OLA LEARNS MEGADETH

OLA LEARNS is back! Since Kiko is out of the band, I figured I would become the next Megadeth guitar player so I decided to learn a song, ANGRY AGAIN.

The first Megadeth song I learned way back in '97. The key to Marty's solos is not fast fretwork but timing because of his abundant use of bends and vibratos. I still can't play it note for note but you managed to learn it in under an hour. Bravo Ola.

Dude, I first got into guitar when I saw "Crossroads" when Vai played Paganini's 5th Caprice (i.e., Eugene's Bag of Tricks) and I would consider learning that my greatest accomplishment. However, I have NEVER been able to nail a Marty solo EVER. Easily top 5 guitarist to have ever walked the planet. You wanna see some crazy Marty shreddin' watch some old Cacophony videos with him and Jason Becker just KILLIN IT in Japan.

Cool exercise to improve your ear: play a scale really slowly, but alternate notes between your voice and the guitar. Then switch your voice to “silent”, hearing the note in your head instead of out loud. Finally, repeat exercise, but playing random notes in the scale instead of in sequence. Start with a pentatonic scale, final boss is the chromatic scale. Go!

I havent watched your videos in a while. I am very glad I came back to watch this one. This is not just very impressive but also very educational for guitar players. To a non guitarsit, this is could be annoying, but for us, it is captivating. This is my new favorite type of content on youtube.

This is a great example of how even a really simple Megadeth song is actually pretty tricky. Dave has a lot of really twisty rhythm guitar parts that can make you end up scratching your head, even when they aren't particularly fast or intricate. He just has a really unique approach to the instrument, especially in the Friedman/Menza era.

That last lick of the solo is beyond sick. Ola nails it! Cheering from my computer 🫡 Great vid, more playing/teaching/showing how to play guitar! I feel like so much of youtube is gear focused these days--what about actually PLAYING the instrument

KIck ass video! This was one of the first songs I tried to learn when I bought my guitar 3 years ago or so. Simple but you cab't help but bob your head the whole time! Also don't tell Glenn Fricker that you love that Gibson! Keep the content coming!
