Riot updated Seraphine's bio to scrub some of the unfortunate implications and soften the whole thing a bit. Not a fix, I don't think, but probably the best they could do on short notice. We'll cover it in the WTDW video.

I only recently came back to LoL universe and read all about Seraphine, her lore and marketing that was preparing her release...I'm probably wrong about the intentions, but isn't her whole character (lore included) just a smart way to depict China's actions over the past years? Sugary look on the outside, but hiding a horrible truth within - slavery, pushing out product without looking at the human (emotional) cost, being as fake as Seraphine's social media profiles are, ripping off Sona (brand stealing) and such. Might be reaching, might be a coincidence, but I just think it fits a bit "too well" into the whole image.

I actually only read Seraphines lore today and the way it’s rewritten makes it sound like she also doesn’t know about the real origin of the crystal and just seeing it as “magic”. Which makes it much better I think cuz it definitely keeps the wholesomeness and keeps her in the group of ppl who use hextech without knowing what it really is. Aka Seraphine can hear the voice of the crystal but doesn’t understand the greater implications of the crystal having a voice and that the recrafting of the crystal working to help people more. Aka I think it reads so much better haha but also I didn’t read the OG one so idk haha

I know it's little too late for that, but i think it would make better story if Riot didn't change that much, exept one thing that Seraphine is unaware of her power. Basicly she still is rased in Zaun, he parents work to the bone to keep their family alive. Seraphine want to help but she isn't really strong enough for manual labor and too good to join street gangs or rob people. But she found out her singing voice attracts people. Not to mention make Zaun and Piltover don't bash each other. She made some coin with it, but big change came happen when some Big house came for a visit, with really good offer to finally live a life rather that scrounch for it. After that she becomes Idol (that Riot want her to be), but more she is on stage the more wierd voices in her head. She can't make out what they say or even if they are real. And basicly that's about it. From that you can have plenty of stories to make up. Seraphine learing about bracken, the house that she is under, some stories that let her help out town. Or some twist like, her voice acually can power up hex cristals and that's why she is kept, to increse prestige of the house. Give her moral ambiguity if she should help both towns or dying race. Or something like she would tell the head of the house that will just say "i already know" and this whole time were just working how to extract magic from Seraphine to power up more cristals. And after that her platfrom pet could make Great Escape to find Skarner and bring awerness about the whole thing. JUST by removing "she knows about bracken" give so much potential for story telling and let her grow as character, that it's just beyond me why RIot didn't go this obvious way.

Plot twist, the Crystal is actually the one using Seraphine to boost it's own voice so Skarner can find them faster.

because she very likely was. its not even like Yone, who tecnicaly first apeared as spirit blossom skin in his firt trailer and then HE showed up, champion who at least someone bodered to make a reason to the similarities with his yasuolike gameplay, and at least his swords are not the souls of some poor aracnids. she is just a skin, her kit is a copy paste with only a nice pasive, and because i know this game she will be popular as hell and will have 5 skins before 2022

She is hearing, but she is not listening. She is a villain but she doesn’t know it and a great lesson on corporate greed and exploitation on young talent that can influence the masses. It would be so easy for Riot to edit that into her story that way she can remain cheery but completely unaware that she is a villain.

What's amaze me on this champion is this. She's a "walking" paradox, and a perfect representation of the (mistakes?) of her creation process; and the hypocrisis behind our era. I can't say if this is intentional or not. I can't say if I love or hate her.

Plus it would allow for a possible redemption arc of some kind, so they can still eventually make her the good cheery pop star they wanted her to be after she had a compelling story

@The average teenage girl. المراهقة العادية yes and no. Yes he really wished that to diminish human's weakness through his glorious evolution, but only those who needed it and those who wanted it. But then he realised this wasn't the only solution as you know, Chem Barons and Pilover Elites and Aristocracy weren't 100% yet they were corrupt at core. At the end of his lore it was hinted that Viktor wasn't the true evil of both Pilover and Zaun, but the authorities of both nation. It's ironic how he despise human traits and yet he shows it. I wish they'd continue Jayce and Viktor's lore, also the future of P&Z.

