I think the album is not that bad, it’s just not as good as the previous ones. We are extremely spoiled with awesome music from them, that’s why we expect them to release banger after banger. But all in all it fits to the fact, that roadrunner tried to rush this as fast as possible. The misprints, the wrong album name and the recycled snippets from .5 are all indicators for that. They will come back better and stronger now that they’re independent and have as much time as they want

I agree, I actually love the softer songs Slipknot writes. You're spot on with how intricate the songs on the new album are, I noticed that too and I really dig it because I love technical metal (especially Thrash). "De Sade" and "Medicine For The Dead" are my favorite softer songs, "Acidic" really caught me off guard but I instantly loved it because of how bluesy and soulful it is (Corey's vocals are getting better with age).

they say this has new sounds but the chapeltown rag and the dying song literally are like every other song since the gray chapter (screaming high pitched singing chorus screaming and again and again) but the rest of the album feels really different the rest is amazing i still do love the dying song and the chapel town rag it just is literally the same as so many of their other songs

The positive side to albums being different from what the band mightve wanted, is that they gain a wider audience. There's a whole group of people in the world who've never enjoyed Slipknots previous or earlier material, but this album might click with them. And in turn, they start to enjoy more of their catalog.

I turned my mom into a metal head with AHIG. Mainly Psychosocial and Sulfur. Slipknot was just too much for her outside of a Vermillion/p2, and Danger - Keep Away - which really could have used more of the album time. It feels like there is just so much more that song had to say.

Album is great! We tend to relate to bands and music in terms of nostalgia….. or the first album we heard and liked. It’s ok…… but as a music listener, if your truly a fan should try to listen purely….. hard, but in this case……. Nice! I always knew of Slipknot growing up, but was not music from my time…… so, getting into them after they had released 5 albums gives me a different perspective on the band! It’s a good one!!!

I love Slipknot but somehow after Joey Jordison "left" the band I didn't really connect with the following albums. I'm a drummer so I focus alot on the drums and always loved Joeys inspiring drumming. And I kept listening mostly to the Joey playing albums, not that I didn't like Jay's drumming but it took some time to really apreciate what he brings to the band. On The End So Far he's becoming one of my favorite drummers. Also Jim and the rest of the guys did a great job, I like the album very much!

The album's song order in the second half is a little off to me - it makes it sound a little too one-dimensional because majority of the fast stuff is on the first half, while there are some slower and less pummeling songs put together one after another on the second half, which makes that part of the album sound a little flat to me - Medicine For the Dead, Acidic and Heirloom don't fit in this order, in my opinion, especially Medicine For the Dead followed by Acidic sounds a little strange to me, but don't get me wrong - they are one of my favourites on the album, especially Medicine, which is a true masterpiece - it's a very powerful song, but I think there should have been something faster between this track and Acidic, or that Acidic should have been put between Hive Mind and Warranty, which would really serve the album as it would make the second half sound more exciting, I think, so this is what I did and listened to it in such order, and it has a way more interesting feel to it as a whole this way - the second half sounds as interesting as the first; it makes the whole album sound a little more diverse, with more peaks-and-valleys kind of vibe in the second half as well: 01. Adderall 02. Dying Song 03. The Chapeltown Rag 04. Yen 05. Hive Mind 06. Acidic 07. Warranty 08. Medicine For the Dead 09. Heirloom 10. H377 11. De Sade 12. Finale This way it somehow sounds way more exciting to me (Medicine For the Dead and Heirloom go together quite well; the first is slower but heavier, while the second is a little faster but softer, so it gives them a more unique character this way. I left De Sade and Finale as they are, as they sound to me like the record's softer duo, while Dying Song and Chapeltown are its heavier duo), and I only put Acidic between Hive Mind and Warranty, and strangely enough, it has suddenly become one of my favourite albums by them. :P

Honestly a lot of the songs people would dislike about newer slipknot I love. Spiders and Adderall are some of my favorites, I love experimentation in music and yeah they don’t sound like slipknot songs, but they’re incredible interesting songs and make the albums they’re on more dynamic and enjoyable.

As of this comment I haven't listened to the album yet and after hearing Jim's words about it I'll listen to it with an appreciation and understanding about it's creation. I'm sure I will like it even if it would've sounded more traditionally Slipknot if the creation process had happened the way the band wanted it to.

  • @vinifariaslima

Even being far from Slipknot's best work, I think there's some great things in The End, So Far that could be upgraded on what they'll do next. The main one is the fact that the band, at least in some part of every song, worked with creativity, but for real. I'll give the first verse of Yen, for example. Sid and Craig make it sound richer with the distortion sounds and the xylophone, and the percussion growing from something barely to clearly audible and also changing places - not just the same thing of random beats following the tempo -, this give more expression to what I'm hearing. If we had just Corey, Jay and Alex playing, it would be totally different. So, if they keep this spirit but for the entire songs, maybe they can do something that even the old school fans will enjoy.
