Sad for today’s generation, missing out on music like this

Very true. However, I, myself am an 80’s girl through & through & my babes were raised on this music😝😝 I will never stop listening to it! They are now 20&21 & when they were younger, I used to drag them to concerts of all the 80’s bands…. lol. Here’s a funny story… when my son got old enough to go to shows on his own (12 or 13) he said to me “how come when I go to shows with you, we always get to hang out with the bands…. We always get into the backstage or we go out with the bands & they all come back to our home?”😝😝🤷♀️ I was a bit confused so I asked him to elaborate. He said he tried to hang out with the bands he went to see & he was denied. I said idk, I’ve been friends with all these 80’s bands for years🤷♀️ Apparently he thought it was totally normal to go hangout with the bands after the shows & go eat or have everyone come back to our place😝😝🤷♀️🤦♀️ bc he was raised with various bands coming to our home to do their laundry & playing video games, eating , drinking or whatever when the shows ended….. I reminded him that no in fact that is not exactly “normal” 😝😝 . So then of course he asked if I can get him back stage to meet the artists he goes & sees (usually rappers) I said no… I have zero connections to the rap world 🤣🤣🤷♀️
Probably my two favorite Oingo Boingo songs.

"We Close Our Eyes" showcases Danny's amazing range. No one ever mentions him when they're talking about great rock singers, but I think he had one of the best voices out there. And such talent! Losing his contributions to the music world still hurts.

My life was totally F--ked growing up,but bands like (Especially) Oingo Boingo kept me going. Alot of songs inspired me to put up with the bullshit I was dealt. I wonder if some bands realize the affect they have on people? I say them in Irvine (On Thursday) at their last shows. It was beyond words.

You're lucky. I remember my sister and her then boyfriend inviting me to see them on Halloween at the Universal Amphitheatre (I was 16), I said no. Ugh, big mistake!
I'm transported back to my teenage years getting smashed on the front row of a boingo concert and mosh pitting and diving and crowd surfing with the crew. Those were great days that will live forever in my memories. Boingo is without a doubt one of the best live bands, and Danny Elfman is the model of an accomplished, talented musician. A genius, Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo were so underrated. They were way ahead of their dimension. He sang using his voice like any virtuoso used their instrument and took his voice where all the rest couldn’t.

God it sure is! On one hand there is the past, living in the moment you never think "I'm making some great memories here! Or, let me make some great memories!" You just live in the moment and enjoy it. In the present, you never think, "Thank God I made all those great memories!" Because the moments we lived, they just became, incidentally, memories. It feels wonderful and sad to reminisce! Brings a huge smile to my face, and a great somber sadness inside because I know those times will never come back and the day will come when the music just ends. Live life to the fullest everyone!!!

@@_exitcrypt I grew up in Irvine. I discovered them sometime in 1979 after hearing "Ain't This the Life", and then "Violent Love" -- surely on KROQ, which was still new then and before Richard Blade started working there (in '81?). As soon as their ten-inch EP came out I immediately ran over to Licorice Pizza on Newport Blvd (I really miss the way record stores used to smell with all that vinyl!), went home, copied the record to cassettes so I could listen to it in the car, and then played the bloody hell out of them -- over, and over, and over, and over, again and again. At least until Only a Lad came out in '81, and then Nothing to Fear in '82, then Good for Your Soul, then So-Lo, etc., etc., putting each of those on cassette too and only using the LPs to make recordings to cassette. I still have all my LPs too. I've listened to OB's songs literally several thousands of times over. One never gets old of them. It's impossible to. I just wish they'd get back together again.

And if you come to me And if you touch my hand I might just slip away I might just disappear Who am I? And if you think I'm worth it And if you think it's not too late We might start falling If we don't try to hard We might start falling in love (Chorus) We're on the healing path We're on a roller coaster ride That could never turn back And if you love me And if you really try To make the seconds count Then we can close our eyes (chorus) We close our eyes and the world has turned around again