​@@Thomas-sr2oq It was just interesting since the yordles are supposed to be really old too, i would have thought they might be a little more aware or something. but who knows, the lore is constantly getting changed so it might not be something to fuss about down the line. As for gameplay the ppl complaining about about her gameplay, i hope they actually let ppl try her before they do anything to it.

They could make her a villain without her being conscious about it. Like how with just nunu's lore you think is a wholesome kid looking for his mom.. and then you read lissandra's and realized that no; the mother is dead, and nunu was kidnapped by his mom's assassins. And it would tie nicely with how technology is usually obtained with labour exploitation and blood, but a lot of people don't know/ don't want to know about it.

The short version is that nunu is an iceborn (that's why he can use his flute, repaired with true ice) and Lissandra recruits iceborns; killing their families in the process if needed. He used to lived in the frozen citadel under lissandra's watch, unaware that she killed his mom. (Edit: Comment below corrected some stuff!)

Well at least Nunu is lowkey aware that the Frosguard are... kinda sus. And now has a big fluffy protector to keep him from harm. He also doesn't live in the citadel anymore since meeting Willump. His flute isn't really magical, it is just the object Nunu projects the magic that he was gifted by Willump on. Nunu does the magic, the flute is his legendary sword (obviously).

13:00 Uh yeah about those "synthetic crystals" Skyen? Those likely still have souls in them, just not Brackern souls. It's pretty heavily implied that many of the people who "go missing in Zaun wind up being raw materials for them. Also they produce a pollutant called the "Grey" that has properties suspiciously similar to the Black Mist. Also related to the souls of the dead. Just sayin'.

Her being an oblivious "bad person" in your 1st point is actually genius. I would be so ecstatic if Riot ever commissions you do something for them, its like you know their vision better than them sometimes. Or at least, better than the people making the final decisions, cuz as you've said, there's so much people at Riot who want to do things that just don't happen.

...but as Skyen himself pointed out, his habit of criticizing the people at the top and reserving his praise for specifically the people who put in the work make that unlikely.

How to help fix seraphine: 1) change her lore, with a lot of what skyen said, the "hidden bad guy" can work pretty well 2) at least have her, outside of kda, interact with sona (literally has a line mentioning taking her equipment) I'm sure there's more, but these what came to mind first

What they're going to do instead is change Skarner's lore to make Seraphine look better; Skarner will agree to a charity concert duet to promote humane usage of hextech. Camille and Urgot will fund it, and there will be a surprise reunion of Singed and Warwick where they reconcile their differences, meeting in the middle. Oh and its also a peace conference to settle the planned invasion of Piltover by Noxus, and Jarvan's going to be there too, where he frees the mages because he hears Sylas' song. Sona's not invited though.

Camille literally killing criminals in her comic and Urgot literally has the worst ending possible . Now put this 15 years old singing in the middle of the streets with those powerfull and expensive crystals. Fits so well with everything in the lore

An unconscious villain would be perfect with her! She’d be that “we can do it together “ type of musician while in the background still being part of the issue. It’d be interesting to see that her line towards awakened is less of one with malintent and more like “Hey I think I know the song that your people sang! It’s just a feeling in my heart but let’s sing it together and keep their spirit alive!” All while not realizing hat she does, indeed, have their spirit in her hand.

As someone that really enjoy Skarner and is one of the 10 people that play him, I think it would be disrespectful rewrite his lore to fit another character that have no real reason to be attached to him in the first place. Yeah, Skarner needs a rework, he is a very unpopular champion and yada yada, but his core and his lore isn't bad at all, changing it just to make Seraphine not be a "bad person" is very mean and disrespectful...

