This song specifically is a letter to the drummer's brother, who died in 2016 and was the founding guitarist. The video and song contain a lot of symbolism, and the light in the sky is intended to be him I believe, or his soul per se.

Please listen to "Gone with the Wind" from "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us". Beautifully poignant. Written by the lead guitarist/song writer, Tom Searle (like most other tracks), who had terminal cancer and sadly passed away not long after. A lyrical and musical masterpiece. Heart wrenching stuff. This was the first song they released after the main song writer/guitarist Tom Searle died from cancer. The guy meditating is his twin brother Dan who is also the drummer in the band. Memento Mori would be a great song for you to dissect, it's the last song on the final album written by Tom who was very much aware of his own mortality and the inevitability of death. The meaning of the song (and album) has really altered after Tom’s death since none of his fans knew his cancer returned until after he died. Please check it out!!!

A little bit about the VOCALS: Sam Carter is a legendary vocalist. His clean singing is beautiful, but he's definitely known for his screams. In my opinion he has perfected the "fry scream" technique, and does an expert job of mixing that same "fry" sound (compression based-grit) with his true cord phonation (singing). On top of this the production is amazing and the vocal layering of screams/singing is wonderfully done. I've seen Architects multiple times and Sam's near flawless performance always amazes me. I love good lyrics, but the overall of sound of a song is what draws me in at first. Then I'll start paying attention to the different bits, and I go through several phases of loving the same song for different aspects of it. First, I just love the song. Later, I'll love it for the drum work, then it's the intricate guitar bits that keep me coming back, then the vocals, the bass, the lyrics. Hell, it might be something very simple, like a bass slide, or a particular scream, that has me loving it.

This song is a super emotional song in all ways.... one of there guitarists had written this song and he was the key writer from the start of the band... The guitarist (Tom) passed away from cancer and this is the last song he almost finished.... the drummer was (Tom's) twin brother who you saw holding the crystal in the video.... the way that he played the drums and the way Sam (Vocalist) sang the song was very heavy and emotional and you could feel the pain.... Great Videos.... you should check out Currents- Second Skin

I think Weightless by Northlane would show the full talent of Marcus on vocals. Then in terms of the full band, maybe newer stuff like 4D or Freefall.

GEEBZ so so glad that you’ve discovered my favourite band in the world. These lads have been through a lot as their guitarist and main songwriter (as well as the drummers twin brother) passed away. Doomsday was actually their first release as a group after his death. Highly recommend their live, in studio orchestral version of their new song Animals! Also, and these are much more obscure choices but ones that you’ll really really dig - Demi God and Flight Without Feathers. Super cool arranging on both and some very funky chord progressions!

Interesting thing about the video, it takes a lot of visual cues from a movie called The Fountain which is all about accepting the inevitability of death and making your peace with the loss of loved ones; hits hard with the song having been written about the loss of their bandmate Tom Searle.

You mention how the singer has a great emotional range in this song.. you're completely right. And I bet this one came easier to him than most when you learn about the lyrics. I find this song heart breaking.

After asking for Architects for weeks, I’m sooo glad you enjoyed it as much as you did. You’ve got to check out some of the new album that came out last month as it’s moved on even more since this song! Maybe try ‘Goliath’ (which has Biffy Clyro’s singer - if you know them - on it), or ‘Libertine’. #Alriggghhhtttt

Oh no....they gave you the Architects. I gotta see this. They are in my library, on the edge of the heavy shelf. Their hooks really stick in head for awhile, their whole compositions make my mind melt at times trying to make sense of it...like Tool or other prog stuff. For me, It's usually jazz, 70's/ early 80's classic rock or 90's alt rock...Deftones and radiohead (how I found you...and sub'd) keep the vids coming, I look forward to every one of them no matter the material.
