The Te Deum (from its incipit, Te deum laudamus "Thee, O God, we praise") is a Latin Christian hymn composed in the 4th century. It is one of the core hymns of the Ambrosian hymnal, which spread throughout the Latin Church with the Milanese Rite in the 6th to 8th centuries, and is sometimes known as "the Ambrosian Hymn".
The term Te Deum can also refer to a short religious service, held to bless an event or give thanks, which is based upon the hymn.
It is here performed by The Cistercian Monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz.

Finally I got the lyrics! I come from a small Christian community in India called East Indians, our elders have been chanting this song during special occassion since decades. Our parents know a bit of it but the tradition is slowly fading away. Thank you for posting it❤️🙏🇮🇳

Just replace the drug with religion, the addicted parent with a devout believer and the story is NOT much different. Are we supposed to allow/tolerate/respect that which is demonstrably harmful and based on false ideologies? They most likely arranged the chant but its for unaccompanied voice, and no sheet music exists of this recording, perhaps improvised the piano on the spot or some rough chord ideas, but nothing concrete.

The Son and The Father are One. Patrem means Holy Father so in the first line in this song, it is saying the immense majesty of God as The Father 0:17, 3:45 and then later on 2:51 it says eternal glory to God (Christe) so The Son.

Yep. When the piano comes in (with chords no less) suddenly it's a Benjamin Britten piece. The singers no longer microtonally match each other, now they fall into the goosestep of the equal tempered piano. The misstep.

Intercessory prayer has been studied and has NO more effect than random chance... I could pray to a rooster and get the same results... the ONLY thing prayer does is allow the one praying to feel like they are somehow contributing/helping... also it acts as mediation or mindfulness techniques... but otherwise... you could be reading a grocery list for the effect it has on the external world...
How the beautiful language of Latin died is a mystery when we basically know the entire language...

Latin is indeed beautiful, but it's not like it just died out. It evolved into a bunch of different languages like italian, spanish and french. It's also still used by clergy and also quite a lot in science.
