A few more don’ts: DONT SKIP Put-In-Bay. Put-In-Bay is a town on South Bass Island with some really cool sights. You can go up to the top of Perry’s Monument and get some amazing views up there. If you look East, you’re looking DOWN on Cedar Point! And on a clear day, you can see all the way to Cleveland! The bar and restaurant scene is really good there as well. Ahhh you bring back memories! I grew up, and still live, in NW Ohio. Something I realized years ago about the Amish population around me is that not everyone has them and it blew my mind because I grew up always passing buggies in cars and seeing them plow their fields. As a child I thought everyone had that until we had some people from out of state come to visit and just seeing the Amish blew their minds. I'm lucky to live on the Indiana/Ohio state line so I see both the Ohio and Indiana populations. Besides that, the lakes, parks, and food mentioned bring back lots of memories.

Great video, like all of yours. 30 years ago, heading west form NY on I-80, stop in a rest stop just into Ohio. Looking out at the cars, one is covered in smoke and I thought poor people. Oh no, that car was ours. Special small little hose on water pump split. Directed to a Ford dealer one exit west. They were backed up with work but they had the hose and welcomed me to do the work myself and provided the tools. Back on the road in just a bit, great people. There was also an Airstream rally going on in the area and now I understand why.

Thanks for the great video about Ohio. We're often unfairly maligned as a flyover state, but Ohio is great! We have all sorts of entertainment options, lots of culture to experience all over the state (German Village in Columbus is a must), and wonderful, often world class, museums. I'll take the Museum of the US Air Force just outside Dayton over the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum anyday. Seriously. Ohio may be the "day trip" capital of the country, theres so much to do, Everywhere. When our kids were little, we took daytrip excursions multiple times each summer and never saw the same thing twice. And its very cool to spend the day in a city doing the sights, then drive 30 minutes or so and be in beautiful rural countryside. Maybe the best part about Ohio is since we're often maligned as a state, home and consumer prices are still very reasonable thanks to the coastal folks not knowing about Ohio. Bonus for that is were still full of Midwest hospitality, not big city snobbery or fakeness

Ohio has been such an important part of my life even though I've lived in Montreal most of my life. When I was growing up, my family and I would be going to Cleveland (where my mother was born and raised) at least twice a year to visit relatives. I attended "the" Ohio State University for two years, 15-20 years ago, and I had a summer internship in Cleveland right after that. And finally, close to 15 years ago, my sister married a guy who grew up in Columbus and before that in Cincinnati, and for eight years now they've lived in Columbus.

Hello, I just subscribed, found your channel because Mr. H and Friends was doing a reaction this current video, so I thought I'd come over and send you a message about a museum that people don't really know about unless you go to Ashtabula, OH, it is called the Maritime Museum. I know about it because of my family history about The Dorothea M. Geary, the first electrically welded steel hull tugboat in the world, built by my Great Grandfather Frank Geary in 1915. I was born in Buffalo, NY, but I live in South Carolina now.... I've enjoyed your videos on the south too! I just thought I'd share a little family history about it with you.... I have relatives in Ohio.... my mom and dad were born in Ohio, and my Great Grandfather, Frank Geary (who only had an 8th grade education), started his business The Geary Boiler Works and Machine Shop in Ashtabula, Ohio. It was actually opened in the late 1800's, and he and his employees were instrumental in making the FIRST ELECTRICALLY WELDED STEEL HULL TUGBOAT in 1915 . From my understanding electric welding, or arc welding, was a new form of welding at that time, and that tugboat was named after my Great Aunt Dorothea, naming the Tugboat "The Dorothea M. Geary". My Grandmother, my dad's mom, Lillian Geary, who was 10 years old at the time, Christened the tugboat with a bottle of Champaign before putting it into the water. The Dorothea M. Geary was not only used to go out to ships in the Ashtabula Harbor to fix their Boilers on the ships, but in the winter time, they used it to be able to break through the ice to be able to get to the ships that would not be able to get in for repairs otherwise. It is also my understanding that they also were instrumental in fixing the boilers on the war ships during WWI & WWII.... The Dorothea M. Geary is now at The Ashtabula Maritime and Surface Transportation Museum, 1071 Walnut Blvd., Ashtabula , Ohio if anyone is interested. It is kind of strange how we learned about it being at the museum. To make it a brief story, brother was working in Texas and was talking with a new guy who had just moved down from Chicago. He was telling my brother about a Tugboat nicknamed the "Ugh" because it was ugly, but was used for teaching young boys and young teenagers how to use tugboats at the time and that it was originally called "The Dorothea M. Geary".... well that caught my brother's attention, so he called my dad telling him about that conversation and so my dad did some research calling places in Ashtabula, OH. He was referred to the Maritime Museum who had JUST RECEIVED THE DOROTHEA M GEARY TUGBOAT AS A DONATION!!! Wow.... talk about timing! The Director of the Museum was overjoyed to have a family member with direct knowledge of the Tugboat and it's original family history! Prior to that they didn't have hardly any history on it before dad's "out of the blue" phone call!! My dad talked with him about the Geary Boiler Works and stories of when he worked there in the summers while dating my mom! We even did a video of dad telling family stories about what it was like, and specific questions the museum wanted to have answered, so that video is also at the museum.... kind of a big deal in our family.... just thought I'd share it with you.... I know you are interested in American history.... that that is part of my Family history... if you are ever in Ohio again, please check the Maritime Museum out, and perhaps do a video on it.... I'm sure they'd love to have you.... have a great day!

Two of the best are the Ohio State Fair and the Canfield Fair outside of Youngstown, Ohio. I spent my summers there what I use to do was go to Cedar Point in Sandusky King’s Island near Cincinnati the rock and roll museum and Canton for the NFL hall of fame. Some places are smaller such as hiking along the black river in Lorraine going to small restaurants in Lorraine at are forgotten not the big chains such as hot dog haven, George’s family restaurant going to Vermilion and hanging out at Lake Erie. Going to Cleveland itself to see the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) play baseball going to the Cleveland Browns games and Cavaliers games even after they won the Championship in basketball. Outside of that area the state is pretty spacious to explore such as Amish areas I been to stores that they run they make good furniture don’t disturb their community

Just moved from Michigan to eastern suburbs of Cleveland. Cannot believe how hilly and wooded it is. I have five waterfalls with in one mile of my house and I’m only 15 minutes from downtown. I only knew Ohio as being the western trek down I 75. Flat and boring. This area is really picturesque, especially now with all the colors.

Ohio is apart of the Appalachia so we’re very wooded! It’s why our flag is the way it is… meant to represent the hills & valleys. It’s nuts how people think Ohio is just flatlands. Far from it!
