Thanks Jay!! Decals from: www.nficorp.com. Mine are printed on the inside before the glue goes on so the printing is protected. I also use the best glue they have.

I’m loving the videos and binge watching everything! Motorcycles are my hobby and passion and suspension has always been something I’ve been fascinated by. Being in it for so long, how did you end up in this field? Are there seminars and apprenticeships that one would be able to get into to learn more?

Hi Jason. As everything I have done in my life I have no idea how it happened. I just was lucky enough to have Bruce Burness has a friend and being around racing in the 60s in Southern California. It was interesting to me as it is to you. I fear that seminars are mostly just people telling you things they actually don't know about. Just remember it is not rocket science and you can learn by doing it and making mistakes along the way.

@@theohlinsguy4649 I have a spare shock for my 750 that I took apart specifically to learn on. Seeing the actual parts in my hand, in conjunction with having the knowledge from books and watching videos has helped to some point. Now I just need certain pieces of equipment, but I don’t know if you’ll see enough hobbyist buying that just for a hobby lol.

@@jasonsarmiento3029 Perfect. Some tools can be made and some things can be done without tools but it takes a lot longer to do it. Ohlins tools are at times a bit expensive but there are other sources for tools that are less expensive. Check around on the internet.

What a great and instructional video! Is there any particular reason for assembling it without the bump stop or its just safe enough for the application, to be mounted like this?

It's just my opinion. If I am setting up a shock I never use them. I don't take them out if I am servicing a damper that has them. Another great question! Thanks!!

Would this model be suitable for use in conjunction with coil springs on an approximately 3100lb car (C5 Z06)? I would have to re-design at least one mounting point on all four units to allow for ride height adjustment that functions independently of spring preload, but that should be no problem. I know a guy that has adapted a set for use on his C5 FRC, but as far as I know he's still using transverse composite leaf springs (factory configuration). I like the idea of using these because they seem like one of the best shocks on the market in terms of their "re-valveability". Plus, it will be a good opportunity for me to get to design something with CAD. Thanks!

If you can get them to fit I think they are a great choice. Remember there is also an InLine model that works great in tighter spaces. Only downside to the ILX is for any given shock length there is a bit less travel.

Wow such thorough assembly i like it, this shock is the same for dirt bikes? have you heard of bypass shocks? waiting for the next video!

I think the dirt bike shock is called a Flow. It is very different. I have seen bypass shocks for off road use. I don't think Ohlins makes any like that.

Cool video. I didn't know Ohlins made these build it yourself kits. You mentioned that you use 1309 oil for motorcycles. Do you use this for moto shocks? My local Ohlins guy uses 01304-01 for my shock which makes sense since it's lower viscosity and there will be less of a change in viscosity when it heats up.

Yep, Your guy is correct. Ohlins Flows use 1304. Hopefully I said for most motorcycles. You need to look on the Ohlins spec sheet for the correct oil. I did some fork inserts a while ago that used 1314! Also some of the oils on the older spec sheets have been discontinued so you need to ask your guy what new oil to use. Great question!!

How about some tuning videos how oil weight effects damping things that apply to track day riders drivers . You got the skills and a great personality crack on and make videos

Hi Phil. Thanks! First off, grip is grip. Street, track day or race. All the same. You should never tune with oil. This is just a thing used by those who can't do it the correct way. You will see a slight change in damping values with viscosity change but you should alway do this with shims and bleeds. Most all Ohlins auto and motocross use Ohlins1304 2.5 weight and all other motorcycles 1309 5 weight. There might be some exceptions with special oils in special cases but it would always be for oil performance in the conditions the vehicle will be in and never for damping.

Thanks Ramone. I am in Ventura county. I just service Ohlins shocks and forks and don't take them off of the bikes or cars. Most of my work gets shipped to me but if you are close you can bring them here

Any videos showing how to replace the shock bearings? I’ve got to replace a 10mm bearing with a 12mm bearing on the upper shock mount.

Sorry, no. They just press out. Some of them have a round circlip on each side that you have to remove and some of the motorcycle ones just press in with no circlips. I use a small arbor press to remove them. Heating the end eye sometimes makes it easier

@@theohlinsguy4649 I tried removing them with a bearing puller (slide hammer type) and they didn’t budge. That’s why I stopped before breaking anything.
