I think it is good to use what God has provided over pharmaceutical choices. I always try to find a natural fix first. I thank you for showing us.
You can use a metal lid, but you want to put wax paper between the jar and the lid. This is what you do to make your own vanilla as well. Tighten the lid down extra tight. Mullein is also cowboy toilet paper. You can wrap an open wound in amullein leaf and tie it with something. It will soak up blood and will help to promote clotting. Vanilla is a 12-15 month wait time.
Love seeing the younger generations getting into natural , free and loving
I love it! God put all the medicine we needed on the planet. Of the medications we take are derived from the natural versions of the plant.
I grew up with my mama making tinctures and home remedies. Keep doing these beautiful things for your family!
I found out I was allergic to doctors a long time ago 😉. Great video!

Yes! Please show more natural medicinal remedies. I have asthma and get bronchitis so easy. Been taking mullein for years whenever I get a little tickle in my lungs and it works! Just found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching. Would love to see how to make elderberry syrup, too. Thanks for sharing!!!
I cant believe I just now am finding this video Brooke!! Thanks for posting this!!💖 I love your channel!!💖💖
Natures way is the best way they were put here on earth for more than one purpose just like us. Good job and thanks for sharing I’ll gladly take more of these. God‘s blessing
You have made my day. My Mum use to talk about Mullein. She said she ate it once a food health.
I think a lot of commercial medications have a botanical base so I appreciate you sharing this…
Loved this video! More please! Also can’t wait to see some canning techniques of veggies and meat. So glad I found your channel!! ❤️
I absolutely LOVE this!! I love natural!! If it worked for our ancestors then it will work for us!! Its things like this that could help us if the world was to ever end and we became a "post-apocalyptic" world!! Think about it,that stuff basically works for everything so it's pretty cool to know what it is and what it does so Thank You Brooke your awesome 💗💜💗💜
Love this kind of video.. Plants are so healing. My Mama and I used to dry herbs and make our own herbal teas.. I have a yard full of wild sweet violet, and I think I will harvest some for drying for tea, also right now I have a back yard full of danelions which is also healing. I just love natural things. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, for posting !
Spunky and fun Video 👍
Thanks for sharing 😊
Yes please more videos like this 😁
I never heard of mullein. Sounds like a med everyone needs in their home. Blessings!!
Thank you. For some reason I have always thought that making a tincture is a really hard or complicated thing. I would love to see more videos like this. I'm going to find some mullein now. I know we have it growing here. And I'll have to find some vodka. We don't drink either so I have always just gotten any kind for making extracts, etc. Thanks again!
Thank You Ma'am. Excellent. God bless
I just made dandelion salve for the first time, this year. It doesn’t help my Dad’s advanced arthritis (sadly, because I made it for him) but it has been helping me.
I personally like stuff like this. I make a cough syrup from whiskey, peppermint and honey and I have also done a remedy for (hemroids) ssshhh with lard and turpentine. If you’d like those recipes let me know. I am wanting to start a channel similar to yours but I haven’t gotten up the nerve yet. 😂
Absolutely loved this. Thank you!! More, more please 🥰
Thanks! You are always a bright spot in my day.
Love your channel already and yes please make more of these videos. I'm glad you were suggested.
This is very informative, thank you for sharing ❤ hope you and family are enjoying vacation
Don't know how I stumbled upon this channel but I'm sure glad I did! Will check out more of your videos!
Love the stuff for my intermittent asthma!
I'm glad i seen your channel! I already subscribed! I love the home-made teas, remedies. Im not a Tylenol fan lol 😂. Thank you for sharing.

I have some Mullein growing around the edge of my property. I always let it grow because I thought it was pretty but never knew its name or what I could use it for. Wish I’d known about it 3 months ago, because we’re all down with awful colds & coughs right now. I love to use old fashioned remedies, I think sometimes they work better than the store bought stuff. I also downloaded Fetch using your code. Thank you for sharing, it’s working well so far!
I LOVE your shirt!! Golden Girls fan here 💛
Love this❤

My mom and I both take it in capsule form. Works really well too. 😌 Since living in the lovely south I've had sinus issues.
I have an elderberry in my yard. Please show us lol
Interesting! I hope you teach us some other things too! 😊🐝🌼
Great content! I'd love to see a few other home remedies!
Very helpful information, thanks for showing this 🤗😷💚🥫💧
I make sure that the bottle the vodka comes in is a glass bottle for purity's sake.
I would love to see your sister make elderberry syrup. I use plantain and make plantain oil which is used for cuts and scraps and bug bites. I do the exact same thing that you did except I dry the leaves first, then add them to a jar and cover with extra virgin olive oil and let it sit for at least 30 days. The plantain (the plant, not the banana; and not the leaves of the banana plant either; totally different plant) relieves pain almost immediately. Have you ever heard of this one?
Yes i love it make more

We moved from South Carolina to Florissant,Colorado. Mullein is all around our country home on our property. Making tincture with leaves and flower in vodka. What ways can you take this for lung issues. I am also drying leaves for tea. Just found you today. Lots of other plants around that may be good for teas. I’m new at all of this. I’m 8,600 ft altitude and had hard time with my asthma. I found a Mullein capsule that helped. Enjoyed your channel.
Thank you
Miss Southern, I use this all the time. You can use apple cider vinegar and honey OR vodka and honey for this recipe I love it and have used it for years I have the same book as you and many others. Thank you so much for sharing it is key to good health. At 69 I use a lot of herbs the only way to go for so many things.

