Old Barrel Turned Cutting Board

Ойын-сауық

I mill down oak from old barrels and add in some walnut to build 2 "brick wall" style end grain cutting boards. Both end up being around 16" x 20" and 2" thick.
This is the shorter, much more condensed version of the full length video I did on this build where I explain my process. Check out that video here: y2u.be/8OSRl_h4R4k
Enjoy the show!

If I put out a few stunning chessboards, to give to friends and family I'm satisfied. I only have to position 68 pieces correctly!!! You take lumber to the maximum number of drops to organize!!! Your layout and speed gluing is 2nd to none! Did you notice @12 minutes on in your video, how to us it looks like 3D!! Very nice plan n layout 👌 I've only seen 2 videos so far, can't wait to search your library of videos??

Amazing board as per usual Ryan. I thought Oak was too porous to make a cutting board from? Something about too much of a chance of holding bacteria? Or does the mineral oil, wax finish take care of that?

I have a question. How to you keep the thickness of the staves the same? I saw your butcher block video and went out and got a barrel and as I'm using the jointer I'm having some that are much thinner than other. Thanks for the great content.
