@@cameronroy2129 The character didn't commit the genocide. He didn't even condone it. He opposed it and was ignored. The TFA novelization makes that even clearer. Fiction is full of many characters, archetypal prodigal sons who did far worse, then following a redemption arc, got a seat at the good guy table... and they didn't have to die to do it. In the Biblical prodigal son story, he didn't reconcile with his father and then die. The only life he gave up was his life on a pig farm. We don't even know if he devoted the rest of his life to trying to make up for his sins. His welcome back was unconditional. The message of these stories is not that you can blow up inhabited planets and get away with it. The point is to tell wayward children and remind adults struggling with their demons, "If so-and-so did this very bad thing and deserved to die, but got a second chance, joined the good guys, and then went on to live and continue doing good, then there's hope for me, too. I don't have to die to do the world a favor."

Eh. I mean that trope is used a lot. It kinda relates to the very first novel that pulled this off. Ya know, "Pride and Prejudice". Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy were two opposing characters that, over the course of MULTIPLE CHAPTERS THAT GAVE EACH IF THEM ROOM TO DEVELOP INTO THEIR OWN CHARACTERS THAT CHOOSE TO BE TOGETHER [NOT FORCED BY PLOT], became a couple at the end. This trope was one passed down the generations, with their own remixes for each generation. Hell, I'm kinda someone who rather enjoys this trope. The problem is that some people can't be bother with doing character development, especially if they are rather impatient. I think their should be a name for this disorder. A disorder that dilutes reality in favour of a toxic ship. Hmm..."PnPD" [Pride and Prejudice Disorder] This disorder is caused by someone's obsession with having a ship be canon, instead of enjoying the media for what it is. But who am I to say. I mean... The "enemies to lovers" trope is my favorite trope (since I've always had a soft spot for cliches lol)... But Reylo is just... Too much for me personally. The fans don't make it better either. Popular ships in general are the worst, mainly because most of the time the two characters aren't even a good match at least in my opinion.

TBH I thought it would have been a neat subversion of the classic Star Wars formula, if well written. But yeah, well-written and the sequel trilogy are two things that definitely do not belong in a sentence together .

Ah yes a ship where they are in a war on opposote sides YET refuse to kill each other while having several chances to do so. Kylo made already clear in the FO that he wants her on his side rather than killing her. When she stabs him out of Palpatines rage she immediatly heals him and cries.

actually i found the reylo scene to be Hilarious because in the movie theater some guy in disbelief shouted “WAIT WHAT” and that just made the terrible scene more bearable

Leon 13 Don’t remind me of those guys. They’re one of the reasons why RWBY has fallen off the wayside for me. I wouldn’t have minded Bumbleby if it wasn’t so poorly conceived in the context of the show. Even with the hand-holding and Fortnite dances in volumes 6 and 7, they still have no chemistry at least not compared to other relationships like Renora. And it’s not like the executives are homophobic since they allowed one of Jaune’s sisters to be married to a woman. If they can show a same-sex married couple, why can’t they show Blake and Yang (two main characters) being together-together? Unless the whole thing was a last minuet decision by the writers.

That describes the first and third movie. All rehashes and callbacks with no understanding of what gives them nostalgic significance. along with Abrams' damnable mystery boxes. The second did callbacks properly, resolved a lot of the mystery boxes created in the first, and tried to move the saga forward.

@@duchessofmelon9967 Kylo was a villain in Force Awakens but starting with The Last Jedi they started portraying him as a poor victim to please his fangirls even writing retcons into the Disney EU saying a Force Storm destroyed Luke's temple when it was actually Kylo, some bullshit about how when he was a kid a faulty droid tried to kill him and Snoke supposedly manipulating him while he was still in Leia's womb. Kylo was a whiny tantrum throwing manchild who Luke Skywalker was portrayed out of character to accommodate the backstory of. He destroyed his uncle's temple and killed some of the Padawans, joined a terrorist group where he killed loads of people, even collecting some of their ashes as sick trophies, killed his father, tried to kill his mother, kidnapped Rey and invaded her mind with The Force then later tried to kill her, only saved her from Snoke to try to get her to join him even basically saying "No one cares about you but me" to get her to go along then tried to kill her again when she still said no. Yet the Reylos would have you believe he's a poor ickle baby who was "cruelly neglected" by Han and Leia, that seeing Luke pointing his lightsaber at him somehow forced Kylo to join The First Order when it didn't, they're convinced Kylo and Rey's attempts to kill each other are somehow sexual tension and that Kylo was an innocent pawn being used and manipulated by Snoke when really he willingly went along with what Snoke said until Snoke committed the despicable crime of......calling his mask stupid and telling him to take it off and saying he was a child in a mask which was Snoke's "Stop crying you little bitch" moment. But Reylos are too busy rubbing their vaginas to thoughts of Adam Driver to see how stupid their defences of Kylo are.

Thing is though, if you listen to that reylo song that was played, you’ll realize it’s just a big meme with a great beat. You guys should listen to it.

The thing about the kiss was that it wasn’t romantic. In the books it’s described as a “kiss of gratitude” and that Rey wouldn’t mourn Kylo. Reylos really said 🧑‍🦯

I doubt these Reylo shippers are even fans who care about anything before the sequel triology

I'm going to take a chance and admit that I'm a Reylo. Star Wars also captured my imagination in 1977, and it hasn't let go. 43 years, Celebrations, 501st and Rebel Legion events, meeting cast members, filling shelves with books and action figures, arranging the Throne Room theme for pipe organ to be played at my wedding, watching my husband and several of my friends in the 2007 Rose Parade, reading Jung, Campbell, Murdoch, John Carter of Mars, and the Lensmen series, watching Flash Gordon and Kurosawa movies in addition to Star Wars, a little involvement in a few fanfilms, one of which got an award, and I still love all but one installment in the Star Wars saga, including the Ewok movies and, well... the Boba Fett cartoon in the Holiday Special... But since I'm a Reylo shipper, I guess I'm not a fan who cares about anything before the sequel trilogy.
