Part of that was definitely griffin egging Justin, and justin being the older brother and subconciously knowing it was a trap. But part of it was "ahh, ooh, ah, manual labor, owwww, my beautiful hands!

And taako's nonexistent work ethic saves them this one time

I know you meant "worm", but seeing "work" destroy the town is funny to me because Taako specifically doesn't want to work at all. More like giant "lazy" destroys the town. Haha. (This is a stupid joke, but I made it anyway.)
