Prince never said he didn't like being covered, nor did he ever said that he hated covers. What he actually did said, is that he hated covers attempting to copy an original work, and also that he wasn't very happy with the fact that Sinnead stole his song (she didn't even announce it as a cover). In fact, he did tons of covers himself, even at the Half time show and said : "I came from the old school, when you like the record, you play the record." So the whole idea he didn't like covers, is a complete myth and a simplification of what he said!!

Purple rain is not easy to sing, and he did a fantastic job. RIP Prince.

Hearing someone honoring Prince with his song, makes me really miss Prince even more…if that is even possible. Huge huge fan and I thought this gentleman did a fabulous job. We will never have another song sung live by Prince but we can listen to his albums and learn from many of his songs since they sometimes teach us lessons. I was thrilled to see Prince in the 80s when I was young. In Chicago. Purple Rain tour. He played so long and it was unbelievable! His music is a back drop of such happy memories. Love him, miss him. This was beautiful.❤

I’ll never ever forget the first time I heard this song. This guy gets it.

I was one of the lucky ones to get to see Prince in concert. To this day, I will say it was the best concert I have ever seen. He was all over the stage. I am one of his biggest fans. I even dressed up for the occasion. I also had to stand on my chair during the whole concert so I could make sure that I didn’t miss anything. This singer was the best. I was crying and happy at the same time. But this guy nailed it. What a wonderful voice he has. Also, thanks to Reggie. He nailed it to with his music. Thanks for bringing back the memories of an awesome singer. Prince will be missed forever. 💜😘🥰