Knowing know that the skarner rework is in the making, I really hope that they don't simply do away with his current lore. With some of the early concept art they showed, I really hope they do like, a hextech construct that went loose stealing other pure hextech crystals because the brackern inside his awakened or something like that, or maybe they use some of the ones with wings or something, but he stills does something for the hextech/brackern storyline and that maybe that bleeds out into improving Sera's lore maybe

I actually really like the first idea.. its so poetic, she makes people listen to their heart and all but actually its a lesson she has to learn herself yet

> Seraphine gets the Crystal > Finds out the horrible truth about them > Notices Piltower elites spying upon her ▒▒▒ Moral conflict truth/her own safety▒▒▒ > Decides to act → Camille tries to assasinate her > Jhin saves her (Awaken cinematic) or Jinx idk > realises that her saviors are kinda crazy, trying to destroy piltover instead of brining piltover and zaun together > things around her get more and more crazy (with caitlyn, vi, jayce, urgot, warwick, victor getting involed) ▒▒▒ Piltover Elites want to see her dead / Zhaun want to use the truth Seraphine found out for starting a revolution ▒▒▒ > Seraphine realises that more and more violence is committed because of her, altough she wanted peace and friendship > She flees the city, heartbroken. Destination: Shurima, where she will meet up with Scarner Story fixed.

The lore handwaving of the crystal being “okay” with this reminds me far too much of 1800s excuses for why slavery is cool and okay and good

Personally, I like the first idea where she is a naïve idealist who doesn't fully understand what she's doing and how she's exploiting the Bracken the best. It its a degree of irony where she's trying to unite Piltover and Zaun and stand up for those in need but is unwittingly opposing others at the same time. I feel like that's an interesting story to tell. Your third idea where she is a protest singer is still really good and just as compelling so I wouldn't mind it and it seems like the most likely to be the one Riot would pick should they pick any of these.

So having a champion that KNOWS THAT THEY ARE USING SOULS yet has her do nothing about it while having her preach that "Everyone matters" is just not cohesive at all... Like I dont even care if shes a copy of champions or if Riot wants to milk 30 dollars out of her like its A ok, its not my money but... the lore of League is super important for me as its the reason I even started playing league. You cant really convince people that Seraphine is a "well written character" when she has glaring issues like the ones mentioned above. And its fine if they focused more on K/DA's persona more than runeterra's persona and thats ok but you cant really expect to not have avid lore fans place their 3 cents about it.

Piltovans are aware of the crystal origins, it's naive to think scientists like Heimerdinger don't understand what's the real magic in this magical stones. Just like in real life, people is aware of a lot of morally disturbing actions in the world, yet no one do anything about it. Meat consumption is really similar to the brackern exploitation, and 90% of the world population eats meat... it's really not weird put that way, is it. Seraphine believes her crystal likes her, just like Caitlyn's gun, so it's natural that she can't see a a big problem.

For all we know they dont know and just asume they are some huge product of the rune wars but we have 0 facts to back either pov. Seraphine though I feel that they couldve probably gotten the point across better...? Since both her lore and interactions dont really help? Regarding the meat though its not the same... you dont really use meat to power structures nor does this meat talk to you. If a piece of meat spoke to me giving me knowledge I'd actually feel bad, never consume any again and I'd try to do something. Like... I'd understand if she kept the stone as a necklace or on her so she has "her friend talk to her" but actively knowing that you are draining the soul's energy using it to power a platform is.... like what??? But then again its not even Seraphine's fault since she isnt real but... still doesnt excuse that the lead writers couldve placed a LIIIITLE more care into the Braken and how they'd fit in the plot. But thats just my 2 cents.

