Cads, you forgot to mention that getting all those new souls in the remake unlocks the original Medievil. So this technically IS the definitive version because it also allows you to play the original game, completely unaltered, in its entirety on top of the new one.

Yep SPOILER You unlock the original game in the main menu and I love it. I play the german version and even there, the original ( as well as the remake) has the og german dub. The original cheats work too. My Nostalgia was overflowing.

This game has a weird nostalgia feeling for me, kinda in the same vain as Spyro. Neither my sister nor I owned the PS1 but I knew someone who did, and sometimes when I went over we would play it and it would be this one or Spyro. Heck, there was a good chunk of years where I thought the game was called Dead Man.

They added the entire old game of medievil in the remake when you 100%

Something that I noticed is that they actually changed how a few bosses worked. The Pumpkin Serpent has stages, You only have one cannon in the Ghost Ship boss fight but you can aim it instead of the captain just wandering around in front of two cannons and Zarok's fight is riddled with changes that made fighting him, Kardoc and his army all the more enjoyable Edit: And after collecting all the lost souls and helping them, you get to play the 1998 version from the main menu! That's pretty cool.

I noticed that too! I am hoping the skeleton war is more fun. As much as I love the original, and as many times as I played it, that fight was annoying even if I had every single soldier boost I could get.

That's it! I'm getting this! It may not be as *D E M E N T E D* as the original, but there's little more I like in a remake than the ability to play the original.

The gold armor looks like a reference to the second game, where it's an upgrade, and the second weapon equip was in the second game too. I hope they remake that one too.

Christian Klan it’s got quite a lot of problems. in medievil 2, the health springs don’t replenish, even if you are replaying the level. So if you are at the end of the game, have low health and have used every health spring, the game is unbeatable unless you use a cheat code. Also the boxing level is incredibly frustrating, it’s even worse than the boxing level from Spyro 3. Also my copy of the game had a glitch where it would only play the music from the first level, so I was stuck listening to the same music throughout the entire game.

Caddy’s critique on the art style change actually got me to do some research, and by the looks of things, the game was always supposed to be more rounded and bouncy. It’s just that the PS1 had its limitations. Keep in mind, I only *think* this is the case, as all I did was look at some of the original concept art, but if I’m correct, then that means that the PS4 version is the better one as it’s more accurate to the initial concepts. The more you know.

So, when are u going to cover MediEvil 2 and MediEvil Resurrection?

It’s funny how the last time we saw Sir Daniel, he was stupidly trying to punch Big Daddy of Bioshock with a crappy moveset. And then Sony was like, “no we can’t disrespect him like this and then leave him hanging” Thank you Sony for not letting your character die...again 😅5:03

Caddicarus, my son. Just a quick one - I'm a fellow brit currently living in Japan. I discovered your channel via Game Grumps, then onto The Completionist, then here. My wife had some troubles recently and has been in hospital for 5 days with something now fixed thank god but at the time something quite serious. I visit her in the day after work, and in the evenings and when I sleep I've got your videos playing in the background non-stop. They relax me, make me laugh to a stupid degree and I just wanted to say thank you for providing a weird kind of support to me you probably arent even aware you provide some people. The apple hat Easter egg is about an apple that belonged to one of the devs that was swiped by another given a face and then a hat by another developer, lasting nine months before it rotted and became a joke at the office

The composers are fantastic guys, Andrew + Paul. They did the soundtrack for the original and the remastered. I've spoken with them, really nice guys. Talented too.

Awesome video as always Caddy! I 100% get your few criticisms you had with it as I have experienced them too, I do wish they kept the Tim Burton esque style from the previous game and also wish they kept the Ant caves pitch black but other than those things they were spot on with everything else and because of such the remake is going down as my favorite game of 2019. As you can tell by my profile pic and name (which to those in the distant future after I may have changed it is a pic of Dan's skull and my profile name is SirDanFan) I preordered the digital deluxe version of the game with my brother and after I played it with him I am happto say I am in love with this game along with all the bonuses you get with the DD edition!

Honestly, I'm curious myself! The only Criticisms I've heard aimed at Resurrection are that the Art Style is a watered-down compared to the Original, and the Hit Detection is bad. But on the other hand, I've only ever Read these complaints on GameFAQs, which is the same place I saw people Bashing on Ape Escape On The Loose for PSP, and I LOVE That Version! (It's a 3D Collectathon Platformer that Controls like a Zelda Game!! What's not to Love?!?!) But yeah, I'm still contemplating on picking up Resurrection, cause the PSP is, No Joke, my FAVORITE CONSOLE!! And I wanna get all the Best Games for it!
