Old Top Gear: 2001 | Lexus SC, Rover 25, Ford Mustang
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
One of the final series of 'Old Top Gear' before it was cancelled and refreshed in late 2002. This episode was presented by Jason Barlow (after he'd left C4's Driven), Vicki Butler-Henderson shortly before she moved to Fifth Gear, Tiff Needell and Adrian Simpson.
This episode features the Lexus SC, Rover 25, Ford Mustang, a piece on personalised number plates, and a sporty Range Rover.

The MR2 is still running to this day!! props!!!
I'm pretty sure that Jason was test driving the Lexus on the Blue Ridge Parkway which runs through western NC from Cherokee in the Great Smokey Mountains running northeast and paralleling the TN/NC stateline before ending in VA - no other road looks like it

Looks like that Lexus had 30 day tags on it. It’s possible. The stone guard rails are classic BRP.
Where did you go, 2001?

Nearly twenty years ago now!
This show without Clarkson is like a Ferrari without a Prancing Horse. It just isn't right.
And they used to think: “Where did you go, 1967?”.
I really love how intro reflects present time. Like, for example, this sign with "Electric" deviation and these esthetics of early 00's nostalgia. The music also matches the footage vaaary noice, combining both nature's force and beauty with cars' sterile perfection. Long focus lens is the best option there, thanks to the cameraman. Btw, who is this guy at 0:15? He is really intriguing!

Very much Cool Britannia
18:39 Alex Riley, is that you? 🤣😂
I remember sitting it that Lexus SC430 in the Mayfair dealership when I was 13. Slick haired, passive aggressive posh wanker salesman opened the door and just silently stared at me with an old couple. Ah memories!
Les Edgar, with the Aston plate, is now the owner of TVR
SDX 918 - still on the same Xantia in 2018...

It's still on the same Xantia in 2020. The registrations C4 UTY and 25 DEC are still on the same cars on this video as of 2020, too! The registration H14 UTY is now on 2016 Volkswagen Polo GTi!
Pretty sure the music at the start of the MGB/Mustang review comes from James Bond You Only Live Twice.
Somebody please invent a time machine. Future I mean “present” is nothing what we hoped
Oh, those John Barry strings...... best part of the programme.
Hmm, my assumptions about the owners of private registration numbers have been confirmed.
Poor guitar player had play against that monotonous noise. Hope he got paid plenty. Also that '67 Mustang needs new leaf springs.
Vicky and Tiff look ridiculous young that's weird
That SC430 didn't get the panning I was expecting, history has treated it harshly for good reason it's hideous
Oh God that Luxury Express for the US by Toyota.
What! no rallying? 😂
This is actually rather interesting history considering that there are embryonic elements of fifth gear and newer top gear here. But its easy to see why its cancelled, minus Vicki's review the rest of the show is drab and boring.

@Videos of the past "should have ".
The 25 was such a god awful shit mobile its incredible that they sold this at the same time as the 2001- Corolla. Hideous everything.

By 2001 the Rover 2000/25 was clearly long in the tooth and was using an ageing Honda Civic platform. A friend of mine in 2003 was looking to get a new car and test drove a MG ZR. He ended up with a Honda Civic mainly down to the fact it cost the same as the ZR but was superior in every way. It came as no surprise why Rover finally went under in 2005.