The worst thing about the current lore situation is her voice line: "The Brackern fuel our city our futur all I can do is sing their elegy." I dont know if voice lines are canon in lore but this seems like an attempt to justify her not doing anything about the Hextech Chrystals wich are literally slavery. The message of her lore in this case is that she ignores enslaved souls and it says "well there is nothing we can do about it so lets just solve another conflict". It is the same as saying in the slavery of America days that you cant fix the slave issue because slaves are the "future technology" so we should unite the north and the south. This is a perfect parallel to Seraphine ignoring the suffering of the Brackern (Slavery) and wanting to unite Piltover and Zaun ( north and south of America in slavery days).

She doesn't actually possess magic beyond her ability to hear the song of others. it isn't a case of "instantly falling for her". People are more likely to listen to her because she is singing songs that resonate with them, but it isn't actually charming them.

i, a literal teenage rewrote her lore and i, no matter how biased i am, feel like even that fits into the lore better. to sum it up, Sera feels extreme guilt over the crystals situation and guided by it, takes to busking, eventually getting hired as a popstar, all to earn money to buy as many hextech crystals so she can free them back into shurima. it actually gives another meaning to her being a popstar that isnt just "everyone, be FRIENDS!!!" and it feels more likely to be what someone would do if they found out the secret of the crystals

I think I've come to a conclusion: We are *not meant* to like Seraphine, precisely because she *perfectly* encapsulates what it means to be a celebrity in the music industry: > Her story shows someone who targets the vulnerable, while manipulating then suppressing those (the Brackern) she uses/steps over, then provides nothing but a generic 'be nice to each other' message as she's praised for being so 'influential'. > Her theme/kit is essentially taken from an existing musician (Sona), but it's plagiarized as hers anyway. > Her 'Ultimate' skin shows how a decent person morphs into an arrogant, ego-fuelled starlet - who knows if this KDA version reflects in-universe Seraphine when she drops the mask? > And while we're at it, the fact that her 'Ultimate' skin is much lower quality than other alternatives, but has a premium price tag slapped on despite promises to be better. What if Riot is hitting us with a galaxy-brain social commentary, and already has option 1 in motion? i actually love this champion then lol

I just don't have faith in Riot being clever enough to actually pull something like that off when all of the past couple of champion releases had very one note personalities in the game and in concept. We'll see how it goes, however I'm not optimistic when it comes to this character.

Yeah! I think that's a good idea the celestial dog can be the one that gave her powers, the dog is refered in LoR as "The Messenger" and songs are a type of comunication, is really fitting for Seraphine, and also she looks like Zoe (young, childish, cute and sparkly).

I would have loved if Skarner became a mentor to her in a way. If Seraphine took the time to converse and get to know each and every Brackern within the hextech core, referencing each of them in her VO. Having Seraphine be the first human that the Brackern consciousness can directly interact with is genuinely so damn cool. Imagine if she becomes more attuned to them, and together they discover a way to unite Piltover and Zaun so they can find a solution better than hextech and chemtech. That way Seraphine AND Skarner's goals aligned. Skarner could teach her how to resonate with the Brackern consciousness so she can draw out their power well. The Brackern community is *literally* what Seraphine wishes Pilties and Zaunites were like. They're all in perfect unity with one another. Why did they just completely overlook the really good writing potential they had on their hands?

I think this is what they're trying to do with her. The idea here being that the Crystal and Seraphine are harmonising and having a beneficient union. It's very clearly the idea that Seraphine is inspired to be the voice for the crystals, and the very fact why she became popular in the first place, because her songs have decades of singing behind. This is atleast how I saw it, I don't see why people are seeing it any differently. Besides the problematics of the whole influencer stick of course.

They overlooked it because the in-game lore was an afterthought. She was designed solely to sell the KDA skin.

I will forever be confused as to how she managed to walk around Piltover and Zuan without being mugged for her gemstone.

