Oil Pastel Landscape - Impressionist.

In this class we explore oil pastel and Impressionism techniques.
Information About Jamie's classes.
My art classes run over 10 weeks for each term three times a year in Spring, Summer and Autumn. I currently have one online on Thursday between 7pm-9pm on Zoom.
All courses usually start with drawing using different materials including pencils, biro pen, ink and brushes or charcoal. Then we use acrylic paints as well as watercolour, colour pencils, oil pastels and much more. To start with you will need a set of drawing pencils, eraser, ruler, and a good sketchbook A4 size.
Subjects might be something as simple as reflections but is often a subject like portraits, landscapes, still life, wildlife or figurative art. During the course you will have the opportunity to try new materials, techniques and be experimental. This is inspired by a range of contemporary as well as traditional artists.
The online lessons run in the evenings (UK time - GMT or BST) using the Zoom App. You don't need a Zoom subscription but you will need the app downloaded onto your computer and a webcam or computer or mobile camera. Each week I send a link to the meeting. These sessions are recorded and shared on my website www.jamie-poole.com. So you can see the class again later or catch up if you can't make it. Please book at www.jamie-poole.com

I have the Sennelier and they’re reeealy soft and a little bit greasy, I have a little trouble getting opaque marks with them. I’m thinking I need to let the layers dry in between? I like the Paul Ruben’s a lot for the price. I’m also an art teacher.

Sennelier oil pastels are not the same consistency in all their sticks, so some pigments are more transparent. Is doesn't matter you apply more layers, is the pigment in itself that is transparent, plus oil pastels do not dry persé. Being an art teacher, Im surprised you don't know the basics...
