Jeez, I know it´s a change from HoD, but giving Holy Lighting the actual Holy attribute has made it broken AF. Not that I´m complaining!

I ported this mod's Julius Mode stuff into the Japanese version so I could play it with the cut Japanese voices. Feels amazing lol Would be cool if the Japanese version eventually gets some more disassembly attention so that the rest of this mod can be reasonably backported.

The best way to experience these types of things is on a modded 2ds with twilight menu++

@@lenick6996 I used DVEdit to find it since I wasn't familiar with any other Dawn of Sorrow hacks lol. It's in the room to the left of the Abaddon fight in the Abyss. Go to the bottom (where the mud demon is) and use the succubus glitch on the left wall.

Hey guys, so if playing DOS for first time, is the definitive+ okay to play without any issues like not knowing something like a weapon location because I hadn’t played the original/vanilla game? But there’s this hidden room you’re talking about

My only gripe with the Ayami Kojima styled portraits is that Soma looks too grayish, he's a pale dude but come on he's not a zombie lmao, but i'm glad that's optional, DoS portraits never bothered me because the DS' low resolution makes them look more "detailed" than the official artwork, aside from that Julius HoD running animation is a godsend.

Glad that it also got rid of the generic art.

This definitive DOS looks promising. Though the only thing I wish it remained was Yoko's old anime portrait. Her new gothic portrait kinda bothers me.

First time hearing of this project. Loving all of those various Julius Mode changes, particularly the Harmony of Despair run animation and the glowing, holy Vampire Killer. Although I've never liked the game's character art I think the Aria art just does not work well as a replacement, at least in the state it's in (it looks super low-res). The replacement art for the new characters like Celia and co. look pretty off too. Glad those are optional... I wonder if it would be feasible to eventually implement the cut Japanese voice clips into the English version?

Re-implementing the disabled voice clips from the Japanese version IS possible, but it would take like a hundred hours of ASM coding without Dawn of Sorrow's source code, unfortunately I can't do neither as I don't know to code ASM or have the original source code

@@Masked_Dedede_ Yeah, I tried to see what I could do and I couldn't figure it out. No big deal lol- I own a copy of the Japanese version anyways. Anyways, I tried this patch out myself and I loved it so much that I dusted off my old OG 3DS (upgraded to a New 3DS years ago) so I could get custom firmware and play this on original hardware. Honestly it's a dream come true to be playing Julius Mode in Dawn of Sorrow with these changes. It's like how it was always meant to be. For my tastes though I will say I reverted some of the Alucard animations. The bobbing in his updated run animation was kinda driving me mad as somebody so used to Symphony of the Night lol. That aside I love the changes from the original game. Great job!

I can make it harder by making his attacks come out faster or giving him more ATK and DEF, but that's not a thing I'm planning to do for this hack

Hey dude, I'm super curious how you setup Julius' new palette settings for the whip retract animation. I thought I could pull off something similar by piggybacking off of Alucard's (apparently?) unused palette indexes and forcing them to stick through a hex editor but it's only resulted in completely black Julius sprites in-game (even though things look fine in DSVedit). Judging by the palette pointer it looks like you may have implemented your own custom palette? Frankly I have no clue how to do anything with palettes aside from modifying/replacing existing ones- I imagine I have a fundamental misunderstanding of how these work lol. I'm also pretty lost on how to swap palette indexes for things like the subweapon icons in the common files. Been trying to implement the whip retract properly in the Japanese version and luckily it doesn't look that much different with the default Julius palette (it looks white and the speed of the animation further helps mask the flaw). No big deal if I can't figure this out, but I would appreciate some tips if it's not too inconvenient. Either way thanks for the new update! I'm particularly happy that the Chaos Ring has finally been un-nerfed lol.

