    Charles Marshall 👍👍 Just recycle ♻️ that oil from the catch can of the Dodge into that Ford! It’ll either leak out on the floor as you mentioned, or burn it up!

  • @bsd103
    @bsd1038 жыл бұрын

    So the oil doesn't burn up, the term blow-by refers to combustion gasses getting past the piston rings - this creates pressure in the crank case, that is vented up through the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve into the intake manifold. A bit of oil can be vented this way - the purpose of the catch can is indeed the effect on octane rating that you mentioned when the oil gets into the air/fuel mixture. Hope that makes sense!

    I just bought mine from BT... coming in next week, will probably make a video, lol. I had one on my GDI Hyundai Accent, got about 3 teaspoons every oil change (3-5k miles). GDI engines are dry intakes, where as the fuel is directly injected into the cylinder, hence the need. The whole reason the HEMI motors have this blow-by is because of an ass-backwards routing of the PCV valve into the manifold. So any/all crank-vented oil vapor is being pumped into your intake. This, of course is normal on most cars, but the 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 HEMI's just get an obnoxious amount of blow-by. I got mine on Ebay (through B/T) for $119.99. Keep up the good work, man!

    Oil catch can efficiency depends on can size. When draining it, disconnect the hose from the intake manifold. Inside the hose should be slightly wet to dry. If it is noticeably wet, the can is too small.

    If you have a lot of Blow-By or a least when you look into your Oil Cap and see a lot of Moisture when Engine is Hot or see a lot of Moisture in the Muffler/Exhaust.... This will help a lot especially Starting issues! I installed this in my Dad's Truck after seeing a lot of Moisture in the Oil Cap / Muffler / Exhaust and Hard Start of Humid / Cold / Rain Morning / Nights. Now the Trucks starts right away and works really smooth too. BTW... I see my Dad always have problems starting in the Morning or when Rain out. I also see a lot of Steam coming out of Oil Cap when the Engine gets Hot! Once I install the Oil Catch Can with a Filter for venting, somehow it solved it, especially Hard Starting in the Morning / Nights!

  • @JDRoss716
    @JDRoss7168 жыл бұрын

    Oil catch can, oil separator same same. Great protection for any engine, must haves for forced induction (turbo or supercharged) and direct injection engines and here's why. During the combustion process the air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber can squeeze or blowby the piston rings during compression and vent down into the crankcase which can destroy a engine if the crankcase pressure is not vented. Manufacturers vent this gas, which is a mixture of air, fuel and oil vapor, back into the intake to be burned off during the combustion process. Older port injection engines have the fuel injector above the intake valve which spray down towards the valve during the intake phase. Gasoline is a solvent and this helps clean any oil buildup that may form on top of the intake valve due to the recycled crankcase gases. Direct injection engines have a bigger problem with oil in the intake and intake valves because in a direct injection engine, the fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber and doesn't touch the top of the intake valves. Oil buildup on intake valves, often referred to as coke, can rob performance and eventually may lead to engine damage. Forced induction engines have higher engine pressures and can have more blowby than naturally aspirated engines.

I've never had any engine issues with it period! You wouldn't believe the amount of that dirty Black Hydrocarbons I've caught from going into the intake. It smells like a mixture of blow by gases and gasoline. Nasty Stuff!

    I believe that as the piston/rings become worn and BLOW-BY increases, it becomes essential because more oil passes into the intake and the cylinders get sludge, like my dodge ram v8. I looked into the cylinders with the endoscope and I could see sludge at the top of the cylinders where the piston stops; I was able to clean some out, but eventually the heads will need to come off and replace pistons and rings etc.

I installed a catch can on my dodge ram v8 and I still see some oil in the plenum, although the catch-can did catch some too; I wonder if it needs two cans in series to be more efficient. I don't think it is the plenum gasket because I replaced it with the HUGHES KIT.

    Ronnie Beltran Hey Ronnie, I found that it’s up to the service department at the dealer, if they don’t give you the answer you wanna hear just go to another dealer. A dealer I made friends with told me that if your modification is directly the reason why your vehicle malfunctions, then the warranty is voided and Dodge is not responsible for the damage. So for example if I upgrade my exhaust and my radio goes out, the warranty is not voided, but if I install aftermarket lights that drain my cars battery causing it to die all the time, Dodge will void my warranty because my light modification caused the cars battery to die. Sorry for the lengthy response, hope this helps!

    +RP Productions exactly - you just proved my point. If the risk was high when it comes to engine life and durability, I am pretty sure this would have been a standard feature. The risk for having it is higher than not having it, and it could do more harm than good. I don't believe it has anything to do with cost savings!

    +Ramy Mesiha On direct injection engines the intake valves don't have nothing to clean them, all of those blow by gases get the valves dirty and restricts air to the cylinder. I have two tiny videos my car is a 2016 mazda 6 with just 1,500 miles and it had oil at the bottom of the intake.

    I have already added one to my 6.1 SRT Challenger, and have had no issues at all. Of I use products made in US or Canada only on my Mopar, and believe that these high performance motors can benefit from a can. As long as it is installed correctly and use of quality products, you would be ok to do one Jordan.

    hey dude i have the same car but mine is an 06 5.7 hemi and it has a cold air filter and an oil catch can as well ... my question is do would the catch can reduce ur oil psi ? mine is at 15 psi at worm idle abt 6 700 rpm .. my mechanic told me its to low and i will need a new engine soon i gues its supose to be 25 to 35 but i dont see any negatives in performance i also keep hear "rule of thum 10psi for every 1k rpm i just wana kno what u think ?

  • @RPProductions

    +Jhon Getto I don't think the catch can would have any effect on your oil psi since it's purpose is to only catch the oil blow by that would just get injected into the intake! I'm really not too sure what would be the cause of your PSI being low. I'd ask on either a charger forum page or on a charger group on facebook!
