him ..I gave you an extra 5 year's with him ...now you do the most unselfish thing anyone can do for an animal that brought you so much joy ...Every one that met that animal loved him... at first they were nervous but he had a personality like no other ...!!! They loved him ...!!! One lady was nervous about her kids and he actually herded them if they wandered to far past the swings .. She was amazed... !!! But that breed is protective yes ... but only if you give him an excuse.. He loved kid's..!!!You give an animal love you get back so much more .. ❤️

Animals seem to show a lot more compassion than most people. Thankfully this woman had enough compassion herself to help these animals. She never expected anything in return, but the wolves certainly did return their love to her.

My hubby had a wolf hybrid, Bear. Hubby and I were the alpha. After our daughter was born, I had no problem letting her play in the backyard. Bear was always there. Nobody messed with him. Big and silent. Just watched always. Beautiful animal he was.

In any case, she was right to care for them. It was motherly love that caused them to willingly risk their lives for her. She is their leader and they loved her.💖🐺👵

I believe this story. Animals have feelings and they do remember acts of kindness. Once my wife and I were burning brush outside, when this baby pheasant wondered out from under the smoking branches, and fell over in front of us. We put it in a cage with food and water. Over a two week period, we nursed it back to health and released it. The following year we were outside and this full grown beautiful pheasant landed in the yard and started following us around very close to us. It wouldn't let us touch it, but it wasn't afraid, either. My wife still believes that bird was the one we rescued.

Awe this story reminds me of my dog 🐕 and I he came to our lives at a low point we met him and a few other dogs at the shelter . He came over and put his front paws on me as too say hi can you take me home , he was small for a large dog and was only 1 year old stray picked up by the humane society. He was skinny , and a little bit scared but excited he gets to be in a home wit a family, we have fed and loved him a he is very protective with me and my small family too , he would growl and bark at strangers a lot until he was more acustimed to a home who has some guests . He has grown a boy and He still keeps an eye on our guests n who are new to him and alerts us that someone is at the door, This story made my day thanks for sharing.

If we humans encroaching on their territory, which gives rise to conflicts, isn’t one of the potent reasons, I don’t know what is .. 😊 Secondly, and most importantly, it is us humans who attack unprovoked, sometimes for their fur and sometimes just for fun. Now you decide who is more abhorrent, they or us.

@@SidJ8300 Yes I do think some animals attack unprovoked it happens alot. I was attacked by a dog once whilst minding my own business across the road. Many predators attack on instinct regardless of the threat of the other being in front of them, cats torture and play with their prey even with no intention of killing them to eat. That nonsense about encroaching on their territory is completely baseless and illogical, the earth is our territory as much as any other animals otherwise you could say the rabbit gets killed by the eagle because it encroaches on its territory. Your asserted most important point is also completely illogical, I don't attack animals unprovoked, I assume you don't and many others don't either so your blanket statements slighting all humans whilst defending all animals shows an abhorrent misanthropic mindset in yourself. Wake up, some animals do Not love unconditionally. Period.

That’s precious. Reminds me of my loyal buddy. A dachshund who was with me for 13 years. He always brought me joy and was a fearless, loyal, companion. Love ya Oscar.

The wolf kind/breed of canine is one of the highest-priced and now this story depicts the reason why. They are never ordinary creatures - they are extraordinarily special. So touching, so true.

I've never had a wolf, but have had some amazing dogs in my life. We had a siberian husky when I was growing up, who was amazingly protective and welcomed us to the family (we were adopted by relatives, but the husky treated us like we'd been there forever). Then, while dating my ex, we had a police K9 hungarian shepherd (very similar to the german) but he was eventually with me most of the time, as my SO had been cut back to part time at the police station and had to take up over-the-road trucking again. Diego became as loyal to me as he was to my SO, who had trained him. I never felt as safe as I did with that dog. He slept with me every night and was basically my shadow. Now, years later my son didn't want a really big dog just yet, so we've downsized to a chihuahua lol. And he too, is amazingly protective of us, and his hearing is so insane (I can't believe what he can hear that we don't). He won't let anyone get near our home without alerting us to it, definitely would deter someone trying to break in.

It's a really good story I feel that the wolves felt love and they were taken care of and they trusted the lady 100%. I'm glad that the story turned out the way it did

... I just want to say goodbye to my 21 year old cat 3 days ago I spent a theird of my life with her and I can't believe she gone so much love we share together...

Wolves are one of the Purest Animal in the world in terms of relationship. Their family Orientation is just beyond understanding for such a class. Always like the their loyalty and patriotism.

That was so beautiful we love to hear good comes out of it watching it from Alberta Canada

Great!!! My daughter and I were speaking with a man as we were waiting in the emergency room years ago New Jersey for some kind of treatment from an injury, and he said that he had two wolves but he had to pay $5,000 for each one to KEEP them, and that they were very friendly and no threat to anybody so I always remember how I feel so surprised that someone could actually own a wolf. He showed us pictures of them and they were absolutely beautiful.

Great story. It makes sense. All canines respond to consistent love and care by humans. Wolves who are domesticated like these at a young age would be no different. It's very confirming to see how human love overcomes the most aggressive wild animals even after growing up.

I adore wolves and was so glad this one had an happy ending. Thankfully Maria took in 4 wild animals wolf cubs whom would have surely died. These animals had an affinity with Maria they saw her as the head of the pack. Dogs are predecessors of wolves anyway, and so these adult wolves behaved as loyally as any dog would have done in protecting the hand that loved and fed them. This story exemplifies the bond and connection between mankind and nature..which can be a very strong bond if we humans allow it to be..I dearly loved this story and so thanks for sharing it! 👍

The Wolves were domesticated wolves and unfamiliar with the ways of the wild. Like all other dogs they exude kindness for kindnesses and reciprocated likewise like any other family dogs and instincts of protections surfaces when their loved ones are in anyway distressed or threatened. Good for the Wolves and the Lady who mothered them from pups. Love prevailed.

It's truly great. I love this true story. When we give our love to any animal, they know how to repay. But some humans sadly thou intelligent amongst all don't have this what animals have.

I recommend a book about wolves by author Farley Mowat entitled NEVER CRY WOLF. Fantastic true story of Mowat's study of wolves. Magnificent animals.
