Bout like the home that I grew up in. The original house was built with wood from the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. The original house was two rooms and a summer kitchen connected with a small hallway where the Ice Box was located. In the early 1950's we tore down the summer kitchen and built two more rooms and a closed in porch with access to a basement that we dug after the house was built. It is still standing. About fifteen years ago I rode passed the house and saw that it looked like it is still being cared for.

I grew up in old Michigan farm house that the farm was no longer there and the town grew around it. The house was built sometime in the late 1800s. It originally had a Michigan basement (low ceiling with a dirt floor and a cistern). It was built with a stone block foundation and red brick exterior. The floors were triple 1" thick boards. It originally didn't have a bathroom but an outhouse but added on later. It was remodeled in the 70s with a bunch of wood paneling on the inside and aluminum siding, electrical and plumbing, etc. My parents owned it from 1997 to 2009. The next owners did a remolded by replacing the wood paneling with drywall, combined two upstairs bedrooms into one, replaced the brown aluminum siding with white vinyl siding, did a full roof replacement, fully insulated, replaced the 40 year old furnace, upgraded the electrical and plumbing.

It was interesting to see the different phases in the build life of this home. Earlier on a couple of old doorways/ windows had been boarded over, when the home was added to. It was interesting to see what was once outside, inside! It would have been interesting to see a walk-through, before the demolishion, to see how it once looked. A lot of memories in that old house. I hope the family can make new ones in their new home 🏡 obviously

My own house here in the UK was built in the early 1970s. Unfortunately, materials were in short supply then (Rhodesian copper crisis, fuel crisis etc) and so some parts have been skimped on. The main problem being mortar mix ratios were 'watered down' with the cement ration being quite low. Great when built but 50 years later the weather ate the mortar joints out. I rent so it's not so bad!

That house was probably built in the 1940s. Correction, I was 20 years off.how many chimneys did it have? Seems there were at least two fireplaces and two woodstove chimneys. Wood was the primary source of heat when that house was built.
@justinfufun54832 жыл бұрын
I used to save them and sell them real cheap to people to make vegetable closhes out of. But back then we used to keep the wood to make "olde worlde" Irish cottage or Irish pub furniture out of... and then sell it in container loads to the USA of all places. Haha. Oh and we saved all the bricks and sold them for £ each. And most of them went into pubs too.

Good evening Chris, all I can think of is all the hours they put in that chimney making it. Good job tearing it down

I think I counted 4 chimneys. Was that right?
Great work Chris! Fun watching you pick apart the brick wall to have it fall outwards like a surgeon!
Always enjoy a demo video. Efficient use of the work. Like it was never there.
Another great job, always learning from your jobs. I find myself always thinking what Chris would do when I'm doing a job. How to be more efficient, or NOT get in a spot, so thank you and your uncle for being great teachers.
Great video Chris 👍🏻
Tearing Down The House, is always fun to watch. No blow in and no pink fiberglass. A little bit of paper but no pink scattered to the four corners of the county.
Looks great Chris👍👍👍👍👍
Another fine example of operator skills! Here in western Canada, people use single pane glass to build small greenhouses in the back yard and used red bricks sell for a dollar a piece because they don't make solid (One piece) bricks anymore. I made several brick feature walls out of old red bricks. Cheers and I sure do enjoy your videos so thanks Chris.
Professional at his best....... Thank you for posting. 🙂
It’s nice to see a home demo every so often. Much prefer the pond jobs though.
Nice video, good change of pace, unfortunately at one time probably nice old farm house.time marches on.keep doing what your doing 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Great commentary as usual, addressed all my thoughts about the owner, asbestos, the lack of wiring, and the windows. Super efficient and well thought out work, looks super clean at the end!!

