I have learned that it is the people that make the home. It's the memories you made in that house that you miss most of all. You are so blessed to be brought up with such beautiful Christ following parents. Family is irreplaceable.

I live now in my great grandparents house, that became my parents house and I grew up here through my teenage years and early twenties until I married. Sixteen years later my husband and I had the opportunity to get this house. I love it but it has lots of issues being nearly or over 100yrs old. Sooo, after saying all this, I wanted to say that I understand because we will probably eventually have to move from this house I love so much. The love you guys have for one another is really special. It’s so much like my own family. It brings tears. Loved this!!!

I love your parents home. Perfect size for a few people. Not too big for one person to clean. Not a ton of stairs, perfect retirement home.

What a lovely surprise for your family! I’m sure they loved it! We moved my Mom out of the house I grew up in a few years ago. It was really hard for my mom and us to say goodbye to it and so strange to see it now with other people living in it. In the end, though, it was the right thing to do and I’m glad she made that move. It’s the memories from that house and our family that are important, not so much the house itself. It will get easier with time. The new house looks great! Clearly you and your mom have the gift of creating lovely homes!

I know the feeling of leaving behind your childhood home. I lived behind my parents for many years after I married and had babies, and then they sold and moved. It was so hard seeing other people live in "our house" lol. After about 2 years we finally moved too. It was just so hard watching someone else live there. I still go by it from time to time. It looks just the same, and then different all at the same time. I still hurt when I see it. I lived there my whole life, all my memories are there. So, I do know that sadness, but my Mother said the house was never the same once all the kids were moved out. She said it just seemed lonely somehow. So, they needed a new start. Your parents new home is lovely. Your Mother has wonderful decorating skills! Love to you from TN.