Personally, I'd like it if her story didn't have the Brackern Crystals at all. Make it focus on her journey to unite Zaun and Piltover. They've introduced Seraphine as some optimistic airheaded popstar who dreams of bringing the two cities together through holding hands and singing. She's a Zaunite who grew up in Piltover, so she has this false view that she understands the struggles that Zaunites face. Meanwhile, Piltovans see her as the "perfect Zaunite" because she's been fully integrated into their culture. What I would love to see is for reality to continually slap her in the face. Have her slowly learn of the city's corruption, and the true forces at play that maintain the power dynamic between Piltover and Zaun. You can keep her determination through all of this, but the girl needs a reality check. Imagine some future encounter where her concerts and/or speeches may actually begin to sway some people, and Camille comes along to "convince" her to stop. There is potential here, and seeing something like that play out, I honestly believe would make for a seriously compelling story.

Problems come if the established world bends over backwards in order to accommodate. As long as Piltover's upper class responds appropriately to Seraphine's attempts, then we have an interesting story.

They could make the voice inside the crystals into a villian who brainwashes Seraphine and the masses into using the crystals more. Like one of the crystal scorpions sells out his own race, only one who's aware of what the crystals really are and lives his dream in Piltower as a different being because he figured out how his body works but then Scarner arrives to foil his plans.

The message at the end - Imagine working so hard on a champion like..animation, art, voicing, etc. Just to have her be written into a psychopathic oppressor who upset an entire player base with every aspect of her.

Riot: everyone's upset about the new champ, especially her lore. Rito: I know! a new Lux skin!

I am in love with the first idea. It brings so many potential short stories and conflict. It would also make her more relatable. The therapist would be a metaphor for Riot.

I really like the idea that Seraphines story is all about her having to learn the truth of the world around her. After spending her early life having to struggle with her personal problem (magical hearing), she now has to come to terms with the realities of piltover, zaun, and the truth of hextech and skarner. It could be actually really neat if handled right from this point.

Seraphine is the Aspect of Symphony, a celestial being from the mystical realm of Targon who is responsible for the creation of various different types of musical instruments and sounds. One of these is the magical instrument gifted to Demacia's Maven of the Strings, the Ethwal. As the Aspect of Symphony, Seraphine's love for music and sounds have gifted her the ability to hear people's inner voice, the sounds of their souls themselves. As a result, she developed a curious personality, exploring human civilization and understanding the songs and sounds of different cultures and regions. One of these regions especially intrigued her. Piltover, where Seraphine discovered the power of human technology known as Hextech. There, while disguised as a human, she could hear the sounds of trapped souls within the crystals known to power Hextech. Thus, in order to save these poor spirits, Seraphine decides to let her own voice be heard in place of these drowned out souls in suffering, hoping that through her music, their pleas and voice for freedom would be answered by the people of Piltover and Zaun alike. Done. Much better lore in my opinion. Connects her to Sona's lore while giving her a place in Runeterra, and still connecting her with Piltover and Skarner, albeit with a less sociopathic tone.

that is lovely. In this lore, she actually is a good guy. Instead of remaining oblivious to the screams, she does something to try and help them out with the power she already has. This lore might actually make her a lovable champion and with the connection to sona, their skill kit similarities may be justified.

She could've been a travelling singer trying to unfold the secret behind the crystal. Yes she starts at Piltover, and once she gains enough support and funds she can travel Runeterra to try and look for the owner of the crystal. It can add to the lore of the brackerns with her communicating with it and looking into it as she goes around seeking answers. It can make her interactions with Skarner more wholesome too I guess.

Ngl her being a protest singer is legitimately cool and somewhat can be related to her whole already existing lore. Still, her already recorded lines and interaction with Skarner is just, like, Jesus Christ yikes. If they don't change her interaction with Skarner in-game but actually make her an activist of some sort, then, we have "first-world white activism" scenario on our hand and that could be even more disgusting to some people.

Like why she must be music champ in her Basic look at evelyn she is a demon in base but in kda she is diva

The problem goes further where she's actually kind of a generic high-ego popstar when it comes to her in-game quotes. It's so different from the Twitter personality.

Simple way to fix the lore without touching the lore: Have her music be horrible tortured screaming and make her giggle at it.