Oh yes! And The vodka helps it get into the blood stream quicker! You are welcome! 💜
I bought vodka to make vanilla with. No big deal. Don't worry about it.
Old Timer's call Mullen "Rabbit Tobacco"
if you stack and then roll the leaves, (like a cigar-I don't smoke) then slice them then turn them and cut the other way you can get the leaves quite small
Never heard of Mullen! Very interesting video. I've done elderberry syrup in the IP using dried berries. The smell, OMG, it smelled like a locker room. Not good. The syrup was great but I really was not ready for that smell.
cowboy toilet paper!! also u can smoke it or drink it in tea. love mullein.i make hemp tincture for arthritis...just like u do the mullein tincture. its good stuff. i rub it on my joints. works good.
Blessings🙏🙏
I love these kinds of videos! I hope I can find some mullein near me. Any advice on how to find it?
I always use dried herbs in my tinctures….

👍😊 My son has asthma. I've always worried about if he couldn't get an inhaler. Thanks
Elderberry syrup is a good one. I have psoriasis. Any homemade remedy no medical ideas Brooke just for fun.
Show how do Elderberry syrup please!!!
People need to learn to use holistic/herbal medicine just in case we have no medicines whether over the counter or not because from what I’m reading this is going to happen sometime this year where shortages and unavailability is going to be our future..I make many of our medicines, salves, tinctures, rubs and body products ..I grow , forage, and purchase what I can’t grow in my climate..btw~I love mullein tincture!
Please teach us about chocolate sauce biscuits please.

I’ve recruited my mamaw to show everyone how to make chocolate gravy when I get back from vacation. I begged 😂
Would you prefer using the elderberry syrup or mullein if you had the choice? My family is recovering from the flu currently, so I was late on your video! *Great job!!*

Mullein 100% if you have a hard cough
@graftedinforever971
Жыл бұрын
I use both. Mullien is for respiratory because it is an expectorant. Elderberry is antiviral so it helps to kick viral infections.
This is great to know! But, how much do you give? Do you separate leaves from syrup once it cures? Does it need to be refrigerated afterwards? What is the shelf life?

I am going to do a video on the next steps when it’s ready. But drain with a cheese cloth. Put the tincture in amber dropper bottles, 1.5mL every 8 hours.
Great vid. How do you go about using the tincture?
@SouthernFrugalMomma

I’ll make a video showing the next steps when it’s ready, but you strain it in cheese cloth, and I will be putting mine in amber dropper bottles. 1.5mL every 8 hours is what this recipe says
It’s been six months… How did the Mullein tincture turn out?
So 3 months then strain it, then that liquid is what you put a tea spoon of in your tea? I want to try this. we have a bunch growing wild on our back yard fence line. Both first and second year.
@SouthernFrugalMomma

No tea is made different. Dried out leaves and put in a tea bag or a tea diffuser and steep. This I will strain and put into amber dropper bottles. 1.5mL every 8 hours.
Are Mullen flowers the same thing? They are dehydrated
Hi Brooke this is Sue, what exactly is a tinture?, and how much does one take of this?, thanks in advance
What do you do with the leaves when you drain them? And do you drink the vodka?
@kam2162
Жыл бұрын
You discard the leaves. The steeped vodka is your tincture.
Is this the same as what my granny always called Lamb’s Ear?

I’m bad at keeping up with things 😂 I forgot to record me finishing it. So what you do, get a coffee filter, strain it and wring out all the good medicine From those leaves. Toss them. And store your tincture in a dark place or amber dropper bottles.

@@SouthernFrugalMomma me too lol..ok that sounds simple enough..what about amount?! Like how much do u give ur kids when they are sick and for how long or how often?
Last year, I spent lots of money buying vodka and making tinctures for the first time. I ended up pouring them all out, because they all reeked of vodka. How do you get rid of the alcohol smell?!
@SouthernFrugalMomma
2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a way to do that. Whatever the alcohol smells like before you make your tincture, that’s probably the same alcohol smell the finished tincture will give off. So maybe ask the clerk for a low smell 80 proof alcohol.

U could make an oxymel-they are yummy! Honey, vinegar and herb/herbs. Lasts about 1 year . U can find recipes online- hundreds of them. Good Luck ❣

Mullein grows wild, although I have seen where you can buy seeds online. Unless you are in a city, you probably have some growing near you. It is the easiest plant to identify - imo.

I know it’s a perennial and can be chewed to relieve toothache. I’ve never used it medicinally but I have it because it’s pretty and might come in handy one day. It looks like Queen Anne’s Lace, which can be toxic to humans.
