Ogre plays Link to the Past [7] Tower of Hera

Ойындар

Sadly, this is our second recording of this since our first one errored. Which is especially sad because Ogre cracked a joke at the Master Sword that nearly killed me, and it's just never quite the same the second time.

Earlf: "Geez, no matter how many times I hear it, still can't believe my parents named me 'Earlf'." *sighs* Sahasrala: (telepathically) "Oh quit yer whin'n. At least people can actually PRONOUNCE your name." Earlf: "Nobody asked you Shamma-lamma-ding-dong." Sahasrala: "Come on, that's not even close! Oh, by the way, your girlfriend's totally getting captured right now. I'd hurry if I were you." Earlf: "Probably should've lead with that Strombolli." Sahasrala: "Don't you bring my Grandmom into this."

Cones are for color vision, which I think is explained with regards to why cats and dogs have less color distinction, even if it's just 1 less cone than us (they also are more farsighted, I think, at least with cats, which means when you're in their face, they don't recognize you, they recognize your scent and maybe voice as well). Rods are brightness, which I think is also explained with cats and dogs, they have more of the rods so they're able to see better in low light. Cats especially, since I think their pupils widening lets more light in, which is why you'll see their pupils being dilated when they're in more darkness (and why they reflect light and look scary)

The three cones each have an overlapping, bellcurve like sensitivity to various wavelengths. Most of the colors we can distinguish activate at least two of them, but at different strengths. The brain uses both what kinds of cones and how much each are activated to determine the percieved color... saying it is an "average" is a significant simplification, but good enough for layfolk. As for variation in color perception, the sensitivity and balance of cone cells actually varies a fair bit, not just person to person, but also within a single individual depending on age and circumstances. The only actual sexual dimorphism is due to the fact that two of the pigments used in color vision are coded on the X chromosome, giving XX and XXY individuals more chances to avoid problems from negative recessive mutations. The source and significance of tetrachromatic vision in humans is also tied to this X chromosome coding, but it would take a bit to completely explain it. Also, you're mostly talking Trademark. Totally different from both copyright and patent.

Like for D&D, trademark is stuff like the dragon ampersand, I think. But copyright is I think specific terms, some considered brand identity, like the Beholder, the displacer beast and a few others, including the Githyanki and Githzerai

This is the episode I've been looking forward to the most! I remember the tower being so mosnterous to my silly little kid brain, looming over the world and the mountain. Ironic enough considering the opening conversation on how our brains do associations and "filling in the gaps." Thank you for making these Let's Plays, btw

Moldorm, the boss that is otherwise known as Hamburger Face. Can also be called the 'Mayor McCheesesnake'. The master sword... not the master's sword or a sword of mastery... just 'master sword'. Was it a sword that mastered it's own existence when it was made? It doesn't immediately make its wielder master of swords or even all powerful, but it does help against evil things and fires spiraling beams of light... that's about it for this version of it. Also the Master Sword is usually found to be stabbed at least halfway into something, thus it's legend mirroring the legendary Excalibur being stuck in stone.

AM2R situation kind of sounds like the situation with any CW show adapting DC stuff: if Warner Bros had plans for something, even if it didn't follow through, like with Deathstroke's live action movie, they had to write the character out of the CW show.

Modem or router at my job apparently got zapped partly by a lightning strike, overloaded it. Have to get a replacement part, so patrons will be without the WIFI until at least Thursday (which does make it awkward unless that's the patron wifi versus the wifi for staff, not that I really have access technically)

From some of the research I've done, companies will sometimes go after people for copyright/trademark infringement over seemingly stupid things out of necessity. They might go after someone for using a particular word or something (like the "Edge" thing you guys were discussing) even if it's not a legit infringement case, but if they chose _not_ to they could run into a situation down the road where somebody makes a blatant knockoff of the company's property only to point out "Well, you didn't have a problem with it when *they* did it" when the company tries to take action over it.

It's like the Try Guys stuff to a degree, I think they tried something specific and it might've worked, but copyright application isn't cheap. It's like $250 an application, so you already have to be kind of rich to troll like that

Did Ogre forget the treasure in the tower? Also, one other difference between men and women's vision is that men see more centrally focused (to see prey at a distance), so that's why men have issues finding stuff in a drawer when women can find things easily.

For some reason, I feel like you can recover from falling down Moldorm's stage more easily by charging the spin attack. Not sure if there's an actual programming reason for that or if it's just a coincidence. Personally, the fact that you can poke enemies while charging the spin attack is one of the most underrated aspects of 2D Zelda combat for me and I hate that they took it out in 3D entries.

I think it's mostly that poking Moldorm with your sword has a lot less knockback than actually being hit by him, so as long as you're facing him with your sword charging, you're both less likely to get knocked far enough back to fall into a pit, and you have a charge ready to instantly damage him if you get close to his tail. It's especially the case since Link scrambling back onto land from the edge of a pit can be surprisingly forgiving if you aren't launched entirely off the platform.

This is an interesting boss fight because I don't think he actually has _health_ in the same way that all other bosses do. I think you have to hit him 6 times, and it doesn't matter if that's a normal swing or a spin attack (it's not 6 spin attacks or 12 normal hits, just 6 hits of any kind). Spin attacks are just way easier to actually _score_ a hit with.

Patent trolling is arguably something that Edison did, but it is distinct from copyright and trademarks. I imagine Legal Eagle has done a video or two getting into such things. But I have a backlog of links for his stuff, like the Batman TAS reaction and the 1st amendment auditor video