I prefer option 1 and 3. While Skarners deservers love, I believe that doing so in service of another character is pretty cheap. Option 1 and 3 also intensifies a strange and cool aspect of League of Legends' lore, that being, it is pretty goddamn dark. Some might even say... GRIMdark. I mean, look at Demacia, stereotypical good guys but also war criminals. Ionia is demon infested and constantly under peril because of external (NOXUS) and internal (Navori Brotherhood/Shadow Order/Xayah, to a lesser extent) affairs. Shurima is in ruins. Targon is going through a civil war. In the Freljord, it is really hard to live and also civil war (with some void shenanigans for extra flavor). And don't get me started on Noxus. Basically, in the grimdarness of Runeterra, there is only (civil) war.

You know, after thinking about the backlash that Riot has received over Seraphine for a while, I think I understand what happened here. Basically, the problem is that Seraphine is a fluffy, cutesy musical mage. Rather, that isn't really a problem inherently, I guess more specifically what I'm trying to say is if she WASN't that kind of character, the backlash wouldn't have been nearly as harsh. Here's why: When she was first shown as a champion, nobody really liked her. Basically, she's another character for e-girls to fawn over (that's what people said). But that alone isn't a problem, after all, Yone is made for edgy teens, Samira and Sett are made for anime fans, and so on. So, why did a character who was clearly made for a specific demographic receive such harsh criticism from everyone? Because of the Sona situation. The terrible thing about Seraphine is that she's ripping off a character that is beloved by her own demographic. So, the Sona players (the same people who adore character designs like Lux, Zoe, Ahri, etc) were pissed because Riot made Seraphine instead of reworking Sona. Going back to what I said at the start of this comment, my point is this. Imagine for a moment, that instead of ripping off Sona, Seraphine ripped off Kayn. Literally, the same move set but with a cutesy flair to it. I PROMISE you, the backlash wouldn't have been nearly as harsh, because the kind of people who like Yone and Kayn a lot weren't going to care for Seraphine. Her demographic would have just been happy to receive another cutesy champion. Sure, there would still be criticisms, these Skyen videos would still have been made, but Skyen is not Seraphine's demographic. Basically, Riot could have ripped off anyone else's kit, anyone at all, and this whole situation wouldn't have been as bad.

@@mlekosojowe7312 It may not play like Sona, but it plays like *Sona should play in modern LoL*, which is to say, Sona is now left to rot without a rework because this was the perfect fit for her. Been here since Season 2 and been hoping for a rework for Sona ever since Karma/Trundle rework, because Sona's kit has always needed attention and Riot themselves agree the kit is problematic. If you look at Bard, he's got nothing like Sona. Now if you look at Seraphine, a lot of her abilities have striking similarities to Sona's, but are overall better. Seraphine's kit is more related to Sona than Aatrox's kit is related to Oldtrox's, and that was a rework. I never mained her, but imagine the people who got attached to Sona for years, and then a better (kit-wise) version of her is being released, while also nerfing Sona. Also just try to play Sona for 10 matches then play Seraphine for 10 matches. If everyone let aside their previous bias, everyone would rather play Seraphine after those 20 games, because they fit the same 'role and purpose' in game. Sona mains got robbed hard. And this all after they sold a new skin just to milk out the last drops of Sona that there were.

The first idea is legit amazing. Would love to see that change, and that seems to be the most fair one to both Skarner and Seraphine imo. Edit: Third Idea is better.

She shouldn't just had this kind of lore imo. She's an "indie" artist in the real "real world". So they should've just made her a wandering sensational songstress mage/support.

One thing that could've helped immensely is that they give the stage itself it's own personality, as if she managed to jury-rig a body for the consciousness within. All they would need to do is change some of her voice lines, give some new animations and re-write the wording in her bio to suggest that the Brackern crystal showed her how to do it.

