There’s nothing I love more than watching someone discover PTX exactly the way I did. The smile didn’t leave my face for days and the feeling was indescribable. Welcome to PTX!

From the first time these kids decided to eventually do this video, they waited 5 years before recording it. They wanted to be absolutely sure they had it right. They made it their own and boy oh boy, they got it right 👀

The shooting stars at the end were added to pay homage to Brian May, who received his doctoral degree in astrophysics. PTX are perfectionists.

So this reactor (also named Lee) has been doing PTX reactions for a while. He just reposted this because the blocked filter-less version was finally released.

That percussion is 100% Kevin. The level to which he sounds like an actual drum kit is mind-bending.

The shot of the starry sky behind the last guitar solo is a nod to Brian May, who later went on to earn a PhD in astrophysics. My intro to Pentatonix was "Hallelujah," which you MUST react to. Welcome!

Absolutely love watching a new reactor to Pentatonix..You are right, they are amazingly talented and they are human instruments. Loved your reaction of being speechless. 💕

I know you reacted to this awhile back, so I'm glad to see you finally got it uploaded without the filter! They worked on this arrangement for a full five years before finally recording it out of respect to Queen's original. The megaphone was just a prop...they don't use it when they perform the song live. Brian May loved this version so much that the day it was released, he shared it on all of his social media platforms with one simple word in the description box: "ENJOY!"

Honestly, I find it so hard not to dance when Pentatonix sings!😆 I think you would like their cover of Mad Word and Can't Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis!! Or any others, you really can't go wrong with PTX!!

Oh, this is going to be fun! As a long-term "Pentaholic", I really enjoy the vicarious thrill of rediscovering them through someone else's eyes...or rather ears. They started by doing tons of covers, but have added quite a bit of original music as well. Every song they do will blow you away in one way or another. They've astonishingly tackled almost every genre you can imagine, and some you probably can't. They won an a Capella reality-show competition ten years ago, and quickly became KZread sensations. The three lead singers went to high school together in Texas. What are the odds of three vocalists of this caliber all going to the same school? Seriously?! They've won multiple Grammys, toured much of the world, and the number of views many of their songs on their official KZread channel have tallied is truly mind-boggling. I could go on and on. But if I had to choose my favorite song or songs, well...don't make me choose. (You will be overwhelmed by the many suggestions you'll receive from others, anyway.) You really can't go wrong. They've done hundreds and not a turkey in the bunch.

Brian May praised their performance. They have a lot of original songs, though they are mostly known for their covers.

The original song was over 6 minutes long and Queen had a hard time convincing someone to play it. It would later become their most popular song

PTX Official have behind the scenes footage for this video. In the footage Kevin (the human beatboxer/human drum machine) says he came up with idea of Mitch doing Brian May’s guitar solo with a megaphone. That idea was straight up GENIUS! If you look for footage of them performing this live on tour, Mitch does it with a regular microphone and damn near sounds the same. This group is BEYOND TALENTED! I’m sure it’s been commented before, but Brian May shared this video to his Twitter feed when this video first came out.

Brian May posted the link to this on his social media when it came out. High praise indeed.

They do a lot of covers but they do have original songs also, they have been together for 10 years, with only one member change. The Bass Avi left amicably in 2017, and Matt came onboard as the Bass he is phenomenal also.

The megaphone was just a prop. Mitch makes the same guitar sound in concerts and he sounds the same. He can make other sounds. His violin sound is great. I lol at his sharpie pen sound.

In live performances, he doesn’t use the megaphone. It’s just a prop so people will know that he’s the one doing the guitar solo.

The mega phone is a prop. LOL. Mitch is making the guitar solo with his real voice.

Great REACTION!! The greatest A Capella group of all time. There are other good a capella groups ..but...PTX = Kings. Just by numbers 2nd most popular group has a nice 300 million views...PTX; 5 BILLION views..nuff said. 3 Grammy's and counting. Try their 1st Grammy (made for 400 dollars in a closet) "Daft Punk Medley", and early original that's crazy "Love Again" Beatboxer Kevin goes crazy with the sounds he can create. .....rabbit hole warning..

Like Liliac, they dont have a bad cover or original. Actually most people will tell you they don't do covers....only upgrades. Sound of Silence is a good example, but the list is large. Please understand that the more you listen to Pentatonix, the more you will see the amazing range they have. Some will appeal to you more than others but you will not tire of them.

Go down this rabbit hole! Covers and originals. My faves are the Daft Punk Medley and the 90s Dance Medley.

Kevin would be impressive with just his beatboxing, but if you pay attention you'll see that he flips back and forth between percussion and tenor harmony. He is a god. And we also need to recognize Avi, whose bass not only filled the bass guitar work but also supplemented the percussion. All of these people are the masters of their craft.

Loved the reaction. Subscribed right away. Pentatonix has a huge amount of videos. Please do more reactions to their stuff. And yes they have 2 albums of original stuff.

Important fact, if you didn't figure it out, this is 100% acapella. No instruments. If you hear a bass guitar, it's Avi, the guy with the beard. If you hear drums, it's Kevin. With all their music it's without instruments unless you see one (because Kevin plays a divine cello in a couple pieces). For that reason, it's fun to see them do "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies". An instrumental piece that never did have vocals, yet they do it with no instruments! LOL

Kirstin is vocally outstanding and her beauty ... breathtaking! You will thank me! LOL 😉 She is Mother Earth incarnate. 2, SING. It is one of their originals. Let me just reiterate, the megaphone is only a prop. Guitar Mitch is making the sounds. Also, Kevin and Avi, the percussion and bass section, is world class. How about reacting to an original, Coffee in Bed, Sing, Can't Sleep Love.

This is my new favorite first-time Pentatonix reaction!! 😁 The expected look of complete shock and bewilderment on your face was priceless! I'm sure others have recommended the other two songs (along with this one) of what I like to call the Pentatonix Starter Kit: "Hallelujah" and "Daft Punk." Also, as the holidays draw near, they have a LOT of fantastic Christmas music, with my two favorites being "Mary Did You Know?" and "O Come All Ye Faithful." loved your reaction! One way to go is to start at the very beginning season 3 of The Sing Off where PTX got their start. The group met face to face for the first time the day before the auditions. Some of my favorites are covers Hallelujah (official video and live from their Christmas special), Imagine, Can't Hold Us, Say Something, Gold, Aha live Singapore at the Star Vista Can't Help Falling in Love. Originals Sing, Can't Sleep Love, Love Again, Light in the Hallway, Standing By, Cracked, Water. Their Evolution videos. Their Grammy winning performances Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene. And of course there is their Christmas music Mary Did You Know, Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Oh come all Ye Faithful, Joy the World, Angels we have Heard in High, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. And the list goes on and on, I tend to prefer their older music more than their newer stuff but it is all great. Enjoy the trip!

Kevin is a vocal percussionist and a singer with perfect pitch, just to start lol

It's so easy to forget when listening, there are no instruments. Everything you heard was made by their mouths. Welcome to the rabbit hole of a capella music. You can dedicate the next year or two just reacting to the deep catalog from Pentatonix, Home Free, Voiceplay and other groups as well as some of the solo stuff and side-projects from the members.

I love the way you pick up immediately on the amazing things these guys can do! I would suggest AHA! (Singapore), but your jaw might go through the floor when you hear Avi’s lows and Mitch’s highs!

My advice is just keep going with this group, for your own enjoyment, but please take us along with you. loyal fan base always looking for a new reactor to watch. so much great material from this group. Before you do just realize that Avi (the bass singer) left in 2017 and was replaced by Matt who is just as talented.
