What is retinol used for
Retinol is great for keeping your pores clean and free from blockage and a great way to lighten dark spots and let your fibroblasts produce more collagen.
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol
Now thats the first notable difference I saw, while the Olay one does not use hyaluronic acid, which isnt a tie breaker not to worry, it does have the palimitoyl pentapeptide four complex. The hyaluronic acid is going to hold water in its place and rehydrate the skin. So if your skin is on the drier side, you may consider this one. It works great as a general moisturizer for day and night time use to really give your face that hydration it needs. And because itll work as a humectant, you definitely will start to feel a silky feeling after it has settled in. The Retinol SA in the product, that Neutrogena likes to call, is not for salicylic acid, its actually for sustained action, which means that the effects should continue for 24 hours.
What I find interesting about this product is one thing, it has a glucose complex which will help expedite the effects of the retinol and actually make it more potent, which for some can make all the difference. Another notable difference I saw besides the hyaluronic acid, is that the neutrogena one also gives you vitamin c, that the Olay one doesnt. The vitamin c is going to help diminish those fine lines, brighten the skin, and even out the skin tone.
The olay one although it doesnt have vitamin c, it does have niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin b3, which helps boost your skins natural barrier and increase levels of important skin ceramides. Also would be probably more leaning towards this if your skin is more prone to redness, as the niacinamide can help alleviate redness from allergies, rosacea, and sun exposure. One other thing, you should probably know about the neutrogena one, is that if you look back at the ingredients list, youll find the ingredient, polyethylene, which you dont find in the olay one either. The polyethylene is mildly abrasive, and is actually going to help give exfoliation at the same time, helping you to remove excess skin cells, and smoothen out rough skin. So if your skin is a little drier, a little rougher, needs a little bit more brightening, and like the Sustained action technology, you may start to lean towards the neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair. Because it has the Hyalorunic acid, The Vitamin C, and the Polyethylene. Also, guys if your liking the content, please give it a like down below before we get to the second product.
Olay Regenerist Retinol 24
I do like the feeling of the olay regenerist one more on my skin. It feels smoother and blends in a lot faster. The percentage of retinol in both products isnt really mentioned, so there really isnt a way to say how much of the retinoid we feel in relation to another, you would just have to apply it and see how your skin responds over time. We mentioned earlier, that instead of the hyaloronic acid, the olay regenerist uses a palmitoyl pentapeptide 4 complex, which is basically a complex of 5 amino acids that boost more production of collagen, and while more studies are needed on this, it is said to help your skin make more glycosominoglycans fibronectin, which helps boost the overall dermal structure of the skin. Going further, What I do like about this product is the fact that Olay incorporated titanium dioxide in the ingredients that neutrogena did not.
And although there is not vitamin c in the Olay one, it does contain niacinamide, which overtime, does help prevent premature signs of skin aging that you get over time. So if your looking for a retinol that you can enjoy the benefits of niacinamide, like a lighter and silkier feeling on your skin, and like the pentapeptide 4 technology, you may be leaning towards the olay one. Because it contains, titanium dioxide, niacinamide, and important peptides.

    This is what I do ... morning: wash face, alternate vitamin c every other day ( I built up to it started out every two days) with a vitamin c derivative, very light moisturizer ( I have oily sensitive skin) then sunscreen .... midday: usually just reapply sunscreen ... evening: wash face, alternate retinoid every other day with Matrixyl 3000 started slow with the retinoids too because they are irritating, moisturizer .. I keep really simple ... most days I like to take my makeup off early evening so I wash my face apply a toner then when I go to bed I add the retinoid and moisturizer... hope this helps

    I’ve been using the Neutrogena Retinol for 4 years now and I love the results. I will continue to use it for life. I’m 35yo , have brown asian skin. I apply the cream only at night 3-4 times a week and just use a regular moisturizer on other nights coz my skin burns with regular use. I found that giving it some break helps my skin to adjust especially in the beginning. All the benefits stated in this video are true based on my experience using it. My skin glows , pores are smaller, helps with wrinkles and exfoliating dead skin too.

    I tried Neutrogena as my first retinol and after 5 months, just finished my first jar. I loved the thicker consistency, overall feel and even the smell (though it is fragrance free). My skins texture is notably smoother. I’m now trying Olay 24. It’s a much thinner consistency but I do like the feel of my skin after it’s absorbed. Aesthetically, I like the look of the Neutrogena jar as I think the purple/silver looks tacky. We’ll see the final results after I finish this jar.

    Retinol is best at night. Too many actives at one time can lead to irritation. Glycolic acid should not be used daily. And if you do, it should be at a low strength so it doesn’t lead to irritation. Of course a wash would be low exposure but could still be too much if you have dry or sensitive skin. Irritation/redness can negate any benefits of the actives.

  • @ArsalanAspires

    @ArsalanAspires

    2 жыл бұрын

    Excellent question! I have heard that by alternating you may be able to mitigate the irritation. However chemical burning with multiple actives is a real concern. My recommendation is to give adapalene a steady and consistent chance before adding an alternating routine. This of course depends on how far you are with the therapy. Keep me updated!

    It’s essentially the same ingredient: retinol. Every night may be too irritating unless you work up to using it that often. Consistency is best in skin care. Use one til you use it up. Then the next one if you are trying to figure out which one works best. If you use them both at the same time, you won’t be able to figure out which one irritates or works for you
