OLD FASHIONED MULLEIN TINCTURE! Plus I babble and tell you what it helps 😂

Hey y'all! Thought I'd share how I'm gonna use that Mullein we found in my Appalachian Easter video! Thank you all for your support and I hope you enjoy!

But until then, strain with a cheese cloth. Put tincture in amber dropper bottles . 1.5mL every 8 hours. 😊

    You can use a metal lid, but you want to put wax paper between the jar and the lid. This is what you do to make your own vanilla as well. Tighten the lid down extra tight. Mullein is also cowboy toilet paper. You can wrap an open wound in amullein leaf and tie it with something. It will soak up blood and will help to promote clotting. Vanilla is a 12-15 month wait time.

    Yes! Please show more natural medicinal remedies. I have asthma and get bronchitis so easy. Been taking mullein for years whenever I get a little tickle in my lungs and it works! Just found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching. Would love to see how to make elderberry syrup, too. Thanks for sharing!!!

    I absolutely LOVE this!! I love natural!! If it worked for our ancestors then it will work for us!!     Love this kind of video.. Plants are so healing. My Mama and I used to dry herbs and make our own herbal teas.. I have a yard full of wild sweet violet, and I think I will harvest some for drying for tea, also right now I have a back yard full of danelions which is also healing. I just love natural things.     Thank you. For some reason I have always thought that making a tincture is a really hard or complicated thing. I would love to see more videos like this. I'm going to find some mullein now. I know we have it growing here. And I'll have to find some vodka. We don't drink either so I have always just gotten any kind for making extracts, etc. Thanks again!

    I just made dandelion salve for the first time, this year. It doesn’t help my Dad’s advanced arthritis (sadly, because I made it for him) but it has been helping me.

    I personally like stuff like this. I make a cough syrup from whiskey, peppermint and honey and I have also done a remedy for (hemroids) ssshhh with lard and turpentine. If you’d like those recipes let me know. I am wanting to start a channel similar to yours but I haven’t gotten up the nerve yet. 😂

    I have some Mullein growing around the edge of my property. I always let it grow because I thought it was pretty but never knew its name or what I could use it for. Wish I’d known about it 3 months ago, because we’re all down with awful colds & coughs right now. I love to use old fashioned remedies, I think sometimes they work better than the store bought stuff.     I would love to see your sister make elderberry syrup. I use plantain and make plantain oil which is used for cuts and scraps and bug bites. I do the exact same thing that you did except I dry the leaves first, then add them to a jar and cover with extra virgin olive oil and let it sit for at least 30 days. The plantain (the plant, not the banana; and not the leaves of the banana plant either; totally different plant) relieves pain almost immediately. Have you ever heard of this one?

    We moved from South Carolina to Florissant,Colorado. Mullein is all around our country home on our property. Making tincture with leaves and flower in vodka. What ways can you take this for lung issues. I am also drying leaves for tea. Just found you today. Lots of other plants around that may be good for teas. I’m new at all of this. I’m 8,600 ft altitude and had hard time with my asthma. I found a Mullein capsule that helped. Enjoyed your channel.

    Miss Southern, I use this all the time. You can use apple cider vinegar and honey OR vodka and honey for this recipe I love it and have used it for years I have the same book as you and many others. Thank you so much for sharing it is key to good health. At 69 I use a lot of herbs the only way to go for so many things.

    if you stack and then roll the leaves, (like a cigar-I don't smoke) then slice them then turn them and cut the other way you can get the leaves quite small

    Never heard of Mullen! Very interesting video. I've done elderberry syrup in the IP using dried berries. The smell, OMG, it smelled like a locker room. Not good. The syrup was great but I really was not ready for that smell.

    People need to learn to use holistic/herbal medicine just in case we have no medicines whether over the counter or not because from what I’m reading this is going to happen sometime this year where shortages and unavailability is going to be our future..I make many of our medicines, salves, tinctures, rubs and body products ..I grow , forage, and purchase what I can’t grow in my climate..btw~I love mullein tincture!

    I use both. Mullien is for respiratory because it is an expectorant. Elderberry is antiviral so it helps to kick viral infections.

    No tea is made different. Dried out leaves and put in a tea bag or a tea diffuser and steep. This I will strain and put into amber dropper bottles. 1.5mL every 8 hours.

    So once it's been 3 mths and the tincture is ready how much do u take ? And only use the syrup? Do u throw away the leaves once it's ready? Do u leave the leaves Inside? So many more questions lol

    I’m bad at keeping up with things 😂 I forgot to record me finishing it. So what you do, get a coffee filter, strain it and wring out all the good medicine From those leaves. Toss them. And store your tincture in a dark place or amber dropper bottles.

    Last year, I spent lots of money buying vodka and making tinctures for the first time. I ended up pouring them all out, because they all reeked of vodka. How do you get rid of the alcohol smell?!

    Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a way to do that. Whatever the alcohol smells like before you make your tincture, that’s probably the same alcohol smell the finished tincture will give off. So maybe ask the clerk for a low smell 80 proof alcohol.

    U could make an oxymel-they are yummy! Honey, vinegar and herb/herbs. Lasts about 1 year . U can find recipes online- hundreds of them. Good Luck ❣

    For as long as it takes to finish it off! It’s made with alcohol so she’s safe to sit as long as it’s in a dark place.

    Mullein grows wild, although I have seen where you can buy seeds online. Unless you are in a city, you probably have some growing near you. It is the easiest plant to identify - imo.

    I know it’s a perennial and can be chewed to relieve toothache. I’ve never used it medicinally but I have it because it’s pretty and might come in handy one day. It looks like Queen Anne’s Lace, which can be toxic to humans.
