Hard to believe this movie was made over 20 years ago and it still holds up well. Funny enough they thought Hugh Jackman was too good looking to be Wolverine since in the comics Wolverine is pretty short and Jackman is huge but he embodied the gruff swagger that masked a lifetime of pain and loss that is the essence of the character.

I definitely recommend watching other Marvel movies that came out before the MCU started: -Blade (1998) - Fantastic Four (2005) - Tobey Maguire's Spider-man trilogy - Andrew Garfield's Spider-man movies

MCU was already in swing when Andrew Garfield started but yeah

Love the X-Men actually prefer the team to the Avengers as the X-Men are a lot more relatable going through common struggle (More for what the X-Men stand for as Avengers members by themselves have common struggles as well they deal with less common problems) but of course the twist being the Mutant gene which gives them their powers. There's a heavy Civil Rights metaphor within the X-Men which is also extended to the characters themselves, with Professor X and his vision of harmonious human-mutant coexistence standing in for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., while Magneto’s rigid attitude toward the defence of mutant kind reflected the philosophy of Malcolm X. The first X-Men comic came out in 1963 at the height of the Civil Rights movement. X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills from 1982 dives deep into this aspect one of my favourite comic's with a very dark opening. The X-Men in the comic's were active since the 1960s when the American Civil Rights movement was happening in the Marvel universe as well doing a great job at highlighting each decade introducing new members as they go on with the 1980s being one of my favourites decades of X-Men. X-Men this movie came out in a time when Comic's and Superhero movies were still pretty niche at least compared to today so a lot of the more comic artistic was lost in hopes of drawing in the more mainstream audience. Casting is on point for character's like Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto for example but the outfits were very... different instead of each member having their own unique custom outfit the X-Men were all given Black leather. Back in 1999 Kevin Feige who was 26 at the time was promoted to associate producer on the X-Men while in development. Kevin actually pushed for Comic artistic outfits but no one listened to him thinking it would turn off the mainstream audience, Magneto is the closest to his comic counter part in terms of design but yeah unless we see the X-Men in the MCU it's very unlikely that we'll see comic accurate outfits. The Outfits do get better with each movie but they never come close. The X-Men movies push that alot closer to the 2000s while in the comic's Wolverine and Rogue were introduced much earlier like a lot of Earth-616 characters for example Spider-Man was active since the 1960s same decade he was introduced. This is also the same for the Sam Rami Spider-Man films and the MCU bring these characters into the 2000s very much like the Ultimate universe did in 2000 with Ultimate Spider-Man and in 2001 Ultimate X-Men. This universe was a modern reimagine of the main Earth-616 universe updating Marvel characters for a new generation but not replacing the main Earth-616 universe. Also should note that in the Marvel comic's, cartoons and games the X-Men do exist within the same shared universe as The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Midnight Suns, The Runaways, The Defenders etc. Marvel sold the movie rights to Fox in the mid to late 1990s for X-Men and Fantastic four while Sony got the rights to Spider-Man where they created the Sam Rami movies. This made it really difficult for studios to cross characters over for example you couldn't straight up mention Mutants or any X-men character in a Spider-Man film under Sony unless Fox agreed to allow this unlike the comic's were this wasn't a problem. Same reason why it took years for Spider-Man to show up in the MCU until Sony made a deal with Disney. This is also the same reason why the Fantastic Four are only now getting a movie set in the MCU after Disney eat up Fox. There's a theory going around that Fox's X-Men and Fantastic Four are set within the same universe as Sam Rami's Spider-Man. People also believe that Daredevil and Punisher are also set in the same shared universe but who knows they were never to connect them for legal reasons but people did try for example Kevin Fiege, who served as a producer on the first Spider-Man film, tried to get Hugh Jackman to appear in the movie, but couldn't due to not being able to have access to the costume. But yeah even though the continuity of the X-Men films are all over I still hope you enjoy them for what they were. First Class and Days of Future Past are my two favourites with Logan and Deadpool being great spin offs focusing on single characters but overall don't expect the same level of continuity from the MCU the TVA would have a field day with the Fox X-Men universe.

Hugh Jackman, making men doubt their own manliness since this movie came out. Comedy, action, musicals… this guy does it all.

Heck yeah, so it begins, huge fan of the X-Men series overall. And I think myself and everyone else here are waiting for your reaction to Logan. Gonna take a while but it's worth the wait!

Another fun thing to realize is in the comics Rogue actually absorbs Captain Marvel's powers. It's going to be very interesting to see how they implement Rogue into the MCU.

in the original comics rouge makes contact with captain marvel for an extended period and PERMANANTLY steals her powers and leaves her an amnesiac. probably the best thing captain marvel has ever done.

It's going to take an entire brain transplant to make Brie Larsen even remotely likeable as a person or better at playing Captain Marvel. You can't just random select the flavor of the week actor and expect them to be capable of performing in your movie. They didn't choose Danny Devito to play Deadpool. But, he did make a disgustingly great Penguin.

In some versions yes but it does keep changing their severll retcons and reverse retcons on this issue some versions say he lied about being their father but the most populer is that he is their father

Hey, Liala! The X-Men are Marvel Comics superheroes created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963. The film rights were sold to 20th-Century Fox studios in the 1990s. Therefore, no other Marvel characters could appear in them when the MCU came into existence later and nothing mutant-related could exist in the MCU. The X-Men movies proved team superhero movies were viable and are the reason we have an MCU and DCEU. One major problem with the franchise is that there was no plan going in to make a coherent saga so there are MANY CONTINUITY ERRORS! As others mentioned xmen is a marvwl product snd now is back in marvels hands sincebthey brought fox Marvel has allready stated plans to bring xmen into the mcu with some the characters returning with new actors and actresses some wont be any time soon such as wolverine msrvel have said some characters specifying wolverine as one have had alot of spotlight and they want to hold back before they recreate these characters But some of the main roster are to show uo like rogue who is famous for her fight against captain marvel and stealing her powers their is rumours rougue will be a villain in one the fiture mcu films It looks like their doing what they did for avengers introducing xmen characters 1 by 1 Also wanda aka scarlet witch in the comics is actualy a mutant and has alot of interactions with the xmen somtimes as their enemy somtimes as their ally

Comics lore : Rogue [not rouge] battled Ms. Marvel. Carol Danvers was later a patient of Xavier until Rogue came for help with multiple personalities. Carol was captured with the X-Men by the Brood. The Brood identified, activated, and amplified the Kree/human hybrid genetics, which unleashed the Binary abilities. Once Rogue joined the school, Binary joined the Starjammers.
