Oil Painting: Limited Palette Expanded (Introduction)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here is a primer video on the expanded limited palette that I like to use. Instead of using one red, yellow, and blue in addition to brown and white - we have pairs of primary colors.
By using a "warm" and a "cool" version of each primary color, we can greatly increase our color mixing potential. One example: you can get a cleaner green by mixing the cooler version of yellow (Cadmium Lemon) and blue (Cobalt) instead of Ultramarine Blue and Cadmium Yellow Deep which lean towards red and that will neutralize the green mixture. The former mixture leans away from red which results in a more powerful intense green.
A recap of the colors:
Red
Cadmium Light
Quinacridone Magenta
Blue
Ultramarine
Cobalt
Yellow
Cadmium Lemon
Cadmium Deep
Brown
Asphaltum
White
Titanium
Flake Replacement
We will do a future video with all these paints out and we will do some color mixing in real time!
Thank you for watching and hope this helps!

I have not tried yet Cobalt blue, but I have tried PB36 named sometimes cerulean, sometimes cobalt turquoise. I love that pigment in particular is my best chance for a primary blue with green shade
Great video. Have you noticed any yellowing in the Flake White Replacement?
Keep at it mate. Some of us look forward to everything you have to say.

Glad you think so!
Sage advice! I started with a zorn pallete and then ultramarine blue and also burnt umber. I only recently discovered the benefits of using flake white .. its amazing for mixing compared to titanium white