@@Nico-zt5jl YES I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A STAR GUARDIAN KLED IT IS LITERALLY PERFECT here would be the story kled and Veigar where members of one of the original starguardian teams and they had to fight the Darkstars that where invading their dimension they managed to fight them off but at an incredible cost everyone in the team but veigar and kled died in the fight Veigar in the end managed to close the portal between the dimesions. In the end Veigar lost his magical companion Skarl was greatly corrupted and so where kled and veigar. Veigar and kled no longer wished to protect the world but to rule it with an iron fist, both now wielding dark matter. other champions could be added to make it really fun.

The subreddit I looked at basically has Seraphine being Jhin's protegé to turn sound into her own masterpiece... THROUGH MURDER. XD all these are such good reads.

It’s so weird that people are so upset about the crystal being on her stage but the whole hextech market not being a bad thing? Hello? People buying and selling the souls of an ancient race is okay? Some will say “oh it’s because she can hear the voice, she’s making the conscious decision!” And while yes very true, but literally the hextech market is what makes it justifiable in the setting of runeterra that she would go about it the same way other champions use crystal power weapons and tools. No lie it’s fucked that she asks Skarner point-blank if he wants to hear the song of HIS people performed by HER. That part is suuuuper insensitive considering his lore.

Seraphine makes me think that Aatrox ending the world of Valoran isn't such a bad idea.

Really cool how they made House Elves from Harry Potter but somehow even worse. Like imagine if Dobby was a living battery instead.

I kinda want Skarner to make his way into Zaun (probably through the sewers) and meet Ekko (whohas essentially a shredded crystal in his Z-drive).They fight and Skarner ends up explaining his problem with Hexcrystals. Ekko, being from Zaun,a city full of people who work more with Chem-tech and isn't beyond beating the shit out of Pilties, would go help Skarner and steal as many crystals as he can. I'm sure Ekko isn't beyond stealing as long as it's for doing what's right.

Here’s the scene: Skarner finally arrives in Piltover and Zaun. He hears the cries of his people all around him and flys into a rage as destroys things trying to regain the crystals. Seraphine, on her stage performing, tells everyone to run away. The crowd runs as Skarner begins to charge at Seraphine. Just then Seraphine begins to sing the song that Skarner heard when he first received his crystal. Skarner and her then join together to fight to take back the crystals and liberate the Brakern.

Been mulling this over. What if they combined both and used isakai tropes. Like K/DA Seraphina gets into an accident or something and she wakes up on runeterra. Then she can be trying to get back home and or maybe she's stuck in a limbo where when she is sleeping, she's in the other world. She's trying to figure a way back to her world and has found out she'll need the science of both sides to do it.

For whatever reason this video made me realize how diferent character design has become over time. We don't have beasts like skarner or rammus anymore, just beautiful humanoids or hybrids at most. What a shame. Edit: the last less humanoid characters were Yummi, a cute cat, Ornn, a humanoid goat, and Aurelion Sol. All the others are at least humanoids Edit 2: okay I was looking stuff up and this is hilarious. You know who the character with most time without receiving a skin is? Skarner. He hasn't received a skin since 26th of april 2015. Seraphine is getting an epic for launch skin, While skarner hasn't received a skin in 5 years. Apparently, Seraphine is greedy against Skarner both in the lore and in real life.

@@samuelmcewen9011 Apart from the reworks, which were absolutely amazing, but I mean new characters. Also, agreed, the volibear skin is super cool, what a shame I don't have it EVEN THO I BOUGHT VOLI WHEN IT CAME OUT EXCLUSIVELY TO GET THE SKIN

@@Odisher7 they could at least make the skin epic or legendary, so the theme of "two versions of Volibear" could be done better, and also Voli doesn't have any 1350+ RP skin, but hey Riot is slapping in our face another e-girl character, with a full set of new KDA skins, aren't you happy?