Good afternoon Chris. I look forward to your post every afternoon. Look forward to seeing.what you done today or pass days. Have a good afternoon.
Great video Chris! Love it!
Such a controlled demo, you do a great job, love the videos
I enjoy watching house demos. There's always a story to be told, all the way up to the last bucket load.
These are my favorite videos, great content. 👍
Picking appliances out of the wreckage looks like an XXL version of the Claw Game vending machine.
What a great video I enjoy watching your videos I enjoy watching your videos keep making great videos I like your videos a lot keep making great videos
Here on cape cod all you see is tear downs of old family Cottages and beach houses from the 30s and 50s to put up mini Mansions. I’m Working on one now . One thing I noticed like you said is there wasn’t much insulation in that house. Must cost a lot to heat that old thing !
You are a artist whit this machine. Good work
Our old fire chief always told us "save the chimney boys".
When I work in house demolition. We used Water sprinklers to eliminate the dust and light debris fly around.
great video make it look so easy
Dang this is right near my house I saw you put the bucket thru the roof that morning good old wendell
I feel for the Gentleman. sad when the old family home comes down. Bless his Heart. while he watches. I know it had too hurt.
It looked like the fireplace was the centerpiece of the house. The hearth was quite majestic with the semi circle.

Love it, wrecking stuff !! Stay safe this spring!
This never gets old😀
It's not right that you have this much fun every day!!!
judging by Chris's productive winter, he's got about 8 burn piles waiting for spring rains, some easy work days ahead for you Letsdig18
The 'winds' of change. Memories and photos remain. Sad for some - happening to my childhood home currently, at least some of it is being dismantled and reconstructed over on the east coast - bit like a heart transplant. Nice demo work except for the first chimney.
Chris, that was satisfying, I needed some demolition today! lol
House demolition, always a crowd pleaser..😎
Gosh, initially I thought it’s a shame because it looked quite a neat home. Then when you mentioned water leaks, wood rot, maybe termites, rats nest etc, I thought “smash it down”. I have to admit my bottom lip quivered with a little bit of sadness when the piano got squished 🎹🥺 Good job Chris containing the flying debris as best you could. Take care & cheers 🐨🦘🥰

Your work ethic and dedication are truly admirable.
You could here the wind pick up on the camera microphone nice job chris keeping most of the materials from blowing away 😎👍👍
Great Job Chris 🇺🇲
My uncle did that to my grandparents house. The land was split up and the land the house on was given to me. The house and buildings was torn down because they were like that house and it also knocks down property taxes without the buildings and house. It sucks to see them go.
Atleast there wasn’t any insulation. That makes for fun demo jobs in windy weather
Single pain windows work great for shed & garage windows. Single pain glass is great for a greenhouse.
Thanks for making these videos Chris. I really enjoy them. Regards from the UK.
Demo videos are great!
Fantastic 👍👍👍👍
A mixed blessing for the owner, I'm sure. It's never easy to say goodbye to a place that has so many memories.
Hi from uk chris👋👍hope alls well nice to see some nice days on the demos again bit inbetween jobs the quick ones pay the bills the long ones are all for thrills as I say lol nice clean site again ready for new start (pity that bit wind was in the wrong direction tho 😂 mother nature at her best eh lol👌 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon👍👋
That house was probably built in the 1940s. Correction, I was 20 years off.how many chimneys did it have? Seems there were at least two fireplaces and two woodstove chimneys. Wood was the primary source of heat when that house was built.
Dude, those shutters were still good.
Went down like a bowl of Rice Krispy cereal. SNAP... CRACKLE... POP. ✌💯🤣👍✅
good demo video
That was a nice little demo. Yeah Chris, should have save those windows. They would have made, uh...well, uh...great space taker uppers in one of your barn!
I grew up in a little white farm house that had two front doors. I loved the old place. Built too low and the termites got her, too.
I hate seeing an old home place come down but it has to be pretty cool to bring one down. I would be cool to put a camera in the crawl space to see how it handles all of the pounding from above.
Great as always, but always make sure, its the right house to take out.

I guess the first indication that it's the wrong one is someone running out at the first whack, not to mention all the belongings . . 🙂
I'd tear it down too. But it's still sad to think of all the memories those wall's have seen.
I was going to say save the piano...okay the window glass must be difficult to clean up...nope never mind the sheet music is all over the place!! Good stuff only teasin cause ya mentioned it! Liking the episodes!!
Another fine job
Them little brown termites may have did a number on the floor but that big yellow & black one did in the rest of the house!
And as the last wall falls, Chris says "Oh crap, that was the wrong house"
That looks like a lovely forsythia in the yard. I miss that... In KY we had it all over, In FLA we don't have it.
The trash blew away from the bricks ... 🤣🤣🤣
I love demolition videos. But I wish you could give us a quick tour inside first.
Enjoyed the video.

THe old houses used to have newspapers in the wall for insulation. It was always interesting looking at the dates and headlines.