To add a new palette pointer, you have to keep in mind that the palette list has a 4 byte header, the 3rd byte in that header is the number of palettes in the list, after the header are the palettes themselves, each being 0x20 bytes long, so make sure you have *(4+(0x20)*N)) bytes free for the whole palette list, N being the number of palettes you want at the end I moved Julius' new palette to /ftc/overlay9_41, offset 0 (RAM address 02308920), I duplicated Julius' and the Vampire Killer's palettes and transferred both there

@@Masked_Dedede_ And with that I've totally finished getting the Julius Mode stuff into the Japanese version. Everything's properly accounted for and I am fully satisfied lol. Knowing the palette format was key as was figuring out how the address converter worked and its utility. Thanks again! While I'm here I'll mention a few small bugs in case you haven't noticed them. The surface of the water by the drawbridge doesn't seem to be playing its animation properly- there are flickering black pixels. The bottom of the level up graphic also seems to get slightly cut-off in-game and needs to be raised a little. Minor stuff, I know lol

You can't find the Vampire Killer as Soma The Alucard Sword is in the Mine of Judgement The boss Soul Canisters are in rooms after their fights

My only issue is Soma portrait is bit too grey otherwise this is looking good.

I... Hate admitting how shallow I am... But the changed portraits (which I recognize might have been from the previous mods) make far more interested in finally playing this. I loved Aria but after trying to get into Portrait and Dawn their art direction and general "10x more anime" vibes took me out of it. This is awesome! I wonder if there is a mod of Portrait that does something similar!

Can i request you share your savefile? i finished the game not long ago with the old Definitive Edition patch and i wanted to try some of thew features without having to finish the game again so soon.

So after I patched it with "Full, New Portraits". The Health/Mana bar is either gone or glitching. Did I do something wrong with the patching?

That's a bug related to DeSmuME's emulation, go to Config -> Emulation Settings -> enable dynamic recompiler and set it to 15 to see it if that fixes it

Yes, but I'd have to cut important features like automatic Magic Seals, fixed Luck stat, and breaking the ice blocks with melee attacks, since there aren't patches for these for JP-DoS

Heya. First off, sorry if I'm being That Guy(TM) about this, not sure how else to say this. In the readme, you put Thirteen 1355 as the only creator of the original Definitive Edition hack. While he did, indeed, upload the patch and add the Boss Soul, Black Panther relocation, and Alucard Sword patches to it(good on you for throwing that in there, Thirteen, on the off chance you see this), the original creator was an anonymous user from /v/. If it's no trouble, may I ask that you credit Anonymous as well in the readme? I admit it's a very pointless change and Thirteen's additions definitely made it an even MORE definitive, well, Definitive Edition, but I figured I should ask.

Help. How could I get the rpg and the other special weapons? I finished the adventure but I don't know how to get them 😅

@@Eric_zero Hi, I like drastic too, but now im on pc and im new with DS emulation in this device. And i was using desmume but had some serious performance issues. (The configuration wasn't so diverse) Until i found the melonds emulator wich is so superior in performance/configuration, plus is F R E E. If you ever want to emulate ds on pc here is my recomendation ;D

I started a fresh save today and found that Arikado just wouldn't throw Soma a knife during the intro. He goes to toss it at you but nothing appears, causing the game to hang. Since you can just skip the scene it doesn't really matter, but I'd like to know if this is happening on your end too.

baixa o arquivo patch na descrição do video,depois baixa o unipatcher na playstore,descompacta o arquivo que baixo na descrição(se estiver compactado),depois vc baixa a rom do jogo na internet(recomendo o site CD romance),depois abri o app e coloca o arquivo patch onde ta escrito remendo e o arquivo do jogo onde ta escrito rom e depois colocar um nome novo (se quiser) e aperta o botão vermelho

Well, if you don't have the original anime style portraits then that means you've applied one of the new portrait patches, you can tell if it's patched by changes like the map tile colors or some special effects like explosions

I think Ecclesia is the pinnacle of the series, deserves but it needs a better save animation. The one in the game is such a dud that I wonder if it was a placeholder and they forgot about it.
