As a movie nerd, most of the movie knowledge NL has is indeed from reading about movies and clicking through pages online. You could intently watch everything in the IMDb top 250 but not retain any actors or directors. That being said, he was a pretentious only child in high school. I'm sure he's seen a shitload as well.
