I feel Ohtani is more worried about lagacy than being ultra wealthy. That's not a bad thing.

I agree. I think Ohtani moving to the Dodgers will be better for the relevance of baseball as a whole than it will be for Ohtani or the Dodgers themselves. I keep flashing back to Gretzky going to the Kings.

Japanese tourists in 2023 were estimated to be over a million in Southern California, generating over $1.4 billion in tax revenue. Multiply that be ten. As popular as Shohei Ohtani is in Japan, he is the main reason for trips from Japan to LA. Ohtani deferred his entire $680 million contract without interest until he retires. In actuality, his $700 million contract is only in the high $400 million range when inflation is factored in. For the state of California lawmakers to insinuate that Ohtani is dodging the tax code is far from the truth. Ohtani is making the state of California an enormous amount of money with all the sales and the influx of Japanese tourists; he is a market magnet

4:27 Astute symbolism! 😅 Ohtani's own financial engineering team has all the tools, for certain! And L.A. came out satisfied too. Definitely the benchmark for this decade, probably beyond! And thanks for a great year on this channel! 😎✌️

These salaries will kill the small market as it did for Montreal. You need two teams on the field to play baseball.

I actually think this is a dumb deal for Ohtani. Take the $35-40 million/year now instead of in a decade or two. Who knows what will happen in the future?