@@fraidei2094 HA! It's clear they created the character for the kda universe and then ported her to Runaterra. That is not a horrible idea, in fact I would say they created Kai'sa as a version of Ironman and then ported her to Lol, but having so many cool universes like project, star guardian, odyssey... And choosing kda? That's just to sell skins. And lo and behold, weird quest epic skin that is actually three skins in a trenchcoat.

Probably. I think he doesn't need new lore he could use a new story. But they probably will update his lore

Loving the video. Had similar thoughts, nice to hear someone present more fleshed out variants. Horton hears a Hu occurred to me as well, and others having the same idea just makes me feel like thats a good angle to take it.

The 'protest singer' variant is probably the best possible version. That could actually be interesting, and still hit the mark Riot was going for.

Have you gotten any sleep or did you just think about her all night (if so, I'm so sorry for your poor brain 😭😭)

Ok, conceptually I think the first idea would work pretty well from a storytelling and worldbuilding perspectives. My only issue with it would be that it venerates a lack of trust in medical professionals, and it could also be interpreted by people who are neuroatypical (who do need profesional help) as them not needing said help.

I've fallen in love with the villain story you told.

I really like the 1st idea of making Seraphine an unintentional villain, and I would LOVE it if in any upcoming stories involving her, Seraphine does finally manage to hear the crystal's agony and that prompts her to run away, where she might actually find Skarner, and the Brackern crystal that's been with her convinces Skarner not to annihilate her on sight. This could lead to Seraphine, now knowing about the horrid truth of the hextech technology, trying to spread the word among Piltover and Zaun, and using her performance rep and her natural ability to charm the audience, she could very well lead a revolt that could lead to the end of Hextech usage. (Edit; I commented this before Skyen reached his 3rd option....)

Love how before Seraphine nobody cared about the truth behind hextech

Your first idea really reminded me of this character from Skullgirls: Cerebella. Her bubbly personality contrasted by the fact that she works for the mafia whilst genuinely confiding that they are the good guys-- the whole story was so compelling and I hope Riot goes with this one.

Skyen I absolutely love you and your videos. You are such a funny and intelligent person and I enjoy every single video I watch by you and I don’t even know what half of it is actually about. Thank you for putting a smile on my face.

You dont need to fix seraphines lore, ITS ALREADY PERFECT Shes Piltovers typical teenage sweet sixteen white girl superstar that oh so cares so much about everything and is super ethical but actually just perpetuates a system that is run by the biggest of captialistic swines in all of runeterra. Its her inability to see anything but the good in the system and in humans, and her ignorance of the ultra-consumerist hellhole that make her character unique and interesting. She is basically a big puppet for the Big Cats of Piltover (including Camille), that distract the general Population from the horrific mass slavery and genocide they do to skarners people. I really liked that one comment ive read about the brakern inside seraphine's crystal using her and the amplifier to make it easier for skarner to track the stronghold(piltover) down. I mean thats millenia old wisdom passed down, surely cunning is part of it. Like what if the souls inside the crystals awaken and learn to control minds of their wielders and controlling the bodies to go back to shurima. And because of these events. Piltovians are forced to find a new source of energy

They could make seraphine go crazy and blame sona for her hate and went after her like how jhin went after zed in the comics

Making her a villain would REALLY save the lore. It would be SUPER fcked up and that would make it amazing. She'd be legitimately more scary to me than fiddlesticks, Mordekaiser, Nocturne, you name it. A pure psychopathic social engineer only focused on her own gain but manipulative enough to present herself as this cutesy-ass popstar? That sh*t is so real, it's actually terrifying.

Here's a fix: have the souls talk to her, like have her be active friends with them.

hmm if Hextek crystals are braken souls, then would that make the "robots with souls" (orianna and blitzcrank) just braken in robot bodies?

The souls don't have any control or voice over anything that's going on, so the hextech crystals are just powering those beings. Seraphine, with her abilities, can hear their voices. Nobody else knows (since Seraphine doesn't even tell the others) that the crystals have actual sentient beings in them.
