I sat at the left side of the stage area all day. Concession crew.
A day shy from 30 years old, says he feels like an old man among all the teenage and 20 year old punks, and his band is still the most energetic at the festival. Adrenaline must be one hell of a drug.

One of the most unique bands ever with one of the most unique front man ever. Grew up on Oingo Boing and there has been nothing comparable since....

I remember buying Only A Lad in maybe 1983 when I was maybe 14. I'd Never heard anything like Oingo Boingo. Still haven't. Been living his movie soundtracks for 35 years
Gorgeous Fender Jazz master.... Danny Elfman describing the energy of the concert in the end it’s pretty intense and pretty awesome to see the level of consciousness he was at in 1983..... Danny you Rock man , you’re a such gifted being . I am so proud there is people like you in this world
I was at this festival on this day and my friend got their autographs! It was THE BOMB!! It was like the Woodstock of the 80's!!
Look! In the crowd! It’s 13 year old me up front! Both Us Festivals killed it!
In 1982, I lived in La Mesa, California (a suburb of San Diego), and right down the hill from our apartment was Licorice Pizza (a record store). I walked in, and sitting there was Oingo Boingo signing 45 singles. I walked up, and they gave me a 45 and signed it for me. I remember the experience vividly, and Danny even had the same shirt on as here!!! Seems like he wore that outfit everywhere. I remember he looked super intelligent. His eyes were bugged out of his head (very alert, probably on speed or coke, LOL), and he was super nice to me. I was only 9 years old in 1982! They were all very nice. I have no idea what I did with that 45. It was probably rare! All I know is they hadn’t exploded yet and were known mostly as an up and coming LA band. Not long after, they exploded. It was super cool meeting him in 1982!!!

7:44: Girl: "You hot?" Danny: "Oh, yeah!" Oh yeah is right, honey, you are *hot*!
If Danny Elfman wasn’t used as the basis for Kletus Kassidy in any capacity I’d be surprised. He’s like a demented Elvis, haha.
This is one of my favorites. It also ties in so well at the ending of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Great great song. They have so much great music...
I am a huge fan .... those guys were at another level musically.... not many people played Gibson Les Paul in this era post 70’s ... Guitarist playing Gold top you can see they didn’t followed trends back then ... amazing musicians and awesome music what a phenomenal sound and the horn section wow ..... Thank you so much for uploading .... this is fantastic

I'm 78 now, and this was my first concert. I rode my bike there with two neighborhood friends, over the George Washington Bridge. We were crazy back then.

My first concert was 83’ also, seen ZZ Top twice in July at The Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale L.I., then at MSG in September. But I was a 16 year old, you seen your first at 40?! The September deal had “Battle of the Local Bands” winner and newly signed to a major label, Jon Bon Jovi opening up, His {their} very first professional gig in the “Major Leagues” After “She’s A Little Runaway”, crowd got restless almost immediately, and started booing heavy and throwing pennies at JBJ and the group. I had 8th row floor, just a ‘paper slice’ off center.

Haha what a troll comment. You were 40 riding your bike to concerts? And I never knew the GWB connected NYC to California but I guess you learn something new every day. Must have been a hell of a bike ride.

Dedication
The more I reflect, this is the band that helped me transition from the end of High School (1984) to adulthood. This band F'd me up, lol! Great band. Seen them 7 times, once on Halloween in Southern Ca. Lot's of people dressed up. Me and my GF were into it but her BF and boyfriend were not into it, at all. Always good times with this band!!!!
"It felt like there was small nuclear explosions going on" Danny would actually know how that feels. He studied radiation science as a kid and did experiments using radioactive materials, even winning third place in a science fair.

I went mostly for the Clash, but oingo boingo put a great show on also!!
I lived in San Bernardino county but was 12 at the time. I saw some on TV. "Goodbye Goodbye" is an awesome song, but I had never heard it at the time because it wasn't on any of the albums and of course I had never been to a live show. It showed up several years later on the Boingo Alive album.

The studio version of that song was on the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack, 1982 I think. So it was available back then but you had to shell out for a soundtrack LP even if you didn't like the other cuts to get that Oingo Boingo gem.
