As a videographer, I think you would absolutely love the storytelling of My Blood by TOP. It is not part of the lore of Clancy in Trench, but I really think you would love it.

Just remember these will show a cycle of mental health. Tyler writes in metaphors, and is very involved with the video making process, so there are deeper meanings than what you see.

This is one of my favorites!! This was filmed in Iceland. The cinematography is stunning! And you see the origin story of the black on his neck. I agree … take the ride, yes Nico and the Niners is next. It was filmed in Ukraine. This entire storyline / lore needs to be a movie 🍿 The key things to remember, this is a representation of Tyler’s mental health journey and everything is a cycle, so the timelines criss-cross at times, since when you are battling mental health issues it’s hard to completely break free. Between HeavyDirtySoul and this (first part of the Trench Trilogy), they went radio silent (aka “the hiatus”) for over a year. But during that time, Tyler took the character of Blurryface and the Bishops and created an entire world (Dema) where he could dive in and explore the ways Blurryface controls him. That’s why at the beginning, Tyler says “We’ve been here the whole time. You were asleep. Time to wake up” Tyler has escaped from Dema (which you will see in Nico and the Niners) and Blurryface has come after him. When he puts the black on his neck, it puts Tyler under his control. But the lyrics are basically, he will return to Dema, but the only way to truly control Tyler would be to take away his ability to make music (take me by the throat and break both my hands). It’s hauntingly beautiful. But then he sees the yellow flowers - the Trench color, which represents hope and the Banditos, led by Josh the Torchbearer. They are there but they can’t fight Blurryface, because it’s Tyler’s mental health battle to fight, but they throw the yellow petals to remind Tyler that he isn’t alone and it gives him the courage to break free and run. He stumbles and falls, but Josh is still there watching over him. The sequencing and timeline will make a bit more sense when you watch the “I Am Clancy” album teaser, but I would just keep going through the videos in the playlist.

Side note: the jumpsuit represents protection and the yellow tape represents the Bandito’s rebel color. In the lore, the Bishops can’t see the color yellow (which is an actual form of color-blindness). This album is Tyler acknowledging that he can’t face this battle alone. The jumpsuit and the Banditos can represent faith, family, friends, or other means of support. They even changed the logo from |-/ in Blurryface to ||-// representing the extra bars of protection. And if you notice, the logo is back to |-/ for the Clancy album, but the bars are stronger and can stand solidly on their own.

That's Nico/Blurryface one of the 9 bishops on the horse. He puts the black on Tyler's neck which symbolizes Tyler's anxiety and insecurities. He's in Trench trying to escape Dema but he keeps cycling back. The Banditos are his people above the cliff trying to rescue him. Josh the drummer is one of them. If you watch "I am Clancy" video, Tyler explains the lore.

I love all the jaw dropping moments. You might enjoy watching the behind the scenes videos that accompany these. Also their tour kicks off in August and seeing them live is magical.

When they released the Trench album, they opened their concerts with this song, totally setting the mood for the whole show. On the second leg of the tour, they sang this song towards the middle of their sets, and immediately followed it with. “Heavydirtysoul, which was epic. Getting 2 of their bangers back to back. Tyler's hair is a lot shorter in the Caddy shots, showing they already knew what they were going to do for this video and shot the sequences for this during the HeavyDirty Soul filming. Such great forethought

I can't think of anyone how has created concept albums that span 10 year project. The world created along the music and videos is amazing. Strange is almost over. The concert means everything

Totally agree! I still can’t believe the record label went with it when Tyler pitched the idea! 😂 It’s very bittersweet that it’s all coming to an end with Clancy. Whatever Tyler is cooking up next will be fire I’m sure, but we’re all so invested in this story, it’s sad to come to the end! We need to wait until spring/summer 2025 for the UK dates! Can’t wait!

You gotta do “Nico and the Niners” next. Then “Levitate”, but technically it’s all starts with, “My Blood”. It shows their brotherhood and how they’re always there for each other.

The Banditos tossing yellow flower petals from above mirrors the confetti we get at the end of every concert. Color imagery is big with TOP. Everything with this band is intentional. Enjoy the Ride! I certainly love watching you discover their talent!! ❤|-/💛

love this song and beautiful cinematography. when tyler says 'you have to grab my throat and lift me in the air....tie me down and break both my hands' i think he's talking about the areas of his body that get covered in black paint, the only way he will give in to Blurryface/Nico is if he physically can't make music anymore because it's how he battles with his mental health.

And then what really blows me away is I think this video represents how depression is for some people. The guy on the horse capturing Tyler and Tyler just sort of succumbing, his friends on the ridge trying to help but from afar, a glimpse of hope (yellow petals) and Tyler tries to escape, but stumbles and gets pulled back in again. Genius.

I’ll leave the lore etc to the others..what I want to say is as fans we watch to enjoy the music, see our boys & uncover the lore, a musician watching would add a certain amount of analysis if the music but watching you add another layer of videography makes for a really interesting reaction. It’s like seeing the whole mv again for the first time. Your mind must be in overdrive 😆 Can’t wait to see you do this journey

I Am Clancy does help piece a lot of this together for you but if you want to watch it after all the lore videos that works too, just ties it all together for you The hooded figure is a clearer look at Blurryface (who was driving in Heavydirtysoul) who develops further into this album and is given the name Nico He has come to capture Tyler and bring him back to the city of Dema that the 9 bishops rule (Nico and the Niners) That is where the next video will start (Nico and the Niners) - with Tyler trapped in Dema Yellow is a color of hope When he's talking about his hands and neck he's meaning if the bishops want to stop him they'll need to stop his ability to create music - and the paint represents insecurities with his music and being controlled by Blurryface

@@joeesparks7 Glad you're doing this. Trench is a masterpiece. It dropped after Tyler and Josh went on one of their longest breaks as a band. They had been touring and releasing music nonstop, so when they took this break and went silent it was crickets for what felt like an eternity. Then, all of the sudden the rollout of Trench came in the form of the most unexpected lore reveal with a secret website with all of these mysterious clues and codes for the fan base to unpack. It was fascinating and wild, we had no idea what to expect. When Jumpsuit dropped there was a moment of realizing just how incredible Trench was going to be. The time and effort, the thought process of creating this entire world, the writing, the production, literally everything is amazing. I can't wait to watch your journey, Levitate is FIRREEEEEE.
