Oil train ops. CPKC Artesia and Tuscaloosa subdivisions.

In this weeks video we’ll take a quick look at oil trains that travel on the CPKC Artesia and Tuscaloosa subdivisions in eastern Mississippi. These oil trains are interesting to railfan because of the variety of power and consist configurations. Enjoy the video!

Jackson MS to Artesia MS - CPKC - oil loads
Power configuration: 1x1, 2x1, or 3x0
Typically CN run through power.
Artesia MS to Tuscaloosa AL - Alabama Southern RR. - oil loads
Power configuration: 2x1, 3x0
Typically lead by CPKC power but keeps CN DPU.
Tuscaloosa AL to Artesia MS - Alabama Southern RR. - oil empties
Power configuration: 1x0, 3x0, or the entire train is combined with a manifest.
Artesia MS to Jackson MS - CPKC - oil empties
Power configuration: 1x0, 2x0, 3x0
Sometimes takes a cut of manifest with it.

    Great video. Narrative awesome. As previous poster said;Hunt refinery - asphalt, transportation fuels, light oils. Their website shows a picture of a large siding and a good sized tank farm. Certainly looks to be able to take those tankers.

    Great stuff as always! I'm also curious where those oil trains terminate, but a likely candidate is Hunt Refinery in Tuscaloosa. That facility looks big enough that it could have a dedicated train for bringing crude oil.
