A lot of people don’t know that Patty is highly religious. Her teams eat, work, play, and yes, even pray together. Her teams go to church together, and their lives revolve around God, family, and softball. It may not be for some, but there are tons of other schools that they can go to, if they don’t fit in with Patty’s philosophy of life. Believing is a powerful tool to have, be it in softball, life, or The Lord.

I like your point, but I always had a small problem with this kind of thinking. Imagine if I had a kid who wants to continue our family legacy of graduating from OU, and they were offered a scholarship to play a spot there. But there is a problem, their Coach is a devout Muslim and the coach recruited players who pray 5 times a day like she does. Unless my kid is a Muslim, it is going to be hard for them to fit in. And hearing that they can go to other schools is just insulting. However, I am reading a book about how religion was invited to keep tribes together and fight harder through tribulation. And I think that Patty worked this out really well by leveraging the unity of the team with God. This is at the expense of Alienating people who have other beliefs like Muslims Hindus and atheist, but having a strong unified team that can face up to adversity is the other side of the coin.

Its awesome when coaches know the importance of praying over their players and setting the example on having a personal relationship with God, some folks think they can separate certain parts of their life from God. Not possible, without Jesus involved in every aspect of a persons life, eventually they will fall.

@@timknepper1041 I’m sorry, but they would have won whether they prayed or not. They got to where they were at through their hard work and their talent and dedication. And not everyone shares the opinion that prayer is important. I used to go to church...and met some of the worst people I’ve ever known while I was there. My life actually got better when I stopped going to church.

@@soonerborn7603 the devil goes to church, he sets beside everyone every service, but you can not allow what you think is bad church folks cause you to loose your focus on why you are in church. And when we involve God in our daily life, we become a success, even when times get rough, God will pull us through it as long as you remain trustworthy in Him. God Bless.

OU is a great softball team and they’re a well-mannered and good natured group of young women. But some of the God talk is a bit much, inasmuch as they are believers on all these teams. God gets the glory from winners and losers.

Bunch of narcissists. Not to mention, the blonde Simpson’s sister and her forcing “God” into an attempted canned response...you’re trying too hard. Smh
